:::: CHEETAHS :::: wed., 3.28

Hey Ladies.

As it turns out, I am taking a rest day today. I just don't have it it in me...must be the reminents of this dang cold! ACK! It works out well though cause that will put my X schedule back on track.

I am cleaning up around here and then I am starting an early dinner. I have coffee plans with an old friend tonight so I want to leave the house around 6:30 and would like to have dinner completely out of the way before I head out. I could just doom DH to Stouffers french bread pizza tonight but I decided to be nice instead! ;) I am trying out a new recipe called carmelized garlic chicken. It's not clean by any means but sure sounds tastey!:9 }( :9

I am going to try my hardest to make it back here later for personals!

Hope everyone is having a good day!:)

I don't mean to intrude on the Cheetah thread (I'm too slow to be a Cheetah!), but Judy, I would love to learn more about this Chi running.... what can you tell me? :)

And well, as long as I'm here... I ran a nice hilly route yesterday afternoon. My Nike+ said it was about 2.6 miles, and it took me 33 minutes. See, I told you I was slow! But at least I ran negative splits (I always do - and I don't even try). :D

I need some running motivation... if I'm not signed up for a race, then it's hard for me to stick to any kind of running schedule. I was toying with the idea of a half marathon in May, but I'm not sure I can be ready in time. I need a swift kick in the ass, please. :)

Wendy- i too will unfortunately have to call this a rest day. Just don't have the time or energy today:-( have fun with your "date" tonight, lol

jackie- see above post to wendy..i didn't work it off at all...UGH. sounds like you had a really enjoyable workout. i've downloaded a few itrains and have yet to use them.

judy- so glad to see you posting again!!!

materialsgirl- come visit anytime. as long as you run you are a cheetah:)

susan-glad you had a good dr's visit. enjoy your lunch:9 i love my ice cream soupy...dh thinks i am nuts.

carole- you are a riot. soooooooo, did you enjoy your workout today;)

ttyl....

Wendy :: thanks for the feedback on lasik…I am hearing only good things. I scheduled a consultation appt. for next Thursday…Sorry to hear SNM declined Shelly’s request to have you stand in for her at one of the RT classes…Mmm, carmelized garlic chicken sounds like something that would be right up my alley. Enjoy the rest day! Unlike me, you’ve earned yours by working through your cold! :)

Marcia :: actually, I don’t have a cold…I am struggling with fatigue – it’s a side effect of the meds I’m on for adult acne. Doc recently upped my dosage, and since then, it’s been a struggle. Congrats on the weight loss! Keep the faith! I’m glad the eTools is working for you…Besides making good choices, I find to truly be disciplined, I *gotta* keep track.

Shelly :: thanks for the feedback on lasik & the ongoing reviews of BBC. I wasn’t planning on taking a full rest week – just a break from the X – but that’s not a bad idea. It might just be what my body needs right now…I love that your next race is Run for the Cheetah! :)

Sunny :: Mmm, I have been on a Haagen Dasz kick lately. They have a Light Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Cookies and Crème I just love. Skinny Cow makes a tasty cookies & crème ice cream sandwich, too.

Gayle :: today’s another gorgeous day in our neck o’ the woods!…The turnaround time on the shirts was quick – I think it was 2-3 weeks…I don’t know about Kremer, but Lasik Plus offers 0% financing for 18 months. Believe me, I’ve waited a LONG time for the price to come down and for the procedure to become more “established.” If all goes well at the consultation, I think I’m ready…

Linda :: I agree – I definitely feel a lot more energized today! Great workout. Re: the X, the only thing I wonder/worry about is if I am cheating myself by not having a pullup bar. I’ve used the Fluidity Bar sometimes instead of bands, but I still don’t think it’s gonna give me as good a workout as a real chinup would. I bought the heaviest band from Spri but I think I could go even heavier.

Carole :: I remember talking about RetinA with you…When I was using the RetinA Micro, I went through the same ordeal trying to get coverage…Accutane is the last resort, so I just have to slog through this and hope that eliminates my skin troubles for good!…Thanks for the feedback on the lasik and BBC…I’m looking forward to seeing this guy Joey! :) I’m surprised we don’t have a name for him yet (ala Mr. YP).

