Cathlete
GOOD MORNING!

Cathy: So what did you decide last night? It is sooo cold in our school. The kids always want to wear their coats in class during the winter, but they can't due to security reasons. Not fun freezing all day. Data meetings went well. Got a few that I need to keep my thumb on.

Wendy: You must of needed the rest. Glad you had fun last night! :)

Wendi: You are a cleaning machine! Way to go!

Christine: My BF bailed on us splitting STS because heavy weights don't work for her either. I'm fine with it. I don't see me following the rotation anyway. Pip is still doing well. Sounds like a cool ride!

Carole: Your vegetarian reasoning is right on. :) I shop for my shoes the same way you do! Your sister is too much. Gas is down to $1.88 here. Yes, serenity now. ;)

Linda: I am giving myself a present and getting those CW-X tights. :) Great 6 mile run!

Shelly: You made some great scores at Dick's! That is crap that your insurance company dropped you! I can imagine what a nightmare that is! Your marathon is soon. What is your average marathon time?

Jackie: Glad you had a great workout yesterday! Well, I'll only be keeping USPS with greeting cards this year, so you won't see any packages from me! :)

Posh: LOVE the pony! Some people are so dang rude! TGIF! :)

Judy: That adventure club sounds cool! Great run!

Brighton: So happy to hear you are pain free!

Dallas: I can pm you the recipe if you want. Just let me know. :) I read most of the book on Sunday, not done yet. I did see the lecture on the news last year. I had to ice down my eyes Monday morning because the book tore me up! I can send you the book when I am done. Again, just let me know. Great workouts!

Karen: (((HUGS)))

Ran 5 yesterday. Today is a run and yoga. It is -6 out there this morning! Yikes! Looking forward to the weekend! HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!!:)

Hello Friends

Karen- Hang in there, we are all praying for you. Do not waste your good energy on your thoughtless relatives.

Gloria- Did you write -6 F ?? The Last Lecture has really hit me. I did watch it on Youtube and immediately read the book. DH read the book just last Sunday. DH is so much like Randy Pausch, except he married me much younger. We find our selves often quoting him to our kids. Are you a fan of John Irving? I read A Prayer for Owen Meany last week on vacation. It was another powerful albeit fiction story.

Shelly- 2 more days, 2 more days, 2 more days!!!! I feel your excitement! After reading about the prcoess of so many of our Dear Cheetahs prepare and complete big races, I feel like we are truly a group of sisters supporting one anothers goals! Go Shelly!

Linda- Thanks for the information on the tights and the iPhone download. I do run with my iPhone when I am out of my own neighborhood. Do you have an arm band you like? I fear moisture problems. I am a fan of Zappos too.

Dallas- I have convinced my kids to do a professional family Christmas Picture as a gift to DH and I for our 25th wedding anniversary. We told them we preferred no other gifts and no party. Of course if I am addressing cards that means I will not do any baking! This is a good trade off. and more healthy too ;)

Brighton- It is Murphys Law that kids keep us up at night just when we are the most tired! Good job on your TM run walk session!

HI to Carole, Christine, Cathy, Wendi & Wendy, and Jackie,

Today will be chest triceps & shoulders and some abs. If I have time I will add in some back. Oddly, I did not get any back DOMS from PS going heavy.

Hey Girls.

TGIF!

No work out for me this morning. I went to bed early last night and slept in a bit. I feel sooo much better then I did y'day though I wish I gotten up in enough time to work out. Oh well. I guess I'll have to get it done this afternoon.

So what's everyone doing this weekend?

Not sure what I'll do as DH is slated to work 10 hours both tmrw and Sunday so I'm on my own until evening...

I guess that's all for now. Sorry, not in a personals mood at the moment but ya know I'll catch up later!

Toodles!

Good morning cheetahs

Gloria...my vegetarian reasoning seems to work for me...:D. The 1st thing out of my mouth about my PITA sis's lame excuse was the low gas prices. But Mom has enabled her to some degree. Enjoy your run and yoga.

