::::: CHEETAHS ::::: Monday, 1/29

Susan- Great job with the yoga. I know we were just talking about your back the other day. I'm glad it felt right again. I can't wait to get my eliptical. I figure two more months tops. I'm waiting for income tax money.

Judy- I normally listen to music when I run but lately I have been getting bored of the same 60 songs that I have heard over and over again. Yesterday I put on some idiotic show on MTV. It kept my atteniton because it was so over the top. I think it was called My Super Sweet 16. Anyway don't ever watch it. It did keep me in awe of how out of control people are with their kids and money. I switched it off and watched What not to Wear. So it was a good 90 min of televison yesterday.

Barb- I did Slim and Lean. It's the only one of Jari's that I have. I should get RTTC. I have heard good things aobut that as well. I really liked it a lot. I'm glad I gave it a second shot. It's a perfect cross trainer.

Jess- What triathalon are you doing? My friend is doing one in Philly July the 8th.

Hey Karen!! I'm just doing a very small triathalon not too far from my house!! (I don't feel comfortable posting so much personal info on a public board!). The great part is, I know the area very well, it's where we hike, fish, etc. And, a good friend lives right by I guess we'll go right by her house so she'll have a cheering section for me!! Anyway, I'm getting excited about it now that I'm getting more comfy w/ the swimming. I just hope my knee cooperates. At least I *know* I can run the 5K, just depends on how my knee cooperates as how fast it will be!! LOL

How's your IT band?? Do you have a strap that you use for it? I'm thinking of getting one plus I need new shoes anyway. I'll see what my running shoe store guy recommends. You're doing great w/ the increasing longer runs!!

Awww, aren't you always a sweetie Barb. I'm glad to see you posting again too. I know, it seems like we've had busy weekends every weekend! That's ok, like I said, I like to be busy!! And I love having my Mom visit. We always have so much fun & the girls adore her. She's thinking of joining a community center so she can use the pool there (she always seems to want to do what *I* do, it's the standard joke now! LOL) It would be good for her to do, she's had knee surgery & has trouble doing a lot of walking or high impact.

I have a hard time doing over 4 miles on the TM too, it just drones on & on!! I can't wait for it not to be so cold out!! Sounds like your son is doing great swimming. I'm taking the girls swimming in a bit. I'm going to sign them up for some lessons so that they can get stronger & more confident in the water. We spend a lot of time at the pool in the summer so they'll enjoy it more!

Have a great day!

Jess--so nice that you can inspire your mom.
BTW, my kids were not into lessons, disliked swimming until my older son was in 6th grade. (He's in 8th grade now and loves the sport on his own, no parent influence, just massive parental support of it all!)

Now the younger one does it inspired by his older brother.

I think you're right, though, that essons are a great idea, though. So much depends on the teacher and the other kids, if it's a group, and whether it all feels fun for a kid!

Have a great day!

Hey ladies,
I am back from the gym and did 50 minutes on the elliptical and it was just what I needed this morning. I will do yoga with my hubby tonight also.

Cathy, Enjoy Jari today. I saw that you mentioned me about the results with leg work. I have to stress how much the butts and gutts is changing my legs. I have done heavier weights for legs and have had okay results, but this butts and gutts dvd is really changing my legs and glutes. I think I have probably lost some strength in them, but they are so much leaner and just more shapely. Have you been doing butts and gutts as well?

Sunnydelite, congrats on the 3lb weight loss. I have been holding my own with the weight. I still have a lot of work to do on cleaning up the eating, but it, as you know, is an ongoing process:)

Barb, GREAT job on your 7 mile run. I always felt so accomplished with anything over 6 miles. We bought the nordictrack 1055. I hope I did not discourage you from getting one. I know Carole has had great luck with hers. We could have just ordered a new belt, but my hubby is very reactive when it comes to things breaking so quickly. I know with Caroles she did not have the ramp on hers. I think the ramp is harder on the belt and puts more wear and tear on the machine than the ones without the ramp(incline). Anyway, good luck with whatver your purchase. They have a lot of nordictacks at Sears. You should check it out:)

Marcia, don't sweat the eating weekend. You seem very commited to your diet and you are very disciplined. I used to always just hate myself on Monday morning, but I am learning that it is okay to have a eating weekend now and then. Enjoy your step class.

