///CHEETAHS///friday-eve

well, the fact that the forums are now blocked at my work coupled with the fact that i have had a nasty head/chest cold and raging pms and have been coming straight home from work to go to SLEEP has left little time for me to post. i am going to try to catch up from my post on sunday...i haven't read anything else, so please forgive me if i repeat stuff.

no workouts to report because i haven't worked out since last thursday but i am going to attempt muscle max or mis this morning if i feel okay.

wendy-yeah, sorry about my reaction to you at first. it took me a few to recognize you. it's difficult when you only see photos opf people. that was something i was surprised about. i thought a lot of people didn't look like i thought they would after seeing their pics. next time, you can just wear "shunner" on your forehead!!! ;) btw. i CAN'T believe joey got a toddler bed!!!

carole-the goat os doing okay. he just needs to have his horn surgically removed. as far as the alpaca (jasper) he was doing well on wednesday then worse on thursday. from what i understand, it is really a 50/50 as to whether he will make it and they can be fine one minute then not the next.

judy-i am with you 100% on what you said about nutrition books. i really think gillian has a lot of good points (as does tosca, etc.) and i just try to incorporate a little from each. i won't be juicing, either. it was explained that the reason she juices during a detox os she doesn't want to "tax" your body while you are detoxing. makes semse, but i'm not running out to buy a juicer! my day at the sanctuary was awesome, as usual. just being with the animals is so wonderful. i think i feel most at peace when i am there.

dallas-because of all that has been happening with you i was SO HAPPY to see you did the half. cross fingers that we can get into the nike half next time. i REALLY want my tiffany medal!!!

christine-i really think being at the sanctuary is one of my favorite places to be. i feel so at peace there. see my post to carole re: the status of the babies.

wt-of course we are wt's because that is the EXACT song i think of when i think of billy! i even sang it to him on sunday! i still owe you a phone call. maybe when i actually have a voice that doesn't sopund like a honking goose!

linda-glad to see you back from vacay!

karen-i do believe prayers help and i thank you for keeping our animals in your prayers. they need it.

wendi-it was so awesome to be abl;e to spend time with you during the rt. i only wish it was longer. i am still completely amazed at how high you can jump!!! i posted my rt photos on www.photobucket.com/lederr there are two or three of you. :D

hi to shelly, posh, and anyone else i inadvertently left out (can i blame it on the cold and raging pms???).

i hope you all have a GREAT friday-eve!!!

Good morning, cheetahs!
th_happy-038.gif

Going into the classroom today to set up. I plan to get in early and am hoping it won't take the whole day. Workout later (run + WP butt-buster).

Gloria :: yikes! That must've been scary. IA--I don't like the drills, either. The whole thing's freaky, but we do need to be prepared.

I'm otherwise caught up on personals, so this'll be short n' sweet.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

ETA: Lor :: wicked combo you got there--feel better soon!

Good morning gals!

Ahhhhh, finally got out for a run. Too bad it will be the only one until Sunday, at the earliest. It was odd running in the dark again, and a bit unsettling knowing that we now have a black bear that frequents the area, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right:p? Opted for an enjoyable 5 miler.

I caught up with personals last night so this will be brief....

Lorie - Uggggghhhhh, sorry about the raging cold but I'm glad that you are actually RESTING!!! You'll be back at it soon enough. How's the injured goat doing? Poor thing:(! I had such a blast with you at the RT! Thanks for the link and photos...gonna go check em out right now. Oh, you're too funny about the jumping...hey, gotta give credit where credit is due...the FLOOR!!!!

Cathy - Eeek I couldn't imagine going through THREE abscesses:eek::(. Do you have Terminator by any chance? Now THAT'S a circuit *devil horned smiley*.

Gloria - I can't blame you for not being too thrilled with a lockdown. Scary what the world is coming to these days:(.

Gotta go get cleaned up, pack lunch and get my behind out the door. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Mornin Girls. :)

Christine: Did you get through the day okay being tired yesterday? I was tired too. I was lying in bed skimming through magazines by 9pm. Sorry you had to skip your ride but you listened to your body and that's very smart. You are a smarter girl then I tend to be. LOL

Carole: I missed Shawn Johnson's gold medal routine. I keep missin' all the good stuff! DOMS from B&G? Yeah, that's pretty standard I think. Did you wince when you sat on the toilet? :D

Linda: I am trying it. I am not doing any weight training for the remainder of the week. I started yesterday. We'll see what happens. It's okay right now as I'm still sore from Monday's work out but once that goes away I might get antsy..