Wendy...Yep, PITA sis is a lame brain. One of these days she will know exactly how I feel. It is LONG overdue. This weekend I will probably be doing more packing at Mom's...

Judy..enjoy your chest, tri, shoulder and ab workout today.

Dallas...Good workouts in the last few days! Thanks re: the 18 miles. I was glad to get there although it might have made me a tad more tired this week! I sure hope our TJ's opens soon, I doubt we will ever get a Whole Foods. Yeah PITA sis has more excuses than I can imagine...

Linda..LOL, I think most of us have some fitness stuff we might regret having bought and rarely use too!! Yes PITA sis is amazing...but Mom is part of the problem as she has enabled much of this...:(...so whaddayado? I can do P90X for about 8 weeks most of the time, any longer and I get bored. I probably like Cathe's weight workouts the best...:)...Good job on your 1st 6 miler since the marathon!

Shelly...sorry about the insurance crap! I figured they would keep you insured if you continued making them payments. Good score on the warm running gear!! UA is such a good brand. Are you getting nervous about the marathon? This was the 1st Brooks shoe I tried out. I have changed brands of running shoes somewhat as my one bunion flares up now and then so wider shoes seem to work better. The 1st words out of my mouth about my PITA sis was the low gas prices. Unfortunately there has been some enabling on my Mom's part over the years with PITA sis so both can be to blame.

Karen...so sorry about the in-laws rudeness...when it rains sometimes it pours...sending {{{{HUGS}}} and continued prayers your way.

Jackie...I think that infomercial about the Pliates chair is about the wrst exercise ripoff I have ever seen as far as them never mentioning the full price. I imagine E-Bay would have some good prices but I don't use that site. You always remind me that I need to be stretching as you do!!

POSH...LMAO at "Who let the dogs out"!!! Love the pony pic, he looks nice and squishy! PITA sis lives about 11 long, hard miles from me...of course I mentioned the lower gas prices. A little more to this story though (isn't there always)

Today is tri's, back and abs from something, and a 5 mile tempo run.

Have a great day...:)

Quick post this morning - Got yet another flat - can you believe it?!?! - yesterday, so back my bike went to the shop. The guy said that he forgot to have the rim tape (the tape that protects the tire from the rim (the metal circle the tire sits on) replaced. So he did that, replaced the tire and redid it all for free. We'll see if that holds. :p I'm going to do "Recovery and Technique" this morning, then Shoulders, Bi's and Tri's later today - I'm working from home :D I'll check back with personals as time allows!

Good morning!

Dallas – My DD is still about the same. She is having good days and bad. Yesterday was bad. She has a really bad dizzy spell. She was unable to do anything at all for around 10 minutes. Her arms were so heavy and “dead” that she couldn’t use them and had to “wait it out”. Oh! Okay! I have that 10 Minute Solution. I will try that again! The 4:00 a.m. thing is just something I have to “force”myself to do. Once I am up, I am okay….it is just dragging my “**s up! ;)

Karen – My goodness! It sounds like you are getting it from all directions. I am so sorry! I hope they find out something positive with your mom! I wish somebody would help you with all of this. You and your DH need some help and “support” from other family members!

Gloria – Oh my gosh! I won’t complain about our overnite low of the high teens last night! You have it much, much colder! Good job on your run and enjoy your yoga and run today! I hope you like the tights! Let me know what you think if you get them ! With temps as low as what you get, you may want the try the “insulator” ones!!

Judy – I put my iPhone in a leather case. I actually have to unsnap the case and take the phone out any time I need to do anything….so that is aggravating! I would love to have one of the clear plastic/silicone ones that you operate without having to remove the phone, but I haven’t seen one with a clip! I usually clip my iphone/case to my waistband. I definitely understand what you mean about the moisture! I haven’t tried an armband, yet. You are welcome for the info!

Wendy – Glad you got some rest and was able to sleep in! Enjoy your solitary time today! I am going to Pipestem after work today and will be there until Sunday. We are having a big get-together with all the families and cooking “Thanksgiving” dinner in one of the cabins tomorrow.

