::: CHEETAHLAND ::: Merry Monday!

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Good morning, everyone! :)

I'm happy it's Monday. No, that's not a typo. I'm glad to get back into the classroom.

GloriaWell, unfortunately, it seems some developers are intent on leaving no green patch behind (ha ha). I think the worst is the tendency to put a Walgreen's, Rite Aid, and an Eckerd on every corner. One invariably goes out of business and the building stays abandoned...One thing I am doing this year is quick formative assessments on index cards. So much quicker to review and grade...Eclectic mix of downloads there. (I have a wide range of tastes in music, too.)

A new rotation should start today, but I didn't bother to write one up; for the next two weeks, I'm basically going to do the same thing I've been doing, but with shorter long runs. So this evening will be a circuit.

Have a great day, everyone! :)

Good morning ladies!

Sorry for the fly by this morning....I will be back tonight with personals (and hopefully an afternoon workout to report;)) this evening.

I have to say that the wake last night was lovely. A perfect tribute to a wonderful person. There were photos everywhere, both of MK and those she took herself, which are gorgeous, BTW...she was a wonderful photographer. In fact, about 2 years ago, she gave me the most beautiful framed black and white that she had taken that is in my dining room now...can't help but smile everytime I walk past it. After the wake and brief service, some of her family and closest friends still left (and there were *quite* a bunch of us) headed over to this little Mexican joint that she always loved and we drank and laughed and indulged in way too many little quesadillas (desperately needed:eek:...I don't hold my liquor that well and two margaritas did me in quite well, thank you:eek:). It was the perfect way to toast an amazing woman...the way she would have wanted it.

So, again, thanks to all for all your prayers over the past few months. I'm not sure how I would have done through this incredibly surreal situation without you. Love ya, ladies! Have a wonderful Monday!

Hey Girls.

Never got back here y'day. I was sooo messed up y'day. I laid down to take a nap in the afternoon. I slept for 90 minutes and instead of just feeling tired the way I did when I laid down, I then felt drugged for a while. UGH, it was awful. We went to MIL's for dinner as planned and I was ready to fall asleep again by the time dinner was done. I think I crawled into bed before 9pm and slept ALLLLL night. Hopefully I will feel normal today. So far, so good so we'll see.

No work out to report. Taking that nap ran me out of time. Oh well. Perhaps it was for the better considering how shot out I felt.

My plan for today is-I think, not positive yet-a run and the X's Legs and Back. I never finished up the last few work outs from CTX but I'm not gonna worry about that. :p

Linda: Aww man, I'd have eaten at the party AND gone out to dinner! I guess that's why I have to be so careful when it comes to eating. I am VERY capable of eating WAAAAY too much!:p Um no. Will NEVER attempt to give up the caffeine TOTALLY. One cup is nothing. I'm not gonna go through the headaches and misery to get off of ONE cup of caffeine. Sooooo not worth it. Heck, I drank 2 cups of caffeinated coffee a day when I was pregnant so I'd say I'm doin' pretty darned good right now!;)

Carole: LMBO at you making mistakes and drinking them. I made a couple of mistakes the other night. Unfortunately I was not allowed to drink them. I would have been more then happy too, you know. ;) Nice long run y'day. Great speed for such a long distance.

Gloria: We occassionally bring our golden retriever out to play with others' dogs. DH's cousin has a husky and the 2 dogs love to play together. They recently got a yorkie as well. Too funny to watch the yorkie jump right in like he's one of the BIG guys! Too cute!:) Edie Brickell, I know her but I can't remember the name of the band she was in. I had it on cassette and LOVED it. Do you know what band she was in??? I assume she's a solo artist these days?

Cathy: I wish I was motivated enough to consider going back to college. So far I am not and after taking the PT exam and then deciding I don't want to work in the field after all (atleast not right now), DH would likely having HUGE doubts about sending me back to school and I can't say I blame him. Too bad the PT cert isn't similar to a BS degree from a college. If I got a degree in a field I decided not to work in, it would still help me. The PT cert is useless unless I become a PT. Glad the massage was so incredible. Money well spent right? ;)

Christine: Great job on the race! Glad you enjoyed yourself. Sounded wonderful! :) I admit I take advantage of "free" booze but I am waaay beyond drinking to the point of being plastered. I have discovered my limits over these last few years and know when to stop so that I am havin' fun but will NOT suffer any hang over symptoms the next day. ;)

Karen: Glad you had fun at Hershey! Can't believe you worked out before you left but hey, can't say that I wouldn't do that too! ;)

Wendi: The services for your friend sound like they were wonderful. Glad you enjoyed the Mexican outing. I *heart* quesadillas too. :)

Okay, I think that catches me up but it took me FOREVER to get this done...lotsa' interruptions....soooo if anyone has posted since I started this and you are not included in the personals I will catch up with you later in the day, I promise! :)

BBL!