Jackie: Are you considering Cathe's new weight vest? It's so awesome. I tried it on at the RT. It's only 10 pounds but seems heavier. I THOUGHT the guy said they will offer heavier versions in the future but don't quote me on that.

Karen: Glad you had such an awesome run yesterday. Gotta love that! So when are we gonna meet for coffee and donuts? ;)

Cathy: DOH! If you haven't figured it out, you can't count on me to remember details all too clearly. LOL Okay yes, now I DO recall that you initially ordered that DVD for C&W. Can't wait to hear what you think of it.
Sorry about about the cracked tooth. YEOWCH! Do you recall biting down on anything that could have caused that or was it a weakened tooth that just cracked over time? I hope the antibiotics have helped to relieve the pain. Nice work out y'day, btw! That's one heck of a mishmosh you created! Enjoy your day at school setting up. Do you at all enjoy that part of the job or I did I just make it worse by telling you to? LOL

Gloria: Sorry there are no good eateries local to you. Perhaps that's a blessing in disguise, no? ;) A lockdown? YIKES!

Wendi: Glad you don't have to deal with another hotel stay for the horse show. Good job gettin' the run in this morning. So you ran in the dark with a black bear in the area?? I hope you can mace or something!!! I bought mace when I first started running outside but was too afraid to use it! Go figure! LOL You have to test it to make sure it works or it's obviously not worth carrying. Well, I was too afraid to test it so I never carried it. I *FINALLY* bucked up and took it on my first training run a few weeks ago. I tested it on the grass to make sure it worked. I was sooo nervous about doing it though! LOL Now that I am using it, it makes me feel much better about running outside. I think the possibility of a loose, mean dog scares me the most!

Lori: You are still battling that cold? You poor thing. No wonder why you are used tantrum girl in your post today. LOL about shunner on my forehead! :p Hope you feel better soon!!!

I am planning a TM this morning at the gym. I think I will do ITread 3/40. It's a fast/flat endurance run. It's the first ITread I ever bought and I haven't done it in a while. :)

I feel so bad for my poor dog. Golden's are known for skin allergies and my dog is no exception. He gets a rash on his belly periodically that goes away on it's own. We are not sure what causes it but the vet saw it a while ago and wasn't worried about it. Well he has that but now he also had something on his backside. They were large open sores or something and he was scratching, chewing and just totally irritating them so they wouldn't heal. I called the vet and made an appointment for last night. So ofcourse DH comes home and sees that they are healing. They've dried up and scabbed so he suggests cancelling the appointment so I do. 15 minutes later, after inspecting the dog, he asks me to call back because he's sees a different looking rash or something on other parts of the dog's body that he's never had before. Well, the appointment is already booked and there are no other appointments available so I hang up. This morning? OMG! It's spread EVERYWHERE! You can't see it cause it's under his fur but when you look at his face he looks pathetic! His snout, jowls are are lumpy looking. Goldens have a natural point at the top of thier skull. Well this point is now a huge lump!!!! Needless to say I called back and DH is bringing the dog to the vet tonight at 6pm. I am hoping the doc can tell us what caused this so we could avoid it in the future if it's possible but I'll bet with out some ridiculously expensive tests, that won't happen. He'll just give us medication to get rid of it.

Okay, novel over!:p

BBIAB!

Well I've managed to totally freak myself out and start crying over my dog so I called to make an earlier vet appointment. I'm leaving here in a hour and can't wait to get there. I'm so nerved out about this. Originally DH was going to take him because he's not trained properly on a leash so it will be very difficult for me to control him and hang onto DS at the same time to get them into the vet. I called the vet when I started wigging though and they said someone will come out and assist me into the building if I call from the lot. That's all I needed to hear. I'm there. I need to eat before I go but I feel so sick to my stomach with worry that I just can't. I am bringing a snack cause I know once I relax I will immediately be STARVING!!!! Please pray that nothing bad happens between now and getting to the vet. I don't think I could handle it.

Sorry to lay this on you girls and bring y'all down like this. I'll post when I get back from the vet and let you know the outcome. I pray it looks worse then it actually is!!!!

Good Morning Cheetahs!

Karen – Oh My! I hope your DD9 is okay! That cannot feel good! I would imagine that it would be a long time to get everyone calmed down. Ouch! Hope dinner went well.

Gloria – Can you get ground turkey? There are a ton of recipes on line on how to flavor ground pork and turkey to make your own sausage. That might be doable. I guess I’m spoiled. I thought turkey sausage was one of the staples of life! :p Great job on the 5 miles!

