::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Thurs., 1/25

Hey Cheetahs!

Spin class was great. Now I'm trying to do decide how I want to tackle YogaX. I'd really like to *TRY* to do it in one shot but I'm not ready to go for it yet today so we'll see. I can always tackle it as soon as DS goes to bed instead. }(

I was right...The PT materials are a bit overwhelming but I am not allowing myself to get in a frenzy over it. I am going to tackle one thing at a time. (I just noticed that I am big on using the word tackle today, LOL!) There is a 500+ page LARGE hardcover book that covers everything you need to know about being a trainer. I then have a 200 page book on exercise techniques, 2 DVD's that accompany the 2nd book showing exercise form and one cd that I don't think I'll need for studying. It's got a ton of different forms on there for use with clients (training logs, etc.) as well as info on rehabilitation (which I shouldn't need). The exam is 235 multi-choice questions plus at the end there is a section of 10 essay questions. I have to choose any 3 of the 10 to answer and let's not forget abot the practical exam on video or in photographs! Whew! I have my work cut out for me! LOL I have until May 15th to complete the exam and mail it back. I can apply for a 30 day extension if I need one. Gosh, I feel like I'm back in school! LOL I guess I am! WOW, never thought I'd see that day come after I left college for the final time!:p

Okay, I'm done yammering on about me....I'll play catch up on the posts and come back with some personals!:)

I'm back after playing catch up with eamils. I managed my run and now I'm off to do some yoga.

Barb- I'm so sorry your under the weather. I hate the winter for this reason only. Come on spring.

Susan- I just don't feel right without the yoga. It's mainly what keeps me healty. It's all I had when i was recovering from my IT band. I have had issues when I have hurt myself from yoga and then came to realize it wasn't the yoga it was me trying to jam myself somewhere I wasn't ready to go. I pullled a chest muscle that took I swear 3 months to heal. So now the minute I feel a pull I'm out of the pose.

Wendy- Yeah!!! Stop freaking out. Have a cup of coffee, read over your material and of course throw in a couple of wheat thins. Enjoy your new career. This is step #1.

Carol- Enjoy your workout today. I had an awesome tempo run. I made myelf a really nice plan to increase milage slowly over the next nine weeks. Last time I know increasing my milage to fast had something to do with my injury.

Jess- I'm totally up for a food challenge. It will keep me on target with nutrition as I train.

Hi Ladies:) I've got a few minutes then I'm off to get my hair rinsed and cut at the spa before work this evening. It is a nice perk with my job, when I got it highlighted and cut 6 weeks ago Andy just charged me product and it cost a whopping $8.00! 10-10-10 and CTX PowerCircuits this morning was the sweatfest I hoped it would be, great cardio, I had enough time for a bit of yoga for core/hips and legs. I've been neglecting my stretches so it felt very good and much needed. I'll chat with you all later:)

Take Care
Laurie

Hey girls.

I got side-tracked from personals with something that came in the mail and then a phone call. I'm back now though so here I go...:)

Laurie: So what work out did you decide on today? Feeling better about taking control of your eating?

Barb: Sorry you are feeling under the weather. I hope you can kick it fast! ((((hugs))))

Marcia: YEAY for the poundage lost! WOO HOO! Way to go girl! Keep up the good work! Nothing like a couple of lost pounds to motivate a person!:+

Laura: Glad you are enjoying your DOMS today! I always enjoy it too!}(

Karen: Hope you had a good run today. Thanks for the calming words about the PT stuff. :) I will take your advice...minus the wheat thins!:p LOL

Christine: You will not be YogaX'ing alone today. I'll be right there with you! Does that make it any better? Didn't think so!:p :7 LOL

Jess: Christine and I need some motivation to do YogaX today. Can you help us...pretty please? ;)

Sunny: Thanks for the excitement! I felt it through the computer! ;) :7 So now that you are not working at your f/t job, how many hours are you looking to pick up training at the gym? Are you still going to look for another job?

Carole: Good luck on the 10 pound weight loss! A SILVER band for the firewalkers??? I did not even know there was such an animal! How many bands are inbetween the green and the silver?? YOU ROCK!
:)

Susan: Hope your pt session goes well and give Jason heck for making you sore!:p So are you going to do the Leg Blast premix from B&G? I can't wait to do that again after I finish the X! It's KILLER!!!}( To answer your question about my eating...I try to eat pretty clean the majority of the time but I am not super strict about it unless I am actively trying to lose weight. :) BTW, my trainer exam is to be completed and mailed back by May 15, just incase you didn't read my post above where I rambled on about it!:p LOL

Hello to anyone I missed!