Hello there ladies!

Karen – Oh, I like the old roller coasters. We have one like the Comet here call the Grizzly. I don’t like the coasters where I feel as if I were stuck in a washing machine on the spin cycle when I’m done. I do like the loops and such, though. :p How fun you got to hang out with your 6 yo!

Cathy – I’m glad you liked the report! The cream cheese and peaches were actually pretty good. They did taste very European. :p Well, at least one of us is looking forward to Monday! I’m thinking I could sleep a few more hours very happily! :pAround here, it’s not so much the Walgreen’s and Rite Aides, but houses. They are still building, and if it’s in our school district, people are buying. Amazing to me, actually.

Gloria – looking forward to seeing the new pics! Nice mix of downloads! Sounds like you’ll have some great tunes!

Wendi – What an amazing wake you went to yesterday. Sounds like MK would be smiling, too. I do hold my liquor pretty well and two margaritas usually do me in, too! They tend to be strong. {{{Hugs}}}

Wendy – I took a nap, too, and woke up very groggy and out of it. DD15 was laughing at me trying to talk. Man! ITA on the free booze and knowing your limits. :p

Oooh, I’m feeling that ride yesterday! Ouch! I think I’m going to do an upper body workout and some abs today. I think giving the legs a rest is a good idea. :p I ended up taking DD15 out for Sushi last night. We went to the restaurant where DH and I met. That was kind of cool. DD15 likes the boats, and this restaurant has a bunch of great sushi on the boats. Ate too much, but considering the calories I burned yesterday, I’m not worried. :p Back to the grind! Have a great Monday all!

Good morning cheetahs

Cathy...Great timing for that massage!! I bet it did you a great deal of good after the long run. You are welcome for the blog comment...:)...you have worked hard. That sounds like an interesting book and I do agree about the time thing. I feel you should never have a time goal on your 1st mary except to finish as it puts way too much pressure on you. I have definitely run a few marathons just for the enjoyment and not caring one bit about the time. In fact Napa might just be like that. After Chicago, you might just find this marathon stuff fun and look forward to another!! Thanks for the BQ link. I would really have to do some serious speed work to get to a 9:21 pace. I like gradual inclines over steep hills in distance running. Enjoy your circuit later..

Wendi...sounds like a beautiful wake and tribute to MK. How nice you have one of her photo's for a memory of her amazing work. 2 margarita's might put me under the table! Glad you had a nice time.

Wendy...sounds like you needed some rest yesterday! Thanks re: my run, it was a day when everything clicked...:)

Christine...I loved your ride report! That is some tough riding. Those peach and cream cheese sandwiches do sound yummy. Smiling at the description of looking like heaven as you had to pedal up the nasty hill! And a well deserved feast at the end! I was blown away by the Dolphin/Pat game myself. Seems those upsets happen every week. Makes you realize how important the QB's position really is to the team. The Napa marathon is March 1, 2009. I did try and get my sister interested, but not sure it worked...:)...My flight leaves at 10:19 Monday morning from Chicago. Not sure that would give me enough time for a run although I would love to. Sounds like a nice sushi dinner last night. Enjoy your upper body and ab work today.

Linda...LOL, I am not even close to fast on short runs myself!! At this point I find gradual hills easier than steep. But I know there are times I liked the steep hills (maybe when I ran faster). Yesterday I know I avoided any steep hills and only tried to run the gradual ones.

Gloria...so was the soup a bit spicy?...:)...It does a make a lot and also freezes well. This was my 1st attempt at pizza as I always bought the crust instead of making it. Good job with 3 miles yesterday. Sounds like a fun evening with the dogs playing at your BF's.

Today is 4DS sho's, bi's, tri's, abs and a 5 mile run. I think our fall weather is finally here.

Have a great day...:D

Good Monday morning!

Christine – Oh wow! The ride sounds wonderful! I’ll bet you felt so accomplished when you were done! And it would be so nice to have the drop in temperature to look forward to! I would love to ride! Maybe one of these days I will start! :) Oooo! The peaches and cream cheese sandwiches sound good!

Cathy – LOL….that is okay! I do things like that all the time and don’t even have an excuse ;) No problem-o! Patty wants us to go the distance before the actual marathon. I would rather do 23-24. She also does “not” want to taper. I may go the distance…not sure yet….but I definitely think I need to taper for a couple of weeks! She may be on her own on that regard! I think that is pushing it entirely too much…especially with this being our first. Like I said…she has got to be the Energizer Bunny is disguise!

