:::: CHEETAHS :::: monday, 3.26.07 *CORRECT DATE*

Thanks my Cheetah Girls. I appreciate all the support. I found out that there were 422 racers in the 10 Miler. I was number 186. Then for my age catagory which was 30-39 I was number 21 out of 68.

Jess- So far so good with the IT band. I still worry about it but I just have to train smart.

Good morning cheetahs! This will need to be a quick post, but I should be able to come back later for personals. Work should be slow this afternoon.

This weekend was so nice. The temperatures were in the 80s and very sunny. I'm so happy to report that I ran outside both days and my calf and right foot are not bothering me at all. I'm wondering if I should cancel my Wednesday podiatrist appointment since my foot/calf are doing okay. I am actually surprised because I ran 4 miles with the double baby jogger on Saturday. It was brutal when I was running up the steep hills pushing a combined weight of 100 pounds, but it was an awesome workout. Then Sunday I ran 8.7 miles!!! This is surprising especially since I did hard yardwork (shoveling & planting) for the 2 hours prior to running. It is my longest run so far. I even ran it in 1:34 whereas when I ran 8 miles on the treadmill the week before I ran that in 1:30. It is surprising how much faster I can run outside. Only a little under 5 more weeks before my HM.

Today is a much needed rest. I'll probably do some ab/lower back work though.

Heather - Welcome! These ladies are awesome. They are so encouraging and motivating. You will be running in no time.

Shelly - I'm sorry I missed your birthday. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

I'll BBL! Waves to all Cheetahs! BTW Congrats to all the roadtripers! I was trying to figure out a way to go, but since it is full I guess I can X that idea.

Good morning to all the cheetahs and happy Monday!!! Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday!!! You are the greatest :) We had just a small gathering last night with lasagna and ice cream cake:9 My long stretch off ends tonight and it's back to work (sigh)

Karen- congratulations on a fabulous time for your 10-miler:7 That was especially impressive considering the winds you were battling.
Your time indicates you maintained an average 9:15 pace. WTG:7

Linda- Great job with the 7 miles yesterday! Thank you so much for your kind remarks yesterday re: turning 50. Having never gone through the sobering process of child rearing I guess I tend to come across as younger than I am, either that or I'm just insane;-) have a terrific rest day!

Jackie- My twin is anything but identical. She not only is opposite me in looks but in personality as well. Go figure! You sure had a varied and interesting workout today!

Heather- catching up from yesterday- Great purchase on the Asics!
The 1120 is a great shoe for beginner runners! You've given up chocolate and cheeze? Chocolate I can definitely do without, but cheese???? No way!

Cathy- Hope your Monday is going well for you so far. I can feel your frustration in dealing with this fatiguex( I hope you can find it in you to get in the workout you're aiming for!

SunnyD- I got my BBCs last Friday and was really impressed with my first workout yesterday- Chest and Abs. I did that TM workout..what a killer!!! Probably shouldn't have attempted it the day after my 10k but I didn't realize how intense it was. Well, I guess I did no harm, no new pains today. However, today I will definitely forgo the TM portion!

Marcia- Glad you had a fun trip! Have you looked into "Eat to Live" .... I've never known it not to work for people who have seriously tried it.

Gayle- I frequently get my yoga workouts in on "rest" days. I know many would argue that yoga is a workout too, and it is....just not the kind I feel I need to recover from ;-) I met your friend,
Jean yesterday on the Roadtrippers check in!!! She sounds wonderful, like yourself and I look forward to meeting you both!

Wendy- Almost down to the wire with your X rotation? WTG:7 :7
Is this the last week then? Hopefully I'll be hearing soon about
letting you sub in for me on the classes during the RT.

Christine- I knew those puppies would have you and your DH plunking down money! I can understand your hesitation though and it's nice that this new litter will give you a choice. That merle coloring is
so cute and I think I'd hold out for one as well.
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR INTERVIEW!!!!! (fingers crossed)

Carole- Well, originally I was going to try arms and abs today but your eye candy remark made me change my mind;-) I previewed Shoulders and Back today.... you werent kidding! oooolahlah come to mama baby! Hey, wait a minute.... I am old enough to be his mama.....damn! Hope your calf has recovered.... love those foam rollers!

Jess- How very special that your DDs are getting baptized! I think it means so much more for them and for you when this is done when they are old enough for it to mean something to them! Congratulations. You sound like you have such a wonderful family:7
I think you've made the right decision in not going for the HM.
A serious increase in mileage right now could really aggravate
that tendon!!

