:::CHEETAHS::: 1/24, Wed

It's Official!!!

I took the plunge and officially registered for my HM. There is no turning back now. I'm waiting for my DB to call me back so I can register him too. I'm both excited and very nervous. It will be a great personal goal to accomplish this year.

Good morning cheeahs! I had one night off and tonight I'm back for one more. But I slept like a log and am feeling energized again:)
Yesterday I tried out Amy Bento's Hi-Lo extreme. What a fun one! Very challenging too. I didn't realize when I bought it that she has premixes also, complete with circuits and weights. But talk about equipment intensive!! Anyway, I did love this workout for anyone interested in trying this.

Jess- aka the paintin cheetah:) Hope the knee is holding up for you. We'll be running a half on the same day... May5!! Sounds like yours will be the kind where it'll take you 30 minutes to reach the start! Mine is a relatively small one but extremely challenging. I did this one last year and there is a 2500 ft elevation climb in it:eek:

SunnyD- So now you have "only" one full time job as opposed to two?
I just don't know how you manage! Have a great leg day!

Cathy- I'm glad to see you stayed home today to kick this bug! I'll check the racing calenders in a couple of months to get a better idea of what's happening in NJ when I'm there. I actually did run the Barnegat Bay 8k last year. It was a beautiful and fun race.
If you can manage the trip it would be great to see ya and enjoy a run together:7

Marcia- Enjoying your DOMS from S&H? Isn't it funny how we're so happy to be sore? Have a good elliptical run today. Best of luck to you at your weigh-in but I'm sure it'll be good news for ya!

Wendy- I just put in for my vacation time so I'm excited about being there and want to plan NOW;-) Like I told Cathy I'll check the NJ racing calenders in a couple of months. It would be wonderful if I could find a race you and Cathy could get to:7 Going for some sore shoulders and arms to go with the lats today?

Judy- Another snow run for the indomitable Judy! Did Crosby finally let you share the keyboard?

Laurie- Hope your blahness will resolve soon. I think this time of year is pretty typical for that :( You've been through your share of difficulties lately also, hey we're here for ya! I know there is controversy about frequently weighing yourself but it can keep the weight in control while it's easy to do so. If the scale starts inching up a few pounds usually just a tweak in the diet will fix it. Anyway, I have no doubt you'll manage :)

Kristi- Sending some snow wishes your way:) It's pyramid day for you? You'll probably be dealing with DOMS tomorrow!

Christine- busy cheetah as usual! You and Wendy are inspiring me to have a go at some p90x. Maybe next week. I have some new workouts to enjoy right now ;-)

Barb- Hey there! I did really enjoy the Amy Bento workout. I have
her Advanced Step workout which I like and she really improved alot from that one. She is seriously high intensity which is perfect for me! As I told Jess my butt-kickin HM is on May 5. Are you planning any races?

Carole- I've been considering dusting off BM1 lately. It's a great classic. The SB match up does sound like it'll be a good one! Unfortunately I'm workingx( Well, I can catch snatches of it in patients rooms anyway. Have a great run today!

Time to get moving! Today will be Kelley Coffey's new Step Boxing workout and an hour on the elliptical. Then nap time:) before work.
Later!

RE: It's Official!!!

Kristi--I felt really scared when I clicked send on the registration form. You can do it! The training really works. You will do great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shelly--I have the Amy Bento kickbox Xtreme and like it for the cardio factor, but the combos were hard/weird at times. I'm still happy to have it though and am thinking of buying the hi-lo one.
I have the Kelly Coffey stepbox tape and like it overall. It took me a few times to get the choreography (I am challenged with this, though --2 left feet). Once I got the choreography down, I felt like I was able to focus on the Kickbox aspect and get a good workout from it. Let us know what you think.
No races planned for me yet. I'm still thinking. Maybe a 10K in the spring or something next fall. I remember that big steep hill you talked about last year for the HM...

Susan--Have fun with your elliptical workout. Glad Mariah Muffin is feeling better enough and wants to do P.J. day. You look beautiful in your pictures. :)

Barb:)

RE: It's Official!!!

OOH! OOH!!! I just sent back the proofs from the t-shirt company...check out what our shirts'll look like:

http://www.customink.com/temp/vendor/330868/1/cheetah07FRONT.jpg

I'm feeling a sudden rush of energy -- not only from the shirts but also, the UPS man just delivered my weighted k'boxing gloves and a DVD/book I ordered for school. Now if only my new workout vids would get here! :)

Laurie ~ I think it's easy to feel the doldrums in January. So many of us have similar goals, so we'll be a great support system for one another!

Judy ~ yes, I do teach English. Hope the paths along the canal today were conducive to running!