Gloria – The Great Lakes would be wonderful, too! I would love to visit there. I know what you mean about the business in Montana. IT is great that you get to fulfill your teaching passion and be able to do the work that you like to do! We won’t be moving there until we retire. But I would love to go NOW!! I can’t wait to see pics of little Pip! She sounds so adorable!

Karen – I am so glad that you had a great day and got some rest, for a change! I am glad the icy hot patches helped some, but hope it heals 100% soon! Is your mom doing okay?

Wendi – I am glad the service was so nice. It is good that you have that photograph on your wall that she gave you. It will be nice to have it there to see everyday and be able to keep her memory close. It is good that you guys went to the Mexican restaurant and let it loose for a little while! I am sure you needed it. ((hugs))

Wendy – LOL….I “definitely” could have eaten both places :) But, there was so much going on with the little kiddie-poos that it was kind of easy to stay away from the food! ;) It looked yummy, though! Okay….it won’t be too hard, then, to cut down and stay at one cup of “caffeine”. I hate to fall asleep for a nap and then wake up feeling drugged. When that happens to me, I usually am kind of shaky. Not a good feeling!!

This morning was 4DS Legs/shoulders and core and a 5 mile run.

Hey to everyone!!!

Linda

Carole - Great job on your workout! LOL.....we kind of did the same thing :) I like "gradual" hills if the aren't real loooong "gradual: hills ;) Great that the fall weather is there! It is supposed to be pretty warm here during the day (80-85) and in the 50's at night. So that is doable for me :) At least is better than the heat and humidity that we were having!! Hope you mom is okay today!

Good morning Cheetahs!

Cathy - Yes, I did read your statement twice about you being glad to be back in the classroom.:D That's great! Hope the day goes well. Have a good workout.

Wendi - Glad MK wake was nice and you and friends could celebrate such a wonderful person.

Wendy - All those missed naps caught up with you, huh? Hope your day is better today.

Christine - I'll have to go back and catch up on your ride from yesterday. Bet your legs will be happy for some rest. Sounds like you and DD have been enjoying your time alone together.

Carole - I like the advice you gave Cathy about the marathon time. Enjoy your 4DS UB work and your run. Having some nice weather here too.

Linda - Good job with 4DS Legs & Core and your 5 mile run.

Saturday's workout was a 3.1 mile run. Then came back and walked another 3.4 miles with DBF. Yesterday was a rest day. Today was iTread #26 30 minutes. Used it as a tempo run and went for 35 minutes. Also did weight sections from Jiggle Free Arms.

Friday night DBF and I went to a play at a local playhouse. The play was ok but had to use too much of my imagination. Didn't like that part. Saturday, we went to IMAX and watched Sea Creatures and Roving Mars. Enjoyed that bit of history. Then we went to dinner and another movie. Saw Righteous Kill. Enjoyed that one too.

Enjoy your day ladies!

Ugh ladies. Can you believe I'm STILL off kilter from saturday night!? This stinks! I had no desire to work out after work so I blew it off. I won't have time after I pick Joey up from school either because we have to go to a stupid meeting at my job at 4pm.

My plan now is to run on the TM after the meeting and POSSIBLY take a 5:30 pilates class if DS can handle being there for that long. The meeting is going to rob him of his afternoon nap so it depends on how moody he is because of that....:(

My eating has not been the best the last few days. I don't feel I've over-eaten. In fact, my appetite seems to have decreased but my choices have been less then stellar....lots of cookies... I haven't even been tracking my food the last few days...No desire to do so.

What the heckis wrong with me!?!?

Perhaps I just need a break from the madness of it all....and ya know what? For once in the last 5-6 years, I am actually OKAY with that and willing to take it.

WOW. I can't believe I just said that. I think I may need my head examined! LOL

BB later on to catch up with personals, etc.

Happy first day of Autumn, btw!

Finally getting around to posting. Long day of running off dittos for the kids on the equinox today. I still haven't caught up from this weekend. I had loads of lesson to print out for the next few weeks and then totally screwed eveything up when I didn't factor in the dentist tomorrow. Oh well. Anyway today was an easy 3 miles and PUB premix.

Cathy- Shorter runs are in order. I would just wing it too with what I was doing instead of writing out something new for the next two weeks. You are doing great with all your runs. You by far will do fantastic for your marathon.

Wendi- Gald to hear everthing went well the other night and you were able to toast her the way you wanted to.

Christine- Dinner with dd sounds wonderful. Totally a sushi girl here. My dh is Japanese and his mom makes the best sushi ever.