Jackie :: I didn’t see Paulina dance but I wasn’t all that impressed with Shandi. The standout pair to me was Laela (sp?) and Maks. He may be a little arrogant, but man, is that guy HOT! Cliff Clavand surprised me – he did better than I thought, and his ear-to-ear smile was just endearing. I thought Clyde Drexler seemed stiff. I’m trying to think of who else I managed to catch…HOLY smokes! You did 40 minutes of sprints??? YOWZAS!!

Susan :: unfortunately, I don’t think I can switch meds…the only thing I can hope for is a lower dosage. We’ll see. My appointment is Friday…I’m so glad to hear you had a positive experience with the new chiro. Sounds promising! Hope you enjoyed the Indian food. I’ve never tried Indian, but you and Christine sure have me intrigued.

Judy :: I love the yearly honeymoon trip ~ what a great idea! I agree that this is a special group of women. :) Hope you were able to ward off the stiffness. Enjoy the new highlights! I love getting my hair done.

Emily :: welcome to the cheetah thread! No such thing as being too slow!! We’re glad to have ya. When in May is the HM? Depending upon your current training, it may be something that’s doable. Love your signature line, BTW.

I'm feeling pretty good this afternoon, so after an early dinner, I'm going to plug in some type of workout - probably something not too hardcore. I'm just gonna go with a whim on this one.

Have a great night, everyone!
Cathy :)

Cathy-Keeping my fingers crossed. I have noticed that the price of this procedure has indeed come down. Keep us posted.

CHEETAHS! I need your input. Here's the hill repeat workout I just created for the TM for my workout tomorrow morning. I'd like your input on it. Basically, I've taken what Bart Yasso emailed me I should be doing outside for hill repeats and just listed it in order so I can easily read it on my TM console. I've geared it toward MY goal distance, MY speed comfort, and MY incline that I think I'll encounter outside. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! I'll be doing this tomorrow morning, first thing. I'll take any input that I can get between now and then! LOL. I'll let you know how I make out after I'm done....if I can walk! LOL Also, is there ANY way I can simulate a downhill run on the TM??? I can't imagine there is, but I thought I'd ask anyway! And do you think 4-5% hills is too much or too little? Here it is:

Gayle’s Hill Repeat TM Workout

Goals (for Thursday 03/29/07)
•around 8 miles including warm up and cool down.
•at least 2 minute full hill climb for the ‘long’ repeat
•1 minute half hill climb for the ‘short’ repeat
•hill incline of 4-5%
•speed 8:30 - 9:00 mile pace (during hill work, not w/u and c/d)
•sprint speed of 7:30 mile pace

Warm Up 2 miles, steady pace

Set of short hills
Short hill for 1 minute
Jog down for 1 minute
Repeat 3 more times

Set of long hills
Long hill for at least 2 minutes
Jog down for 1 minute
Sprint down for 1 minute
Repeat 3 more times

Set of short hills
Short hill for 1 minute
Jog down for 1 minute
Repeat 3 more times

Cool Down
2 miles, steady pace

Notes:
• Adjust the number of repeats depending on the miles you need.
• With a 2 mile w/u and 2 mile c/d, the hill work should come to 3-4 miles.
• Keep the TM incline the same for each hill (both short and long) since, if you were doing hill repeats outside, you’d be doing the same hill for each repeat.
• Then you can change the TM incline for the next workout, simulating a different hill.

Emily ~ I see you're from IL too!! Welcome to the Cheetahs!! I live near Bloomington! I see you ran the Disney marathon! Congrats! My running buddy runs w/ Team in training too & she did the Disney Half in Jan!

Don't feel like you're too slow! I am currently not running since I tend to keep injuring myself. I have run 2 half marathons & my first full in Sept (the Quad Cities). I'm focusing more on a triathlon that I'm doing in June.

Good luck if you decide to do a half in May!!

Another check in from my Mom's. Kids are having fun playing & making crafts for Grandma. ;-) I did CoreMax (tough core premix), then L & G (ankle weight exercises) this morning. My calf is feeling better today, thanks to my Mom for killing me massaging it last night! (I'm still spoiled by my Mom! :) )

We took lunch up to see my Great Aunt (she's 93!) and helped her out there & played games. It was lots of fun. Allison didn't have much of an appetite, but at least she didn't throw up at all today!

This afternoon I did the Winsor Pilates 40 min workout for Men. It was fun & I enjoyed it.

Susan ~ as you know I'm a huge pilates fan. I don't have the back workout, but my Mom does (she gets the workouts every other month from the Winsor site). I do have most all of the other workouts though. Most of the time I just do them from memory, I've been doing them long enough that I can just do them while watching tv at night.