Carole – Enjoy your 5 miler and whatever upper you decide to do. Yep! I am going to try hard to stay away from buying equipment that I am not sure if I will use it!!!! Did your mom kind of spoil your PITA sis?

Christine – Another flat! Oh dear! I am sorry! Hopefully, it will hold now! Enjoy your weights and recovery run!

This morning I ran 4 miles and did the upper body of BM2 and abs. I won’t get to run or anything tomorrow and maybe not even Sunday. As I was telling Wendy, we are going to go to Pipestem State Park and some of us are renting cabins, and some got rooms in the lodge. We are having a huge get together for Thanksgiving.

Hey to everyone and hope everyone has a great weekend!

Linda

Hey Cheetahs!

Posh - Thanks for sharing a pic of your sweet pony. "Who Let the Dogs Out" - too funny! :D Sounds like a grand old day! Did you get all those students back on that bus?

Linda - I remember changing my shoes for my first half. Bad idea. Should have stayed with what I trained in. Hope DD feels better soon. Good job with the 4 miles and BM2 UB. Have fun this weekend at the park.

Wendy - Hope that rest day was just what the doctor ordered for you. Glad to read you're feeling a little better. Plan on visiting DBF tomorrow after my run if I don't freeze to death. ;)

Judy - Great tempo run yesterday. Anything longer than 5 miles usually wipes me out. Hope DD has a safe and fun trip. Camping has never been my forte. Give me a nice comfy room with room service.:D

Brighton - Glad you had a good run with no pain. You're getting there. Did you get some rest last night?

Dallas - How do you like Suzanne Deason Hips & Thighs? It hits the spot for me. Since I have yet to buy a pair of gloves for running, I grab an old pair of leather gloves. They have a nice lining and keep my hands warm. My body is so use to getting up early that it's not a problem now. Even when I can sleep in, I still wake up at the same time.

Karen - So, so sorry for all you had to go through yesterday. ((((HUGS)))) I know it has to hurt that even the doctors are stumped. More prayers for you and your family.

Gloria - So is the heat for your school controlled by some place not even in the state? Really hate those. C'mon and shop and mail some packages! :D We need all the help we can get. Enjoy your run and yoga. Cold there! BRRRRR!!!

Carole - Yes, PITA sis will get hers. Cathy does offer the best weight workouts IMO. I mean she gives you full body, half body, body parts, etc. What more could we want. :D Enjoy your tris, back and tempo run. What kind of temps are you having?

Christine - Sorry about yet another flat. Enjoy your ride and weights. Always nice to be able to work from home I bet.

Cathy - Missed your post today.

Today's workout was 15 minutes on the EXT and Super Body Sculpt UB and Abs. Decided to save my legs for my run tomorrow. Temp is supposed to be in the 20's. Not looking forward to that at all.

Have a fantastic Friday!

Hiya cheetahbabes! Had a busy nite at work but napped well this morning. Haven't done much at all yet this afternoon except plan out for this weekend. In a bit I'll go for a nice little 2 mile run and then some serious stretching.

DH got in contact with our insurance agent directly in Az and he got us reinsured after all so that's one less headache at least.

I forgot to mention that the other day in addition to scoring a great new running wear wardrobe I FINALLY made it to the hairdresser and wacked off a good part of my overgrown scraggly mane and covered up the gray. Love the job they did!!! Feel much better now:D. I'm not going around 24/7 with a ponytail out of necessity anymore!

Can't believe I'm running a marathon the day after tomorrow! I guess reality will set in when I take off tomorrow. I'll spend the night in the outskirts of Philly and drive in early Sun. I'll head to the expo first tomorrow and then back out to my motel. I'll take my laptop so I can chat with youze guys tomorrow pm.

Jackie- Thanks for the good luck wishes. It will warm up during the course of the marathon run but not much. Starting temps will be around 30 and it will "warm" up to close to 40. Hey, the cold weather will give me extra incentive to keep moving at least! Nice you got in a good run and are feeling better... you were really pushing on the training there!