Carole- Great job on the workouts. We finally got into a fall pattern of weather here as well. How is your mom doing?

Linda- Mom is still the same with the pain from the stones. She passes a few tiny more but she still hurts. She goes back on the 8th. They wait that long for you to pass before they will do surgery. She has no fever or signs of infection so they said wait it out. Horrible isn't it? Dh is getting me some more patches for my leg as we speak on his way home. They are saving my life at this point.

Jackie-Sounds like you and you dbf had a great weekend. dh wants to see Rigtheous Kill.

Wendy- Been there girls. We all just get flat out tired of working so damn hard on oursleves. It happens to the best of us. Ride it out and take it easy some . In no time you will be back to it and with a better outlook on it. I get like that too. All I want to do is just not be so conscience of all that I do and ease up and enjoy life. I think last year at one point I did two months of yoga. Then I got the bug to run again and eat great. It just is a cycle. Enjoy it. Appreciate dh, your son and life. Forget about what you did and what you ate.

Now I'm off to get ready for soccer. Hi to all that follow.

Linda...I am not a fan of really long gradual at least a mile uphills, but shorter ones are okay! Our temps have been good too, about 88 today and thankfully the wind has stopped. Glad your humidity has gone. Yes, we did do a similar workout today...:)...Mom is doing okay today, she kinda got a bug and her stomach was upset yesterday.

Jackie...thanks re: my marathon advice..:)...4DS was fun today! You have gotten in some good workouts. Jiggle Free Arms sounds fun. I am not much on plays but I would like to see that movie you mentioned.

Wendy...sorry you are still off kilter. Some days can just be like that. Forget about it, and just do what you want!!

Karen...good job with 3 miles and PUB. Nice to see most of us are having good weather. Mom is better today as she had a bit of a bug over the weekend.

I had a good workout and a windy run! But the legs were not too sore from yesterdays run. I will add another running day starting in Oct, so probably next week. Gotta try and get this body ready for a marathon!!

Thanks for the kind words girls. :)

I ended up doing a 3.5 mile hilly run at the gym after my meeting. It felt good and made me feel better mentally as well.

I've decided to finish up the last of my CTX rotation this week (still have shoulders/biceps/legs to go) plus take a Bootcamp class at the gym on wednesday. That along with my running will round out my week nicely and then hopefully I'll be more enthused about the X come next Monday. This is what I am HOPING for anyway. LOL

BBL for personals. Gotta feed the little guy now!

Hello! :)

Cathy: Hope your circuit was a good one today. My music tastes are varied, as you can tell. We have had a Rite Aid in our town for a long time and this summer Walgreen's opened up right across the street. That put a local mom and pop pharmacy out of business. We have one more local pharmacy left. We have a lot of empty businesses in our town too. It is depressing. I accomplished my paper grading mission last night. Good idea with the formative assessments!

Wendi: You don't need to apologize for the fly by. It is just good to hear from you! It sounds like you celebrated a very dear life. Ok, now I have the goosebumps! :)

Wendy: Don't quote me on this, but I think the band is Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians. I will have to look it up. I downloaded an old song that I listened to in high school. You know a lot of people are going to school online now. Just wanted to throw that out there for something to think about. With your dedication, a missed workout is no big deal. :)

Christine: I was not ready to be back to the grind this morning, but Monday is over thankgoodness! :) I have tried sushi in college and have been wanting to try it again. Glad you and DD had a nice time. Maybe this weekend I can get on and post some pics. Pip is getting big. What did you decide for upper body?

Carole: THANK YOU for the recipe! DH and I both loved it! Not too spicy either. So when are you signing up for Napa? :) Enjoy your fall day!

Linda: The Great Lakes are beautiful. I love my job even though I complain sometimes. Where do you think you will retire in MT? I will try and post pics this weekend. Nice workout today. :)

Jackie: Sounds like a nice active weekend for you. I had to read Cathy's statement about being happy to go back to school twice too! LOL! :)

Karen: Great workout today!

Ran three miles again this morning. Just didn't have a lot of gas, as I had to stay up until 10 to get everything ready for school since I played around a little too much yesterday. Will get in bed early tonight. I have a 7:30 meeting and an IEP tomorrow. I am also tutoring after school. It'll be a long one.