Wendy – great job with your interesting workout! Not so sure how smart I am – I did end up with 11 miles on the bike because I was riding around. So, my “rest day” was more active than rest, but that’s okay. :p I was okay after I woke up, but I was asleep on the sofa at 8:30 and just decided to go to bed. :p Oh, poor puppy!!! I’ll be thinking of him today! I hope it’s just an allergic reaction. Jimmy itchy too, but not like that. Keep up informed. When you get back, I’ll give you some tips on leash training. Good luck!!

Cathy – I’m lucky in that California is very bike friendly, but even with that, the bike lanes run about ¾ of the way through my commute, so I swing over to a back road (which has a school on it, so after this week that’s out, but there are other ways) to continue. It’s scary out there. Oh HAVE FUN with IMax2! Enjoy your trip to the classroom! Did they switch you around again?

Wendi – Oh good, you got in a run today! You need a Jimmy to run with – re: the bear – that would be a bit unsettling! I’m so glad you get to stay at home this weekend!! Yes, sleeping in your OWN bed and eating your own food is so important. The lasagna is a winner. Enjoy it!

Lorie – oh my! Sounds like today is NOT your day! Hope you’re feeling better!! I’ll keep the babies in my prayers. Glad the goat will survive. He’ll look funny for a while, but don’t they lose their horns yearly?

Way to go to the US Woman’s Beach Volleyball team (I’m watching live – there are advantages to being up with the birds!). My workout today is TT Big Five A, P90X+ Abs, and a bike ride in the afternoon with my friend. Should be a good time. I’m thinking of walking in to work with Jimmy, then walking back with him over lunch and returning with the bike. That way we’ll both get exercise. :p We’ll see. Depends on how early I get moving. Have a great day all!

Christine: So ya worked out after all? LOL I like your walking/biking plan today! I say go for it! :)

Well I've managed to calm down some. I took the dog and Joey outside to play for a few minutes and the dog looked pretty happy. That made me feel better. When I came in I was able to eat some cereal as well. 45 mins to go until I leave. I hope I can maintain my composure until then!:p

I am thinking this morning's run will be going out the window because of the vet appointment but on the off chance that we get outta there FAST, I am going to pack clothes and my ipod so I can quickly drop the dog at home and head to the gym if there is still time. If not I will probably see about getting out the door to be at the gym for 4pm sharp when the daycare re-opens. I should be able to squeeze in a quick run and shower and still make it to my mom's for our weekly visit at a reasonable time. Wish me luck!

Hi Cheetahs!

Wendy- Oh my! I am praying for your sweet dog! Please come back and let us know how he and you are managing! AOSNewport really works everything, especially core and heart and with all those squats/ lunges lower body too.

Christine- How nice that you get to ride to work! What will Jimmy do with you at work? spin class was a great sweat fest! But it may be canceled. The teacher called me ahead to let me know, so I wore my cross trainers. If it is canceled I will return the shoes. I did AOSNewport after I got back from spin. What was i thinking? PS only my sit bones are sore this morning.

Cathy- Oh, tooth pain is not fun! Perhaps getting your classroom set up will be a helpful distraction

Lorie- Well TG this week is almost over, it has not been a good one for you! How are the cold symptoms now?

Wendi- Sleeping at home is always better! I have so many out of town weekends coming up with DS and DD and their sports. I do try to bring a cooler of healthy snacks and breakfasts along. The running in the dark already is scary, especially with a black bear in the area!

Karen- Yikes!!!! How is DD this morning? I was a big sewer as a kid, but Dsis and I never had an incident like that. Did it go through her fingernail?

Jackie- nice going getting that post in while boss was busy!

Carole- so you had a nice massage ? heavenly. I am doing better resting the foot. This week cardio has been bike at home, EXT at home andspin class. today will be one more cardio one of the above. Spark people is getting easier again, and i am 'in the groove.' I have rediscovered soft boiled eggs( no added fat or calories) for breakfast with a slice of sprouted bread~ yummy!

Dallas- Whats up?

Linda- I'm sure you will do fine with you long runs. Are you having a break from the heat? I am anxious to run again, but I will be cautious.

Gloria- You are a sweety to give the girl you tutored a gift!