Welll, time to get moving! Today will be BBC Shoulders and Back
(thanks to Carole) and Cardiofusion:7 :7 Then it's nap time :)

ShellyC

Kristi--- WTG on those runs!!!! I'm so glad your calf and foot have recovered. I think it would be a good idea to go to the podiatrist anyway, there may be a tendency for this to recur depending on what the problem was and you can get some good advice or maybe some orthotics will help.

Anyway, great time on your run! Thank you for the B-day wishes.

Oh, I forgot to mention in my other post, I lost 2.5 pounds this week. Let’s hope the scale keeps going down, but my sweet tooth is getting the best of me lately. Okay, all the time! :)

Karen – Great job on your race! 1:32 is an awesome time!!

Cathy – Thank you so much for the card. You are so sweet to think of me and my aunt. Try not to do too much. Take it easy when you need to.

Laura – Feel better soon! The running and races can come later.

Marcia – Good luck with the weight loss. The scale will move soon with all the hard work you have been putting in. Maybe it just hasn’t caught up with you yet. :) I second Wendy’s suggestion for zigzagging. I lost 35 pounds doing it last year, trying to lose the baby weight.

Gayle – Good job with your training. Is your HM April 21st ? Congrats to DS! You have every right to be a proud Mama.

SunnyD – You are always one motivated cheetah! So, how excited are you about your upcoming cruise?

Wendy – Aren’t you finished with the X yet? JK :) :) You have a came a long way with the X. What will you do when you are finished?

Christine – The puppies are SOOO adorable. Good luck with your decision. It would be so hard to not keep them both. Maybe holding out for the other litter might be a good idea in case they have the puppy you really want. Also, good luck with your interview. I’m sure you will ace it!

Cathy – I hope your calf pain is worked out by the foam roller. Have a great workout today!

Jackie – Great workouts as usual!

Jess – Congrats to your 2 girls on their upcoming baptism! It sounds like you have a fun-filled week ahead of you. Enjoy!! I think giving up the May HM sounds like a wise choice. It would be awful to be sidelined for the summer.

Linda – Enjoy your rest day! Monday did get here quickly. Why can’t the weekend last longer or at least feel like it does?

Shelly – Enjoy BBC Shoulders and Back and Cardiofusion. Try not to work too hard tonight!

Hey Ladies!

So I went and ran a few errands this morning....I felt like Susan as I went to Target for ONE thing and ended up with a basket full! My ONE $30 item turned into a bunch of stuff that cost $165! }( }( Ah well...it's only money, right? ;)

Jess: It's on it's way!

I'll be back for personals after my work out!

Have a great afternoon!:)

Hello ladies,

change of plans with my workout- i ran for 3.5 miles today. BBC legs will get done tomorrow. wanted to make sure i squeezed in a couple of runs this week since i have my second ever 5k this sat.:)

karen- congrats on your race!!!

wendy- i always do the same thing at target. they get soooooo much of my $$. today it was kohl's:p :D

kristi- only 19 more days and i am cruisin'......whooooooooohoooooo, i can't wait, i can't wait!!

christine- tell me again when you are coming to nc. i am going to check and see how close/far emerile isle is from winston-salem.

carole- yes i love BBC's. i just knew you would love them too. ok, so i decided on the gel wraps.

linda-enjoy your rest day!

gayle-working out with dh is absolutely wonderful when we are lifting weights. he is able to push me like noone else can. now running on the other hand i discovered i will have to do without him;)

jackie- i am the opposite. he's great for weight training and walking but cardio with intensity...forget it. he needs cathe, lol

that's all i have time for ladies, i'm off to pick up older ds from school.

enjoy the rest of your day!

Ladies-
This has to be quick.

We got through the funeral of our friend on Friday and dashed off to Pittsburgh (5 hour drive) to watch Sam in a hockey tournament all weekend. It was great therapy to watch our kid and be thankful for all that we have.

The bad news is that our treadmill has broken. We have had it since 1999, and really used it as well as our kids using it from time to time. A new motor cost $500, so we will most likely get a new TM.

Today was to be my first day running again and we have had thunderstorms all day. Since the TM was broken I went to a gym and managed five slow miles in 54" But I used the foam roller before and after and stretched well. I 'll stretch again when I get up from this chair.

OK GTG~~~ hopefully I'll pick up with personals tomorrow.

PS~~ Thank you for your thoughtfulness Cathy :)

If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.

Sorry I meant to say Carole instead of Cathy for the calf pain and using the foam roller. I should have proofread better.

Target is evil, I tell ya!!! That's ok, I spent almost $100 at Kohl's between swim suits for the girls & a couple other things!! :p But they were all needed!!

Can't wait to try it out, thanks!!! Hope you had a good workout!