Posh- Every office should have someone like you working in it!! It would make the work day go by so much nicer IMHO. Thanks for sharing a pic of your famous squeeze pony! Dick's seems to be an east coast sports store chain primarily... never saw one in Az either but my jaw dropped when I walked into one the first time here!! Fabulous selection but like alot of retail stores a bit pricey so ya gotta watch for the sales.

Linda- Thanks so much for your shoe input!! I'm always looking for new suggestions to try. I currently run in neutral cushioned shoes... right now Addidas Supernovas. I was running with stability shoes for quite a while but I've been quite comfy running in the Supernovas. I'll start seriously shopping and considering my next pair after the new year and I'll check out the one's you mentioned. Wow, you have a terrific weekend planned!!! Spare me a thought in your cozy cabin on Sunday... I'll be imitating a running Popsicle!

Wendy- I imagine I'll be tagging along on one of the karaoke nights w/ my coworkers... should be interesting anyway! what am I doing this weekend??? Oh gee... I'll think of something! (LOL)

Judy- Being able to "control the hills" is definitely one of the big advantages to the TM for sure! My goal is pretty similar to yours this winter... I am to force myself outdoors at LEAST once a week. Oh my, your DD17 is a brave one to go outdoor adventuring in the Adirondacks this weekend!!! I love your encouraging words this morning!!! ITA we are like a group of sisters in our support and it means the world to me!!!

Brighton- Congratulations on your successful re-entry into running. Not to worry.... you'll be back to your prior fitness and endurance level pretty darn soon!

Dallas- I did YogaX the other day. I've never been able to really get into yoga at all but the p90x version I can at least tolerate. Yes, Sunday is the big day... I may be imitating a popsicle towards the end tho! You've had some LONG early rising days there! and you call 0500 sleeping in??????

Karen- I'm so sorry your visit to the specialist was so frustrating. I have to admit I'm rather confused myself after reading your report of the visit. Usually tumors on the meninges (the outer covering of the brain) are the ones most easily resectable by surgery. I guess hers are too widespread for that option so they are suggesting intrathecal chemo. I can understand why they wouldn't want to go that route until there is demonstrated cancer cells present. Doesn't make it any easier for you tho for sure... or your MOM!!! 3 weeks to wait for an answer seems like an eternity for sure. sure wish I knew some magic words of comfort for you!!!! God bless you and give you strength. As a side note... it's a wonder your DH turned out to be such a great guy with that family!

Gloria- Minus 6 degrees???? Okay, I feel like a TOTAL weenie now complaining about temps in the 20s and 30s!! I haven't done very many marathons, this is only my fourth. My first one I ran injured the whole way and finished in 4:52. I ran a 25 miler and took a wrong turn so I ended up going about 27 miles, so I count that one in the marathon category, but it was a grueling Man against Horse endurance race that went up and down a mountain so I cant really use that as a comparison time. Last Dec. I did the Las Vegas marathon and finished in 4:30 which is pretty much where my current marathon pace ability is. Hopefully I can do a bit better with this one... we'll see.

Carole- Oddly enough I really don't feel a bit nervous about Philly... It will probably really hit me tomorrow I guess. I'm not putting alot of pressure on myself. I'll pace myself for a 4:30 finish and speed it up in the second half if I'm feeling good. If it doesn't work out... c'est la vie. I'll still have fun! Hey, I'm curious as to what your Mom thinks about your PITA sis's excuses. Does she truly buy them?? A mother's love can be blind at times ya know, especially if she's been enabling all along.

Cathy- Must be a pretty overloaded Friday for you! I hope all is well.

That about catches me up... time to get a little busy here!

Afternoon Girls!

This morning I tackled the Gauntlet. I was for sure dreading it, but it wasn't that bad.:) I foam rolled after that, but had to hurry and shower. So, nothing else got done. I was hoping to do KM leg drills and some abs. Maybe later?? Tomorrow is PLB.