Hi Shelly:) and Thommassina:)

OK, so as mentioned above, I did AOS Newport yesterday after spin class. It was definitely a challenge, but I think it will still be a challenge without a spin class before hand. I did not maintain good form on all the core work. So, I'll be working on improving there. My KB was #15, and that was plenty for now. I was not going to do the Turkish Get Ups at the end or the 5 minute challenge, but I could not just stand there and watch, so I did it all!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...It might be the music in C&W first off (cannot stand that song "Build me up Buttercup")...GAGGING!!!. But the step work seems so slow and monotonous. I know you don't like step much so it might work out good for you, if that makes sense. I will send you my frequent flier root canal card. I have had 3. Glad the Advil kills the pain for you, I normally need something strong for tooth pain. Those pretzels sound yummy. I used to love these mustard ones made by Gardetto. Sounds like a great workout yesterday. Have fun with the run and tough Butt buster workout.

Lorie..so sorry about the nasty cold!! I hate feeling crappy. Thanks for the update on the animals. I hope Jasper pulls through.

Wendi...Glad you get to sleep in your own bed for this show! That Shawn was just so fun to watch on the beam. Wow, running in the dark? That can be a bit scary, especially with a black bear around. I saw one of those bears, a bit too close once on a trail run. Scared me to death...

Wendy..sorry you missed Shawn's routine. I have really been into the Olympics this time so I try not to miss a thing. Actually sitting yesterday was not bad, it was just walking that I felt some DOMS. So sorry about your dog. I hate when stuff like that happens. I am sure the vet can give your dog some relief.

Christine...Yes, I totally agree that Shawn deserved her gold, with all the other crap that went on with Gymnastics. I was also cheering for the US Beach Volleyball game...May and Walsh are fantastic together. In your recipe fresh tomatoes rather than canned would be great and so much less sodium!! Too funny about the rain on your ride to work! Enjoy your workout and bike ride with your friend.

Judy...Yes, I did have a heavenly massage. I am trying for once every 3 weeks now. Glad to hear your foot is getting better with some rest. That is cool Sparkpeople is working well for you again. One egg does usually get you an "F" with Cathe's nutrition program in the cholesterol area!

Linda..I am not sure of Better N Egg's is vegan, but it is similar to Egg Beaters. It tastes nasty by itself but when you add things to it, it is good.

Jackie...Shawn just has the cutest smile. And to watch her parents in the stands made me cry, happy tears...:)..Good job on going heavier than Cathe in MM.

Karen...LOL..I can so relate to the hating HORMONES!!! My weight stays the same when I have my period too. But I usually have good loss the next week. That is cool your 6 mile tempo run fet so good. I love days like that. YIKES, I hope your 9yo's finger is better today!!

Gloria...I still have some B&G DOMS today. I must have really concentrated on working the muscles!! Good job on the 5 mile run yesterday. Yuk, I hate bathroom cleaning.

Today is MM legs and a 40 min iClimb on my EXT.

Have a great day...:)

Top of the morning to my cheetahs. Today I did a 3 mile easy run and then upper body premix from BM2. Short and sweet and to the point.

Lorie- I'm sorry the chest cold is lingering and winter hasn't even hit yet. Don't push it and you'll be back in no time.

Cahty- Have fun setting up your classroom today. Hope the run goes well this afternoon. I hope your teeth don't hurt so bad when your running up and down. You poor thing. I feel so awful about your teeth. Hopefully your mouth will be as good as your legs soon.:)

Wendi- Holy crap. A black bear. I would be looking out the cornor of my eye the entire run. Glad you got the run in even with the bear on the loose.

Wendy- Oh HUGS to you and your doggie. I can tell in your post how nervous your are. HUGS again. let us know as soon as you get back how your doggie is doing. She will be fine.:)

Christine- No fires in the kitchen and all was clam for the evening. this morning her finger is swollen but she is doing good. I keep seeing how you bike to work. That is so nice that you'er not that far and can do that and come home for lunch.

Judy- No it didn't go through the nail. She got it on the side of her finger and it went in one side and out the other. When I got to her she was stuck to the machine and didn't have the sense or calmness about her to turn the wheel and release herself. I felt so bad for her.

Carole- ? What do you think about doing a small run say 3 miles and trading it in for one eliptical day. For training I run 5 days. One long, one tempo or speed and three little runs say three miles. I wonder ( or have you ever done it) traded in one of the small runs for an eliptical day. HUMMM> Let me know your opinion. I was thinking maybe running only 4 days XT 2 days and one day of rest. Just thinking out loud here.

Good morning!

Karen – Oh my gosh!! Your poor daughter! I am sure that hurt! I’ll bet that was scary for you, too!

Wendi – That is great that you get to “drive back and forth” and not have to stay in the motel! I am sure you will probably feel better and more rested being able to sleep in your bed!