OK, we're heading out to our fav pizza place here tonight in a bit. I'll be heading home w/ the girls tomorrow!! Wow, time flies when you're having fun! ;-)

Jess, I live in Metamora (a "suburb" of Peoria), so I'm just down the road from you! (sort of) :) Gosh, I have probably met your running buddy at some Central Illinois Team In Training event! Small world, huh?

Gayle :: sorry, I only run on the DM (dreadmill) when absolutely necessary *lol*, and I never do hills when I'm on it (b/c I'm surrounded by hills where I live). Hopefully someone-in-the-know can weigh in w/ input there! For decline work, maybe you can walk facing backwards?

Jess :: glad there's been no more puking :) and you enjoyed your time with your aunt & mom. Sometimes those knots KILL when they are worked on, but after, it feels great.

I just finished 10 Min. Solutions: Arms & Shoulders, Washboard Abs, and Yoga for Buns & Thighs (30 min. total). Not a *killer* workout, but I did feel it. I used 8 lb. weights for the arm & shoulder work, which was basically doing jabs, crosses, hooks, and uppercuts using the weight. And the yoga had me breaking into a sweat, to my surprise.

~Cathy :)

Those who indulge...bulge!

Jess - Isn't family time AWESOME??? I have come to completely enjoy the elders in my family and DH's, too. I love visiting with them and helping them, playing games - all that great stuff. You'll remember these great times you are spending with them for a long time after their gone. :)

I just finished my circuit training tonight - LOVE IT!! Tomorrow I will teach all step - give them a break from the circuit for a few days }( }(

Have a great evening everyone!
Marcia.

Susan - That's great news that the chiro thinks he can help your back.

Judy - A Carribean honeymoon sounds nice and relaxing. I've heard a little about the Chi running. How long have you been doing it?

Wendy - Hope you feel rested. The chicken does sound yummy.

Hi Emily - You can do it! It just takes some dedication and commitment.

Sunny - Nothing wrong with a rest day when the body can't go any more.

Cathy - Is that Cliff from Cheers? I kept thinking it was but was not sure. I think Laila (sp again) is a little cocky or something but she did bring it. It's just not a great leader in the bunch yet. Maybe as the weeks go by they will improve. I did take the breaks Grace offered when doing those sprints. Glad you got a nice workout.

Gayle - Can't offer any advice. I have run on a 5% or more incline doing BBC. Good luck tomorrow.

Jess - Didn't know there was a Winsor Pilates workout for Men. How is it different from the others? Hope you enjoyed pizza.

Marcia - Nice to keep the class motivated.

Have a good night!

Jackie

Well I'm back from coffee with my friend. It was nice. I hadn't seen him in ages. He has been going through really rough times. He has a 14 month old son who was born premature and very sick. The poor little boy has seen the inside of a hospital more in his little life then I ever have in almost 35 years!!! I have been corresponding with my friend via email the entire time but it was nice to finally see him face to face and be able to give him a hug. I feel awful for him, his wife and that poor baby. He told me things tonight about his son's condition that I didn't know...so so very sad. :-( ;( :-(

I'm tired so no personals now but I'll be sure to get on top of 'em while I'm having my morning java!:9

Until then....:)

I know exactly where Metamora is!! (in fact, drove right through Peoria on my way to my Mom's). Susan (singinggoddess) & I met at Avanti's in Peoria when she was here visiting her Mom. Small world, for sure!!! Hey, if you're interested in a great half marathon, I did one in Mahomet (near Champaign) last year. It was in August. I think they'll have one again this year. Nice to *meet* you, neighbor!

Marcia ~ Oh yeah, I'm huge on family time. I adore spending time w/ my Aunt Meg, she's more like a grandma to me. (especially since my grandma passed away- my grandma was her sister in law) Anyway, it's so neat that my girls will have some of the same memories that I had growing up. We spent a lot of time at my Aunt's house playing games & puzzles. And now they're playing the same exact puzzles & games!! ;-) They love it too. I love being able to help out when I can, it's so hard to imagine how hard it is even for the little things for her to do. (ie, vacuuming, opening cans or a bottle of juice, laundry, etc) I can't imagine living to be 93!!

I'd love to take one of your step/ circuit classes!! Sounds like fun!

Wendy ~ Sorry about your friend's ds! What a sad thing. I'm sure he enjoyed the time spent chatting. Have a good night!