Kristi ~ woohoo on the HM signup! Enjoy PUB/LB.

Christine ~ Online @ 4:45 am? Welcome to my world of insanity! ;-) :) I am starting to feel better. I needed a day at home to recuperate. I know I sound like I'm always saying this, but I had 100 new papers to grade and they have to be in the kids' hands tomorrow, so I was able to bang that out while resting on the couch.

Barb ~ I just traded emails with your DH and let him know a check is forthcoming.

Carole ~ I haven't been on the scale in a few, so I'll be very curious to see how I make at the next weigh-in for the competition at school.

Susan ~ look at you, rubbing it in that you get to meet Christine! ;-)

Shelly ~ I am about an hour from the shore, so it's absolutely feasible. I've done a few races down there and really like running by the ocean! I'll keep my eyes peeled and will share w/ you any info I find. I'd love to meet up w/ you & Wendy! :)

Karen ~ your check arrived today! Thank you!

Cathy :)

RE: It's Official!!!

I’m back! I’m SOO enjoying the P90X workouts! Tony gets me like Cathe doesn’t – or maybe it’s just because I haven’t done that kind of work for a while. But I feel good! Did ARX – wasn’t too bad. But I still like Cathe’s abs better. Maybe because they don’t feel so tough? :+

Barb – CF is a great one! Sounds like you got in a great workout. Yeah, busy is a good thing. If I’m not busy, I get bored and start to eat out of boredom. Some of the issues I’m having are not fun, but I figure if we cannot do that exact server configuration, no one will die, then it’s an okay thing. It’s all relative. But I do better in a high pressure situation – I’m weird, I know. Thanks for the offer on the bike schedule. I’d love to see it if you have the time. No stress if you don’t! My bike is still sitting outside waiting to be taken to the shop. And it’s kind of like running – I love road biking and mountain biking, so I’ll have to take my other one in, too… *watches the $$$ fly out the window*

Carole – thanks! I am enjoying it. Surprisingly after six months of not doing any Tony, I’m still starting with the same weights I left off with. So, I’m happy. It hurts sooo good right now. Yeah, ARX is okay and I have fairly strong hip flexors, I just feel it more there than in my abs. Funny.

Jess – how do you like the Baron Baptiste Yoga for Athletes. I love Rodney Yee’s and I was thinking of getting Baron’s.

Susan – I’m excited too!! This will be fun! Good job at getting back on track and I hope you feel better soon! Hope Mariah does as well! What color were her pj’s?

Shelly – Oh, I’d love to have you join Wendy and I in the P90X rotation! Both of you ladies will keep me inspired. Tell me how you like the Step-Boxing workout. I enjoy it – just wish it were longer! Glad you’re doing better today! Sounds like a rough time the other day. {{{HUGS}}}

Kristi – GOOD FOR YOU!! My advice is no matter what, do not stress over this. Go out and enjoy the training. If it gets simply overwhelming, tell yourself that it is okay to walk some of it. Just go out there and do your best. Of course, you’ll run all of it anyway – but you always have the option…

Cathy – LOVE the shirts!!! Cannot wait to get them! How cute!! Glad you stayed at home, too. Of course you’re always grading papers – you’re an 8th grade lit teacher. If you weren’t always grading papers I’d worry about you. :+ Don’t worry about saying it over and over – we all admire you for your dedication.

Well, I’m off again. Had a moment while waiting for answers, so I thought I’d take advantage. Hugs to all!!

RE: It's Official!!!

Carole- thanks for the order of how you do legs followed by a run. :) I am surprised at the CA temps today.

Barb- I have not tried trail shoes. But today the snowy terrain was challenging; it was like running in soft sand for about 1/2 the run... As far as cardio coach goes, I have 2 revised, Candace 6 and Sean #6A. Yes I do think they help. ( I did Candace6 last week on my TM really pushing the speed and I was sore for 4 days afterwards!)

Cathy- the t-shirt looks nice

Jes- have fun painting and doing yoga too!

Shelly - you have quite a WO planned again.... the nap will be well earned my friend.

HI Five ^^^ Susan for getting back on track!

RE: It's Official!!!

You Cheetahs are speed demons! In a good way of coarse. I just get time to read the posts and it's time to go.

Cathy, the check goes out in todays mail, and thanks by the way, for being a teacher. I'm 53 with a 4th grade son. Raising him has really been an education for me to see how hard it is today for kids and teachers.

Laurie, Winter is always hard for me. I have a full spectrum light box that I try to sit in front of in the morning to keep me from turning into a complete bear. I just want to eat and sleep in winter. I put on 5 lbs. (I'm only 5'4 and now weigh 150 again.) my goal is 140 but I haven't been back to that weight since before my son was born. I work hard just to be 145.