:+

susan- are you done yet? i am about to tackle b& g in a few mins. DOMS here i come!!

wendy- yes i am extremely excited. it's hard to contain myself at times. lol i don't think i am going to look for a pt job as it stands now i am working between two gyms (same company) they are keeping me quite busy and the business is really picking up. in addition as long as i work around the hrs of the daycare at the gym i don't have to put my boys in a daycare facility. i trained a lady for the first time today. she had asked for a refund of her money back because she only had one good trainer ( a foremer bodybuilder) that quit and since then she didn't feel like anyone else gave her a good workout. so they wanted me to smooth things over with her. well today i gave her a very intense leg workout. she seemed really pleased. she even told me she is going to send one of her friends my way. when i was leaving the mgr. of the gym complimented the way i worked her out. i am having such a good time. i don't know what i will do when someone complains to my mgr. that i suck...lol

carole- yes, i am enjoying my internet time.

kristi- i've got to check out that premix on LIC. i've only done that workout once. sounds like a goodie to use with my clients}(

ttyl....:)

Hello again,
I just got back from my pt appointment and I have been given the go ahead to do yoga. I have so missed my yoga and I cannot wait to do it with my hubby again. The pt said my back is a little more inflamed than on Tuesday, but that could just be from all the pressure and work they put into last session. They are able to go deeper into the tissue which is good news. So, I am still to do low impact, but now can add the yoga. Baron and Bry, here I come!!!!!

Suunydelite, I am going to do Butts and Gutts right now. You are probably just finishing it up, lucky!

Judy, Hope you had a great workout with the upper body GS.

Barb, Hopefully this illness will be gone within a few days. Actually, the Butts and gutts floorwork is my favorite, because it is pretty good for my back. It feels good when I do the pizza press and the other work on all fours. I do not do the stability ball work on that one though. That hurts my lower back.

Wendy, That big packet IS very overwhelming. Just take it very slow and focus on one section at a time. And just tell yourself you are doing this for fun and not because you have to. I think once you get started it won't seem so bad. Good luck sorting it out.

Karen, I know what you mean about the yoga. I used to be very competetive with it. I had to be in a pose the instructor was and I would sometimes force myself into it. I know now that I am doing to feel good in the pose not to look good.

Laurie, That is great you don't have to spend a lot on your hair. BTW, are you still running? I know you had an injury awhile ago with the foot or ankle. Is that all healed?

Okay ladies, I am off to do the butts and gutts!

Susan

Another quick post - please forgive my unsocialness today... :+

I did the first half hour of Yoga X and during the triangle position, I felt a not-so-good pain in my hamstring/groin area (from my butt cheek to my hip flexor - I'm assuming that's a lovely little groin pull). So, I stopped (had to anyway - had to get back to work) and now I'm a bit sore there. So, I'm going to take it easy the rest of the day - which is okay as it was my day off anyway. And I'll be very careful tomorrow during Legs and Back - and stop if anything bothers my leg. I would ice it, but I'll tell ya, I'd look mighty funny sitting at work with an ice pack in that area... One hot mamma...

I'm saying a mass "HI!" I want to play - I really do - but work prohibits it. I guess as they pay for my Cathe and exercise obsession, I should get back... :p

OK, I finally have another minute to post, but not too long! I ended up going GS C & T this morning and BM2 Ultra Cardio blast plus abs this afternoon. Allison & I went to the store, and then we cleaned house!! ;-) It looks good around here again! I hate the chaos from painting (ie, things out of place!!).

I have a ham in the oven & am off to shower! The girls will be home in half an hour & my Dad should be here around 4. Then we'll just be hangin' out tonight.

I'll post more tomorrow, everyone have a great night!!

Just wanted to peek in and say hello to everyone! I've already read about 30 pages in the PT manual today! Can ya tell I'm all fired up about this right now? Give me a month and I'll be complaining about having to do it! LOL :p

I'm just about off to do YOGAX. I'm going to attempt the full 90 minutes but if I don't make it for any reason I can finish it between tomorrow and saturday with no problem...

Sunny: WOW, you must be doing a freakin' AMAZING job as a PT! Do you have any prior experience with training? Does it alot of it come easy to you because of the experience of doing it yourself as an avid execiser? You are giving me great hope that I CAN DO THIS! Now please don't shoot it down by telling me you were a fitness competitor in a former life or something!;)

Alright...I'm outta here before it gets too late! If I have time I'll poke my head back in here when I'm done!

TOODLES!:+

Just a quick check-back to say I finished 10 Min. Solutions KB Arms & Shoulders plus an ol' throwback Kathy Smith's Kickboxing using the new gloves. I fig'd something not-too-intense would be a good choice as I ward off what I hope are the last remnants of this cold! The workout was way easier than it used to be, of course (thanks, Cathe!), but the gloves helped take it up a notch, so I got a good sweat and kept the HR up. Off to get showered and then settle in. Sorry no time for personals ~ but I will definitely get caught up w/ my cheetahs in the morning!

Cathy :)