Judy ~ I didn't get a chance to say it, but I'm sorry about the loss of your friend. (((HUGS))) Sounds like you're busy as always. Bummer about the TM too, I killed mine a while back. }( It's a Nordic Track & I found out how hard it is to find someone to repair them.

Glad that you were able to run!! Good for you. And I'm glad that the foam roller is helping!!

G'afternoon!! I just finished w/ Legs & Glutes- leg press mania premix. Tons of leg presses on the high step! }( Then abs/ planks from B & G (the ones w/ the ankle weights & dumbbells).

We had a successful trip to Kohl's & managed to find each girl a swim suit that they were all happy with. They were good so we stopped at the park on the way home. What a gorgeous day!!

I'm going to either go for a bike ride when Greg gets home or go to the 5:15 spin class. I need to do some more biking, especially now that I'm not running again. Darn tendons!

Hope you're all having a good day! I just love this spring weather!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Well, I have completed Shoulders and Arms for THE LAST TIME for this rotation! I don't know if that's good or bad. I LOVE THAT WORK OUT! }( :+ }( I really "brought it" and upped my weights on a lot of exercises. It was the last time I was doing it and being a Cheetah, I couldn't take the easy way out! ;) Also, I decided to do ARX FIRST and OMG, why wasn't I doing that all along??? It made ARX sooo much more doable/tolerable and did not affect the main work out at all!!!! I'll have to remember that for next time!:)

DH is working o/t tonight so I may do yoga tonight after DS goes to bed (instead of tmrw) if DH is still at work...I'll see.

Okay, now for personals...

Christine, Gosh I don't envy you in trying to decide what to do about a new pup! I'm sure however you decide to do it, the dog you end up with will be a wonderful addition to your family just like Tucker was! Are you feeling a bit better these days? I hope so. :) How's DH coping?

Karen, Congrats on your race girl! WOOH!

Carole, I couldn't back down today. I had to do the X the "right" way so I made sure I "brought it" and went HEAVIER if I could!!!!}( Hope your calf feels better soon!

Jackie, Nice work out! A little bit of everything! Love it. Keeps the boredom away! I am feeling much better, thanks! I still have the tail of the cold left but not much at all. I'm happy I kicked it so fast (w/the help of Airborne ofcourse!)!:)

Jess, Let me know when you get the dvd. Let us know what you think of it! BTW, how can you NOT curse!!?? I was raised by a mom who has supervised big burly truck drivers for 20+ years...cursing is like a 2nd language to her so ofcourse I now "curse like a truckdriver" myself! LOL ;) We really aren't as bad as I make it sound and I've gotten better since having to watch it around Joey but I don't think I can go one full day w/o SOME kind of improper language slipping off my tongue!:p

Linda, Can't wait to hear that you've started an X rotation! Which one will you do??

Shelly, Lasagna and cake!?!? Hello?? Why wasn't I invited to this shin dig, missy!?!? :7 :7 :7 }( }( :p Can't wait to hear if I will be allowed to take an RT class! Thank you again for offering wether it can happen or not! You are da bomb!!!!:)

Kristi, WOW girl! You put out some AWESOME runs this weekend!!! You are my hero!!!!:+ I have another 2.5 weeks left of the X if you count the final recovery week. I plan on doing a BBC rotation when I am done. I need some endurance work after all of this heavy lifting!!!:7

Sunny, I LOVE KOHL'S TOO!!!! I spent some cash there this past week as well! LOL I spent a lot of money in the past week but at Kohl's it was mostly for Joey so that doesn't count, right? ;)

Judy, Sorry about your TM. Have you begun research into what kind of TM you might purchase to replace it?

Thanks for all the advice, girls, I will definitely mix things up a bit AND read "Eat to Live" for more ideas. I just get so bummed out and feel like a complete failure because this is something I have struggled with for so long and I can't seem to "get it right".

Thanks for being so patient with me, I sincerely appreciate it.

Marcia.

Good afternoon ladies,
Wow, chatty cheetahs today:)

I took a rest day today and just did some ab work and lower back exercises. My back seems to have flared up a bit. I went to a chiro today to have them look at adjusting. I know you ladies must be so SICK of me complaining about this injury. I am sorry:( I think that if this chiro does not help that I will finally get an MRI and see what really is going on. It has been 5 months now and while I can do my elliptical and some step videos with no pain, I still cannot run and that is just not acceptable to me. So, I'm am going to fix this thing if it is the last thing that I ever do. Oh, that felt good to get off my chest. Anyway, I have been a bit droopy the past couple of days over this whole thing.