I haven't run in 3 weeks and I've noticed my waist line getting bigger. For some reason running seems to be a better "weight loss" workout for me.

Cathes' cardio is tough but I seem to slim down when I run.

I better get my tush out the door. Time to just do it. 3 miles or bust today. Last night was Drill Max.

Colleen

RE: It's Official!!!

Christine - I do the same getting in trouble with boredom eating. Busy is good. But then, sometimes stress gets me, too! Pretty much, I'm always wanting to eat! *lol* Yeah, the load for English teachers does get heavy at times, but it's end of the MP, so it's been a little more than usual. Just wanted to apologize for saying it ad nauseum lately! :) Too much shop talk! (I admit, I have a workaholic tendencies.)

Judy - thanks! I can't wait til we get them.

RE: It's Official!!!

Colleen - good to see ya! Thanks for your thanks. :) Great job getting back out there and running today. Yeah, I seem to think of running as the best fatburner for me, too...but I am trying to open up and consider some new alternatives.

RE: It's Official!!!

Good Afternoon Everyone.

I'm here sipping my pre-work out java. Aaaahhhh!:9

Cathy: Oh you bad girl you!}( A friend of DH's recently went on vacation to Amsterdam with his buddies for a week. He had a *GOOD* time, if you know what I mean! ;) ;) LOL The shirts look AWESOME by the way! Hey, I haven't mailed out the check yet...I'm sorry...did we get a definate cost and I'm just clueless? Please let me know and I'll mail the check tmrw!:)

Laurie: Sorry you are having weight gain troubles these days. Pull in the reigns on the eating and you'll be fine. Have you ever tried zig-zagging or calorie staggering? If you can put up with keeping track, it's a great way to lose weight! I lost the last 15-18 pounds of pregancy weight that way after struggling with it and getting no where prior. I kept track of my cals, fat, protein and carbs on fitday. That really helped alot!

Judy: If you want good back work, invest in a pull up bar!!! WOW!}(

Kristi: Have fun with the pyramids today. I hope your son gets his snow soon! :) Congrats on the entry into the HM! That's awesome! I want to run one in the fall so I'll probably be signing up for mine over the summer some time!

Christine: You won't regret a pull up bar if you get one! I used the bands and there is a HUGE difference IMO...unless I wasn't using a heavy enough band but still...even WITH assistance I am probably pulling more weight on pull ups then with any band! Have fun at the gym. I am taking spin again tmrw morning. One of my coworkers is supposed to take it with me.

Barb: Nice work out today. Hope you can fit the rest in later. I tried to do CF once and that was it! I didn't know the choreo well enough yet.

Carole: You aren't opting for Double Upper Body today?? }( Good luck losing the extra pounds. How much do you want to lose??

Jess: WOW, that HM you entered is enormous! That must be such a rush to run with all of those people!

Susan: I'm glad your eating is under control and your weight is at a point that you are comfortable with. Isn't it amazing how only a few pounds can make a HUGE difference in how we feel? :)

Shelley: Me and Cathy having been saying we'd run a race together for a while now but we are quite aways apart and it has proven hard to find a race that is a reasonable distance from both of us. I would love to meet you as well. We'll have to see what we can work out. Would a small GTG with the 3 of even w/o a race be possible? Cathy and I talked about that as well!

Colleen: Running is an excellent fat burner. I trimmed down a bit rather quickly once I took up running. It's an amazing form of cardio!

Okay...I've got to get a move on! It's after 2 already! I've got to leave here in about 3 hours to meet a friend for dinner and I still need to do my work out and whatever else needs doing around here.

BBL!:)

RE: It's Official!!!

wendy- yes, i have thanked and re-thanked and re-thanked...my dh lol. let me know how you like the yoga dvd you just bought. i am not a yoga person but want and need to find a yoga dvd i will enjoy.

cathy- the shirts look awesome!!!! i am putting your check in the mail tomorrow morning. be on the lookout. what kind of weighted gloves did you get?

kristi- WTG!!! you are such an inspiration. i just know you are gonna do a great job and at the same time having fun.

shelly- officially i will have one fulltime (ds) and one part time job...lol

christine- i didn't get a chance to catch what you thought of the itrain bootcamp...i am itching for it but want to hear your thoughts before i take the plunge.

judy- still undecided as i haven't worked out yet....????

barb- the freedom and the flexibilty is definitely an awesome perk. have a great day!

carole- more time for working out and more time for posts. wooohoo got to post twice day, lol:D

RE: It's Official!!!