Shelly ~ Do we get to see pictures of your new do? :) Glad your dh got the house reinsured. I like YogaX too. lol'd about being a popsicle. You'll be burnin' up because of your quick pace!!! :D Yeah, these have been long days this week. Next week the kids are off school, so we'll have some carefree days. :) That's got to be hard for you only doing 2 miles. ;)

Jackie ~ I DID wake at 4A today! I was so mad. Guess my body has gotten use to it. I did doze back off though. I did like that workout...that woman is a rubber band! How does she make her legs do that!?!?! Are you that flexible too??Thanks for the recommendation. Enjoy that chilly run tomorrow.

Linda ~ Oh, your poor DD. :( I bet she can't wait to be holding that little baby! OK, do Amy's abs followed by PUB abs....that will get you! :D;) I checked out those tights on Zappos. I had no idea that they sold tights too. Thanks for the link. Good job on your 4 miles and upper body work.

Christine ~ That's a bummer about another flat. Get a lot of work done working from home? Are you still kettlebelling?

Carole ~ Guess we all have family members who can be difficult. I have my fair share too. Another great run for you today! You're racking up the mileage! :)

Wendy ~ Hope you got your workout in. Sleeping in is a great feeling. Too bad it doesn't happen too much around here.

Judy ~ That's a nice anniversary gift. I just found some nice Christmas outfits today for the kids. Hope DS5 will wear the turtleneck. I like to bake too, but then I eat too many cookies. I'll see how things are going. Do you do labels for your cards or write them out? How did you workouts go? IA that this is a very caring, supportive group.:)

Gloria ~ That would be great to get that soup recipe. I love making my own soup. When we go out to eat, the soups always taste too salty for me now. Thanks about the book. I can request it from the library, which I do for most books. That way you can save your postage money. My neighbor wants me to read Twilight. I told her to wait until after Christmas. Did you run outside in -6 temps?!?! WTG on your 5 mile runs. :)

Karen ~ That's just terrible about your inlaws. :( Continued prayers for your mom and your family.

Well, better get some house stuff done since I've been gone all day.

Hi to Cathy, Brighton, Wendi, Posh!!

Hi Girls.

Shelly: OMG I'm such a dork! I completely forgot what this weekend was!!! GO SHELLY GO SHELLEY GO!!!!! Good luck to you for your marathon. I know you'll do fabulous! Will you be driving home right after the race? Will DH be with you?

Jackie: LMBO at visiting DBF if ya don't freeze to death. :D I hear ya though! It's COLD out there!!! BRRRRR! Good call not workin' the legs before tmrw's run. You may be cold at first but you'll have a great run. I just know it!:)

Linda: Wow, sounds like such a fun weekend in store for you! ENJOY IT! Don't worry about your work outs until you come home! They will wait for you. ;)

Christine: Glad your bike shop guy admitted his error and did right by you. I hope it fixes the problem. So how did you work out go today? Do you enjoy being able to work from home on occassion or do you find that you are easily distracted?

Carole: So what "something" did you decide on today? :D Sorry your sister acts the way she does. I think there is a person like that in every family. Right now one of my cousins is THAT person. He got into a fight with his mom and hasn't seen or spoken to her since. He won't even allow his kids to see or talk to her and they are little. Poor things. :( It's been atleast a year now if not longer! I want to give him a piece of my mind but we are not close so I don't feel comfortable. So far everyone has kept their mouth shut and not yelled at him but I know it's not gonna stay that way forever...

Judy: Hope you had a good work out today. What's on tap for your weekend? Will you get a quiet weekend at home?

Gloria: Oh gosh I wish I could do yoga as much as you do. You are lucky. Hope you had a good friday. :)

Dallas: I hear ya, I don't get to sleep in much either. When I say sleeping in though, I mean I got up at 6 or 6:15 instead of 5 or 5:30. I remember the days of sleeping until 8. Oh what I wouldn't give...LOL

Today's work out ended up being two 20 min kettlebell work outs that I have had for quite some time and never tried, the ankle weight work from B&G and the standing ab work from BBC. Yeah, I admit it...I just wanted to look at Joey! ;):p:D

Well, that catches me up...I'll BBL to see what's goin' on though!:D

Afternoon, Cheetahs!!! :D

Going to try to fit some yoga in today, but that'll probably be all. Tomorrow I'm planning on getting back on the TM to try and work a little more and keep inching that mileage back slowly. Can I say a big AMEN to Carole's plea for serenity now? Sounds like we could use a big dose of it in the den. Life has been so exhausting lately for so many of us it would seem. Sending a big group (((((HUG))))) to all the Cheetah babes.