Wendy, enjoy yoga x and congrats on making it to you rest week. You have been so committed. I hear ya about housework. They should make that into a exericise video.

Laura, I am sorry to hear of your frustration with the weight loss and the eating. I know sometimes I too just get sick of the whole dang thing. It sometimes consumes so much energy worrying about it all the time. I know you are so committed to your routine and how frustrating it is not to always get the results you want. Just watch what you eat and keep what you are doing and maybe change up your workouts a bit. You could maybe add 10 more minutes of cardio each session or maybe try a completely different form of cardio, like the bike or stepper. Or, sometimes going heavier with the weights can shock your system, but just make sure you always mix it up. It is funny for me,but when I do too much cardio, my body is a little heavier than when I balance it out with the weights and some yoga. Another trick that has worked so well for me these last couple of years is never eating after dinner. I have said this before, but has really changed things for me. Anyway, (((HUGS)) to you.

Shelley, ENJOY your recovery week and let that injury heal:)

Kristi, GREAT job on the 5lb weight loss!

Carole, which Iclmbs would you recommend for the elliptical? And, do you just keep the elliptical on manual and just listen for instrucions?

Emjoy Power 90x and CF. I can't wait to do CF again, great calorie burn:)

Judy, wow, what a great workout! Are you enjoying your new elliptical?

Jess, glad you are enjoying the yoga. I have that Baron, but can't remember if I like it. I will pull it out and give it a try. Sorry to hear about your knee still giving you problems. Are you still going to physical therapy?

Karenvictoria, That is great that you are getting an elliptical too. I think we really need an elliptical check-in:) I SO enjoyed my yoga session. My mind just felt so clear after it. I have really MISSED it. I will do Bry later today.

Christine, so are we on for next Friday? I still need my Indian food and cheetah fix:)

Well, ladies I am off to shower and get my little Mariah. I hope you all have a great day!

Susan

Hey Girls! I just finished Yoga X. :)

I am still waiting for my Baron DVD. It was shipped but I always choose the free shipping option so I think a snail delivers it to me on his back...literally!:7 Hey, it's the FREE option though so I can't complain, right? ;)

Carole, Oooooh Chest and Back! What fun! I love that work out!}( ENJOY!:) So what's this I hear about the east coasters possibly coming out to Cali for a race next January???}(

Karen, Glad you enjoyed S&L. I really like Jari's vids for endurance training. I did an endurance rotation for a few months using prettty much only her vids. It was great!

Susan, Sorry to hear about your elliptical. I would say that stinks but considering what you got after it broke...maybe a congrats on the broken elliptical is an order instead!}( LOL about the house cleaning exercise vid!

Judy, NICE RUN! You had a great pace going there! Good for you! And you did FIREWALKERS before you ran?? WOW!
Yoga X was good today. I tend to start out enjoying it, then start thinking that I can't wait until it's over but then there comes a point where that stops and I just enjoy it again. LOL I feel very accomplished when I am done-now that I have managed to see it thru to the end TWICE!:)

Kristi, Yeah-you don't want to push to hard too fast or you set yourself up for injury. I know I could have more mileage under my belt as I increased VERY slowly but I have enjoyed the slow pace I've taken it at. It's allowed me to enjoy it more. I have played with my speed alot instead and have been able to increase it! YEAY!:+

Jess, Ain't TTOM a b*TCH!!? LOL I hate it cause my face breaks out during PMS-ACK!x( I hope your TV can be fixed for little $. Whenever I have had a tv go it's been after many years and it's not worth it to have it fixed. Hopefully you'll have a different situation.