Okay, no more complaining, I promise. I do not have that much time now for personals, because I have to go take Ally's science fair project to the school and it is pouring here and I have to figure out I am going to keep from getting it wet. I will be back tomorrow cheetahs and hopefully in a better mood;-)

Susan

Susan ~ Whine away. I feel like I've been on non-stop injury mode myself. It's the running that does it, every time. It's a good thing I've found other forms of cardio, but running is so much easier to do/ fit in!!! I know we're being smart by not running, but sometimes that's all I want to do!! Last summer I was so into racing & never had any major problems til the marathon. :-( Now I feel like I'm a walking injury!

Hope Ally's project got there w/out getting wet!! I had to take Hannah's project in last week, thankfully picked the one morning it wasn't raining!

Great job w/ the workout, Wendy!!! You're almost done! Home stretch here you come!

As for cursing, well believe me in high school I used to have a potty mouth. I guess it's all in the thinking & who you are around. You know, I have NEVER heard my dh curse. EVER. He just amazes his friends that he can seriously injure himself or whatever w/out cursing. I actually don't like a lot of *R* movies because there's just too much profanity. One thing I can't stand is when people curse around their kids all of the time & they just pick it up like it's acceptable. (my dh has a friend that was in the Navy & you should hear his kids!) My kids know better, I seriously can't even say the word *f-a-r-t*. One word that I used to say was crap & after Hannah started saying that at age 3 I found out how careful you have to be with what you say. You'll find that as Joey gets older. ;-) We actually make up funny words to say. Anyway, just my preference.

Afternoon, ladies—

I quickly finished up my schoolwork for tomorrow and feel a nap coming on, so after a few personals, I have to give in and snooze just a bit.

Marcia :: I’m with Jackie ~ I highly recommend Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle . It spells out very clearly some different things you can do to break plateaus, and it covers the zig-zag method quite thoroughly. Are you carefully measuring portions and writing down EVERYTHING? Also, since you are doing the X, I wouldn’t be surprised if your scale doesn’t drop much, but your INCHES do. Do you like what you are seeing so far? Are your clothes fitting any better? If these things are going in the right direction, the scale might be slower to catch up. Hang in there!!

Gayle :: your enthusiasm and determination are inspiring…WTG being back on track!!…Thanks for sharing the feel-good vibes about your DS’s baseball success.

Christine :: OK, you’re making me want a puppy! I’m glad you have a few weeks to figure out if you’re ready. Good luck with your interview – knock ‘em dead!…Thanks for sharing your thoughts re: the X. Maybe it is the combination that’s wipin’ me out.

Karen :: I can imagine the wind was times 10 at the shore!

Carole :: yes, my skin looks really great now, so I guess the side effects are the price I have to pay for it. *lol* Hope the calf pain subsides for you.

Jackie :: nice workout, as always!

Jess :: I agree that giving up the May half might be a good idea considering your ongoing pain. Hope it heals soon! You might want to try finding your trigger point. Try this: whatever leg is ailing you, cross it over your other knee. Now, use that knee to go in circles & massage deep into the calf. Aim for a spot near the top of the calf, toward the outside of the muscle. If you find it's tender, you've hit a trigger spot. If this isn’t making sense, click here: http://www.triggerpointbook.com/plantarf.htm

Linda :: I was on Retin-A Micro as well as Solodyn and another antibiotic & topical – the names escape me at the moment. Enjoy your rest day…I agree – another Monday here too fast!

Shelly :: mmm, ice cream cake – my favorite! I love Carvel…Have a great workout with the eye candy & Cardio Fusion!

Kristi :: YW…great runs with the baby jogger!! Tough workouts! I agree not to cancel your podiatrist appointment. It sounded like you might be having some biomechanical issues, so leave it to the expert to see whether or not something needs to be done for you. Better to play it safe, in my book. Congrats, too, on the weight loss – AWESOME!

Sunny :: the cruise countdown is ON!

Judy :: YW…sorry to hear about your TM. I’m glad watching Sam’s hockey tournament helped brighten up what’s been a dark time for all of you.

Wendy :: good idea about doing ARX first…never $%@*# occurred to me. ;)

Susan :: I don’t look at it as though you are complaining about your back injury – you’re just reporting & sharing your progress & what’s going on with you. No need to apologize! Maybe the MRI and/or a second opinion is a good idea.

OK, I'm really fighting to keep my eyes open here, so I'm going to catch a few (hopefully short) zzz's. I'd like to still work out, but I am going play by ear. Thanks, everyone, for the support!

-Cathy :)

Just woke up and am not feeling like the nap helped much. I'm thinking the only thing to do is wake up early and hit CST then -- when I'm fresh rather than do a half-a** job.

Now I'm off to go check out part of a student's ice hockey championship game. I'm looking forward to coming home & going to bed!

Talk to you all in the AM!
Cathy :)