Wendy ~ Yeahhhh. I do know about Amsterdam. }( :7 Thanks re: the shirts. They are $20. A GTG w/ you & Shelly race or no would be awesome. I'm sure we can work something out.

RE: It's Official!!!

Hey Ladies, I ended up doing most of KickMax today for my cardio, I'm learning to like this workout, I did the 1st 3 combos and 6 of the blasts. I like having the rebounder to do some of the blasts on, my joints don't like ALL of that pounding! Thanks everyone for your support and kind words, we ARE in this together!!!:)

Judy, sounds like your putting your TM to good use and we have another CardioCoach fan!

Kristi, congrats on signing up for your HM, training for mine pretty much defined my year, an awesome undertaking!!!! Good for you!!!

Christine, jeans never lie but like me they age so when I shed these unwanted pounds I'll reward myself with some new jeans:) Sounds like Tony's pushing you 'real good'!!

Barb, you're right, it is 'blah' time everywhere, at least the sun is shining here today and my eating has been good so far:)

Carole, it is going to be slow coming off, I'm glad I know that. I haven't needed to lose these many pounds in more than a few years and remember how intoxicating it gets when they do start to come off.:)

Jess, good job with the painting, it can be tedious but you can really get into it too! Take care of your knee:)

Susan, hope you all get feeling better, I usually push through my colds too. That's exciting that you get to meet yet another Cheetah!! I'm excited for you both!

Shelly, I like Amy's Hi/Lo extreme too, I'm getting more comfortable with her choreography but those football weaves put my brain and feet into knots:p I did the All Pump upper body premix and liked her mix of new and old exercises. Fun to mix it up!

Cathy, I'm jealous, weighted boxing gloves would have been perfect for my KM combos this morning:)

Colleen, I think one of those lights would be a great investment! The days are getting longer now though, so that's a GOOD thing!

Wendy, I've never heard of either of those methods. For now I'm going to stop eating while I'm cooking and wait until I sit for my meal and stop eating after dinner. Those two things should help (she said hopefully;) ) I'll be sure to ask you more about tracking if the darned scale gets stuck for too long :)

Okay I'm back to work now, later Cheetahs!

Take Care
Laurie

RE: It's Official!!!

Laurie - I second Wendy's suggestion with zigzagging calories. It is tedious counting everything, but it was worth it for me. Three months after I gave birth to DD I started zigzagging my calories and lost 35 pounds. Yesterday I started back up again. I slacked from the end of October until the beginning of January so I have about 15 pounds to lose. Fitday is awesome. I bought it and keep it on my computer at work, since I am always here. The website is free though.

Cathy - I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling well. It sounds like today was a productive day with grading. BTW - The shirts are awesome! I'm looking forward to receiving them.

RE: It's Official!!!

Ok, now I'm curious about this zig-zagging. It it similar to carb cycling?? Like higher carb one day, middle carb, and then lower carb?? Or just calories?? More info please if you get a chance!!
I used to log my calories at myfooddiary.com but I get WAY too OCD about it. I use sparkpeople for some things, but don't log my cals. I do keep track of what I've eaten though just by writing it down & make sure I'm getting enough veggies & fruits, calcium, fiber, etc.

Do we all want some sort of challenge for the weight loss/ eating healthy thing???? That might make it fun!! You wouldn't have to say your weight or anything, but just make a goal say to lose 5 lbs by a certain date or something???

Whew!! Painting is DONE. It looks AWESOME. I'll of course post pics when I'm all done. We still have to put the border up, but I'll wait a bit to tackle that project. I got all of the tape removed (all of that work taping just to take it down again!), moved her bed and furniture back around, and have it all ready for when she gets home from school. She's going to be soooo excited.

Well, I did it!! I did Baron's Yoga for Athletes. Christine, I really like this one. It has 3 workouts on this DVD- Soul Strength, Yoga for athletes, and core yoga. I like the yoga for athletes the best & was so proud of myself for doing crow pose on the first try! ;-) It really feels like I get a good stretch in my hips (which I need!) I decided to skip biceps today, just *listening to my body*. :)

OK, off to shower finally!! Church tonight so I'd better get myself looking & smelling decent! ;-)

RE: It's Official!!!

Cathy ~ I totally admire teachers!! You have such a huge workload of papers to grade, good luck with that!! I've been so happy w/ my dd's teachers so far, I hope that continues as they get older! Are you feeling any better this afternoon?? I've been fighting off the stupid sinus thing for a good month now. I know I should go see the Dr. but I hate to go again. I'm sure you're exposed to lots of germs at school!! I send my dd's a little bottle of antibacterial hand wash to keep in their bags. I'm so sick of sickness!!

Anyway, hope you're feeling better by now!! Did you catch a nap?