K, I think I'm caught up. Time for a shower!:)

Cathy, I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Let me know if the rest of the address was ok if not I'll pm you.

I ran today. I thought it wasn't too cold 18 but the wind!I didn't look at the weather report - 15 to 25 mph off of a frozen lake. I had hat gloves etc but I didn't bring a muffler. I think I still have a nose. 3 miles and then I had a cup of hot tea!

I'll read posts later. Off to do a short stretch, shower and pick up DS from school.

Okay any cheetahs interested in coming to Calif next Jan to run, this is the site (although it has not been updated to next years date) the pics are cool... http://www.trinidadtoclambeach.com/index.htm

Susan...Glad you are feeling better after the stomcah flu. That is awful about the belt breaking on your Elliptical. What a sweet DH for getting you a very good one...:)...yep, you are spoiled, be PROUD of it!...:)..I have most of the iClimb 40 min ones. I just use manual and then go to whatever level Keith says.

Judy..good job with 6 miles on the TM. I honestly don't know how you ladies can do mileage on those machines.

Karen...I have only done S&L once myself. I can't seem to find a place to fit it in these days....:(

Barb...my long run of 12 miles yesterday went well. I felt really good and could have pushed but my friend was slowing down a bit so I stayed with her. That is quite bizarre about your DD's HR? You would think in meets it would be much higher due to nerves. But nerves could be why he isn't swimming as fast as he could...in practices he is probably more relaxed...

Jess...sounds like a nice visit with your Mom. I am feeling right on track with my eating too...finally!

Wendy...hope you get your Baron DVD soon! I posted the website for the run at the top (in case you missed it!!)..Chest & Back was a killer....

Well my lower back had really been hurting and I was hoping it was not sciatic! My nephew gave it a good adjustment and showed me some stretches, so I am hoping for the best!!

P90X was fun this morning and I forgot how tough ARX was....wow....:)

Carole,
Gosh, I hope that your lower back is not sciatic. Have you had any leg pain or glute pain? I hope the adjustment did you some good. I tell ya ever since I hurt my back, I treat it right. The yoga felt good on my back last night. I just made sure that I bent me knees for all the forward bends and did not come up too far on the upward dogs.

Those pics of the race look wonderful. I would love to do that. We will have to talk all the cheetahs into it. It is great that there are so many different distances to choose from:)

Colleen, great job on running in the cold!

Susan

Carole--thanks for posting this run information. I am going to think about whether I could swing this. The distance options are great -- like Susan said. I will read through it more closely, but it looks like you would fly to San Fransisco?

My DS is definitely nervous -- but his HR was not high before racing. He just talked to a friend who was a swimmer in college who suggested he isn't warming up enough immediately before his events, i.e needs to swim a longer distance/which involves some time planning, not a strong suit at the age of 13, but he can work on it!

-Barb
:)

Susan...no pain at all in my glutes or down my leg. I am taking it easy after the adjustment. But I did feel the adjustment did good for my pain! It would be way fun for us cheetahs to do Clam Beach next year!!

Barb...I am sorry for putting DD instead of DS in my post. I might be dyslexic as I get those initials for sons and daughters mixed up for some reason? He very well could be not warming up enough. I am impressed at 13 he is already trying to figure these things out!...:)...I would think San Fran would be a good fly in place. I'll look into it and maybe Christine knows the area a bit better than me and she will help.

Christine....where are ya?....I have a question. Is the Krystal you use on your nails from a company called Linen Batiste, or is it Backscratchers?...thanks if you know...

Jess- My friend is doing an all womens triathalon. I think she said it was a 5k, 17 mile bike, and 1/2 mile swim. She is having trouble with the swimming as well. She just joined our local Y to start.

Carol- So sorry to hear about your back. Take it easy.

Susan- Now as soon as I get my eliptical we can trade secerts. My friend just got the Eionn ( forget last name) and she loves him. Now of course I have to get it.