Gloria - Good job on the 5 miler yesterday! That is scary about the shooter and the lock down!

Cathy – Yes, I think I will treat the Distance Run as a training run. It will fit in well with the marathon training….I am just worried about me having to have skipped my long runs for the past 3 or so weeks, but hopefully, I can do it! Yay! So your Imax and C&W will be coming today! Sorry about your toot pain coming back!

Lorie – I am sorry about your head cold/pms! I am also sorry about you getting blocked from the forums! I hope they don’t do that to me again! I was locked out for at least 6 months….probably a lot longer *(but time runs together on me!)

Wendy – I hope the wt. recover week works well for you! I know what you mean about “feeling”antsy when the DOMS starts wearing off, though! LOL…we’re nuts, aren’t we ;) Oh my! Your poor dog! I hope his rash clears up soon! I hope all is well! Hang in there. It is nice of the vet’s personnel meeting you in the lot! Keep us posted!

Christine – That is so awesome that you can walk Jimmy to work and also ride your bike in! I’ll trade you locations and jobs!!! ;)

Judy – Great job on your workout! I cannot do Turkish Getups at all, with anything over 4-5 pounds! One of these days, I hope I can! LOL…..I hear ya on not wanting to stand there and watch! We were having a break from the heat, but starting today and on through the weekend, it is supposed to be very hot and very, very humid! Yuck! I hate, hate, hate the humidity! Hope you get a break from it!

Carole – I’m not vegan, but my SD is. I will have to try and find them! I do like Egg Beaters. Enjoy your EXT and MM Legs!

This morning was another 6 mile run and GS C&T Timesaver and abs from HSC.

Hi to everyone! BBL!

Linda

WENDY LOU

Good Morning!

Don’t have time to post a lot now, will have to get to it later if time permits but I just had to add this info for WENDY and her golden boy:

My dog (a Golden Retriever) had a similar skin condition with the scaly itchy scabs when she was a puppy and I spent $$$$$$$ on this one vet trying a lot of different remedies. The only thing that finally worked was feeding the dog AVODERM brown rice, oatmeal and chicken dog food. My dog is now 6 years old and when we end up feeding her anything else because we’re out of Avoderm, she breaks out something fierce with the lumpy sores and they too scab over. Gross I know, and it freaked me out as well, especially when it gets on the face…although your dog sounds like he’s got a more severe case going on. Anyhoo, I’m glad you’re taking him to the vet but I wanted to let you in on this same thing sounds like that happened to my golden girl in hopes of helping ease your mind a bit if it is the same thing.

Ok gotta get out and feed the horse, water his turn out, and then get my workout done….

I’ll post more later gals….have a great day everyone!!!

POSH

Linda- I was totally wigging out. I felt bad for both girls. The oldest is still apologizing this morning. I told her accidents happen. There good to go though. They are out playing in the yard now so all is well in American Doll land today. Enjoy the six miles.

Hi there to Posh too:D

Back from the vet. My dog is going to look like he has a drug problem for the next couple of weeks! LOL He's going to be on an antibiotic, benadryl, predisone (steroid) and ear drops. Each for 5 days to 3 weeks depending upon the med! The swelling in his face already looked better by the time we got to the vet. Perhaps my panicked state was making him look worse then he really was while I was home.

Anyway, the doc thinks it's a manifestation of a skin disease/condition that he was diagnosed with back in 2005. DH and I didn't think it was that because the symptoms look totally different but hey, we aren't the docs! In any case, he should be fine. Gotta go back in a couple of week so she can re-check him to make sure his skin is cleaning up nicely.

Ended up not needing assistance from the parking lot into the building as neither the dog nor the child were badly behaved BUT once we got inside the child was quickly getting on my bad side. I can honestly say that the dog behaved better at the vet then Joey did!

Gotta go fix Joey some lunch and get him to bed. I didn't have time to hit the gym after the vet and have decided it will be too rushed to try to hit it on the way to mom's so I will be doing some sort of cardio at home at nap time...

BBL!

Wendy- I'm so happy your dog is going to be ok. I was checking often to see when you would return with the good news. I'm glad you were able to take him and not have to wait around all day worrying. Enjoy your workout.

Karen - I could definitely understand why you would be worried about both girls! That would really be hard on your other daughter, too! Poor things!

Wendy - I am glad your dog is going to be okay and that both Joey and the doggie behaved! (well, until Joey got on your bad side ;) But....at least he waited til you got situated! :)
