Natalie- I think it's great that you are so excited about your first half!! You will do great!! I felt the same way last year, I never though I'd be able to do a half & now I've done 2 & am almost ready to do my first full!! Good luck to you & I will definitely be thinking of you as my full is the same day as your half!!

Hi Susan!! I'm glad that you joined in! This is such a fun group, you'll love it here!! WTG on your longest run!!! It is easy to be obsessed w/ running, it's addictive!

It is hard the eating & running thing. I'm still working on it. Like yesterday I ran 21 miles & my Garmin said I burned over 2,500 cals. I KNOW I did not eat enough for those cals plus my regular cals for the day! So I try to spread it out more, I eat a bit more for a couple days before & the day after a long run. I try to let myself have some sort of splurge treat, so for me this weekend it was a couple oatmeal choc. chip cookies! Also, refueling ASAP after a long run is very important for me. I like making a protein shake w/ skim milk right after a run, then taking a shower, and then eating a bit more, maybe oatmeal & yogurt or something like that. Carb & protein together is a good combo to help refuel your muscles quickly. It's hard not to think you can eat whatever you want though!

It really is a balance. I used to get a bit obsessive over it & counted calories & started to go a bit nuts. Now I just try to listen to my body & eat when I feel hungry. For me, eating smaller meals often is much better than 3 larger meals. And plenty of water, I drink at least 120oz a day.

Jess-I have some allergies too, especially around this time. All the pollen in the trees drives my nose nuts}( Hope you have fun biking tomorrow and good luck w/ your marathon!