Wendy- Great job on the Yoga X
karen

Carole--don't worry about the DD vs. DS. I knew who you were talking about. Sorry about your back, though. I hope the pain stays in the calm-zone. It's neat to see DS try to figure things out and I hope he can work it through.

Karen--Isn't that the case? When you hear about something good someone else has, it's really tempting to get it. My entire DVD collection is a testament to that!

Susan--I appreciate the elliptical info. It looks like yours is a different model than Carole's. We are in the early phase of researching it all and seeing if it's something we even have room for somewhere in the house. I'm glad you are back in the swing with yoga. That must be a relief!

Hey ladies -

I've been a bit quiet today. It's the one year anniversary of my mom's death, so I'm dealing with a mess of emotions. I did get in a workout - P90X Chest and Back and Muscle Max abs - so I feel good about that right now. We're going to have a mini-memorial service for my mom tonight at home around the dinner table. I'm going to get a cake and light some candles (not on the cake - but beside it)to celebrate her life, then when the candles are lit we're all going to recount memories.

I'm going to skip most of the personals today - so please forgive me. I'm not trying to be rude if I miss you. And I want to thank everyone for the well wishes on the virus. Turns out DD17's boyfriend could have fixed it had he been in town. The kids practically lived at our house over break - and now he can't be found... :+ (he's in Santa Fe for a wedding, actually)

Shelly - fortunately it is a minor, minor groin pull. I'm just going to avoid impact exercises this week - stick mainly to elliptical, spin bike and weights - and then start running again next week. Better safe than sorry.

Carole - unfortunately, I have no clue as to the brand of Krystal they use. I will ask them this weekend when I get them redone. I do get compliments on them.

Susan - absolutely we are on for the 9th!!! I really cannot wait to see meet you!!

Barb - thanks.

Hugs to all! I'll be back tomorrow in full force. I plan to do Leaner Legs AND Spinervals Hillicious...

Just a quick check-in...I just finished RTTC...only the 2nd time I've done the workout...it was OK...enjoyed looking at Ben. }( :)

I'm sorry I don't have time for personals (it's getting late!) EXCEPT I just wanna send ((((HUGS)))) to Christine on the anniversary of your mom's passing. What a touching way to remember her. Thinking of you & wishing you peace & warm memories.

I promise I will catch up w/ everyone else in the AM!!

Good night, all! :)
Cathy

christine- hugs to you on the anniversary of our mother. I know I still miss my sister and its been along time.

TO ALL OF YOU: that gave good advice to me, thanks. I appreciate all ofyour support and you all are right. I just have to figure out what this body of mine is doing right now. thanks!!

I definately think I need to do longer cardio's, that is part of my problem I know. I get so caught up in bootcamp, which is short cardio mixed with wts. Maybe I will shock the class and do 2 long cardios next monday. they will crap their pants. tonight one of the girls asked me ,joking of course, are you made at me, because I was working them hard tonight. I laughed and said no.

off to bed , talk with you later!

((((((((Christine))))))))))!!!!! I hope you are in better spirits tomorrow morning, hon.

Cathy: The check is in the envelope, addressed with a stamp so all I have to do is put it out for the postman and we're in business! LOL

Laura: It can be a game of trial and error to see what works for your body, especially as it's changing. I was always a cardio nut but am discovering through P90X that it may not be the best way to go for me! Atleast not these days. Do what works for you and once it stops working, try something new! Sometimes just the change is enough to make things happen!:)

Well, I thought I might be getting sick as of last night so I started with Airborne (thanks to Cathy!:)) and took it again tonight. I definately caught something. It's bearable right now though I feel worse then I did y'day. I hope it doesn't get any worse from here on out!:-( I can still function, work, do my work outs right now but if it gets worse, I'll be down for the count. ACK!x( x( x( Please send me healthy vibes ladies! Thanks!:)

Off to bed with me now.

Catch you all in the morning!:)