Gloria/Cathy: Hope you are staying warm!!!!!! I do not do well being cold. I am sending warm thoughts your way… Minus six degrees???? :( It’s been in the 60s here—what’s up with that???

Cathy: Yay for Hitchcock! *North by Northwest* is one of my fam's favorites. I've always kinda had a thing for Cary Grant... ;)

Wendy: We are fans of the Macaroni Grill too. I could live off the bread/oil/balsamic vinegar combo. Salivating just thinking of it.

Wendi: So impressed with your cleaning escapades. Looking around my home office, I see you are providing some much needed inspiration for me! Don’t worry about missing workouts—I always just think about all the calories I’m burning during the whole cleaning process! :)

Christine: So are you into mountain biking, road biking, or spinning? (or perhaps a mixture of all 3!) Sorry to hear about the new flat! That’s no fun! Hope everything's fixed for good now... or at least for a little longer this time!

Carole: Sending some serious serenity your way. Sorry about the sister craziness. ITA with everyone else. And I’m right there with you on the meat hormone thing as well—we eat vegetarian about 50% of the time for that very reason.

Linda: I have heard great things about Zappo’s… going to have to check them out! Thanks for posting that link for the tights… may just have to get me some too!

Shelly: Sorry about the insurance headache… Grrrrr. Glad to hear it’s resolved now. We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you! You are going to do great on Sunday, I just know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sending lots of warm wishes your way—glad you were able to get some nice cold weather gear! Yay for haircuts! I chopped 10 inches off my ‘do this summer. Fun times!

Judy: My DS is 3 yrs old and DD is 2. They are only 14 months apart (can we say surrrrrrprise?!) so they keep me hopping. They are a lot of fun though. Good kids, though DS can be pretty headstrong. Hope DD’s camping trip goes well and that they stay safe & sound! LOL about Murphy’s Law. Seems to be my life lately… training for a marathon—foot injury. Completely worn out & exhausted-- up all night with kids. Oh well. We take things as they come & learn to love it! :D

Karen: Oh my goodness, so many (((((HUGS))))) and prayers headed your way. I am so sorry to hear the latest on your mom, and all the difficulties with the in-laws. My heart aches with you… I totally agree with Judy—don’t waste good energy on those that would tear you down.

Posh: Love the pony! Hopefully he’s getting everyone through to the weekend!

Jackie: Got a little more sleep last night, but DD was still up twice. I guess that’s a little better than 4 times… but still pretty tired. Living for the weekend, this Cheetah is!!!!!!!

Dallas: Ooh, the Gauntlet. Haven’t done that one in a while-- kicks my butt for sure! Sounds like a fun one to bring out again. WTG!

Friendly hellos to anyone I may have unintentionally missed... Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~Brighton~

FIL called this morning to apologize. I didn't answer the phone becasue I was down at my mom's making her list for the grocery store. Anyway he said he was sorry once again and to call him. I of course pushed that off onto dh. I dont' want to worry about that so I'm jsut going to forget it all happened and just know now where we stand in the family tree so to speak.

Shelly- I wanted to say good luck. I was talking about my half and you gave me so much encouragement and then this happened and I haven't been there to support you. So good luck and I will be thinking of you. Hope the weather is well. As for the MRI photos he showed me last night, he said the menegies were severe. The entire skull had a thin bright light around the brain and then on the right side which has the swelling it was puffed out and bright. He said the course of action is intercranial chemo like you said and he told me he just wouldn't do it yet. He said he wants another tap for the cebreal fluid in 3-4 weeks. Thanks for letting me know anything you can tell me. As always I appreciate anything you can lend to my ears.