Have a wonderful evening Cheetahs! :)

Gloria- Sounds like you have a long day tomorrow. As for the equinox, today is the first day of fall and on that day as in the spring we have two equinox's which happen when the sun crosses the celestial equator.. Fall is the Autumnal Equinox ( meaning that there is equal day and night today ) from this point on you go into the Winter Solstice which means each day gets shorter. When you reach the Winter Solstice ( which is the first day of winter ) that day is the shortest day of the year. Then in Sping you have the Vernal Equinox when the day and night is equal again. At that point the days get longer. Then you go into the Summer solstice and on the first day of summer you will have the longest day of the year. Then the cycle repeats itself. Kind of neat. The girls wanted to know why today in particular was the first day of fall and that is the reason why for the nothern hemisphere. Your also suppose to do somthing to welcome fall on today. We made homemade scarecrows and cleaned the yard for the upcoming fall.

I'm back for personals!:)

Gloria: Thanks for the group name. :) I know I'm just in a temporary funk and I'll be back to my old self in no time. I can only go for so before the guilt sets in. LOL Ya know, I think going back to school on line would be very hard for me. As convenient as it would make it, that would take A TON of discipline. More so then going to a physical class. That's my thought anyway. Three miles is plenty when one is tired from a late night of work prior. You did good, girl! :)

Carole: It's so exciting to hear you talking about marathon training!!! I'm all pumped up for you. Run girl run! :D Thanks re my funk. I know I'll get out of it soon enough which is why I didn't force myself to start the X today. I hope to start it next Monday now.

Karen: Wow you were a busy woman today. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to home school as well as take care of a house, a family and YOU! I give you credit...and a TON of it at that!!!

My mom is on the phone...I'll be back when I hang up!

Karen: Oh my... I misread your post. I know what an equinox is. I thought you were printing something off for the kids and school on a machine called that! Thanks for the explanation though! :)

Wendy: I know I could not do the online school either. I am too off task at home. I would rather communicate in class as well. Thanks re: the run! :)

Good evening Cheetahs!

Christine - Went back and read your race report. Great job! Love your description of everything. Bet that cream cheese and peach sandwich was yummy.

Wendy - Sorry you're still feeling off. Sometimes we need a break from the routine and just go with the flow. Glad you're ok with how you feel. Good job on getting the 3.5 mile run in.

Karen - Good job on the 3 miles and PUB PM! Sorry to hear your mom is still in pain. A good lesson on the equinox. Sounds like a fun day with the scarecrow.

Carole - Glad your mom is better too. Sounds like you're making a good start on that marathon. So happy for you. Excited I know!

Gloria - Wal-Mart hurt a lot of our small businesses. Now, we have a Wal-Greens. Will see what effect it has. Seems like most of the other pharmacies are connected to a dr. office. So you see the dr. and walk around the corner and have your presription filled. Good job on the 3 miles. Long day for you. Hope it's not too tiring.

Cathy - Did you have a good Monday? :D

Need to get ready to watch the new season of DWTS. Can't wait to see how Cloris Leachman does.

Have a good night!

Gloria- It was worth the explaination. Your misread was hilarious. I do that all the time.

Carole- I hope you do train for another full. I have the itch to do my first. The time it takes to train scares me but I really want to do it.

Jackie- I have to watch the Big Bang Theroy and then CSI. I will miss DWTS. My mom fills me in though.

Wendy- Thanks Wendy for the encouragement. Sometimes I feel overloaded with STUFF. I know I couldn't be any other way though. I was looking the other night at a marathon in March in Cape May. I did the 10 miler there 2 years ago and think I may go ahead and do that one ( she says with fingers crossed) Now with you doing an 18 miler and all the other girls doing fulls it makes me think maybe I could do it. i know I could I just don't know about TIME.

Jackie - It sounds like a great weekend with DBF! Great job on your run and walk on Saturday, as well as your run and JFA! What is DWTS?

Karen - It is good that she shows no signs of infection, etc due to the stones. Hopefully, she will pass them. I will have to remember those patches when I have pulled/sore muscles!

Wendy - I am sorry you are having an overwhelming tired feeling! There have been so many times lately that I felt the same way! Especially with the marathon training! Sometimes I really just want to quit it L It seems there are so many people pulling me different direction, and then there is always my job. (ugh!) You have had a lot on your plate lately! And then training for your 18 mile race! Then Joey starting school…and a lot of other stuff! Maybe if you just take a day or two or three off, you will feel rejuvenated.

Carole - Glad your mom is doing better, except for her tummy! I am sure you will be ready for a marathon in record time! Especially with all the ones that you have already done! I agree with Wendy - It is really exciting to hear you talk about training for a marathon!

Gloria - I am not sure where we will retire. DH talked about Missoula…I want colder, snowier. When we were in Missoula this in August, it was 100 degrees! Yuck! I want cooler summertimes and snowy winters! J Some people would say I am nuts! But, we will see….. ;) Is the puppy on your avatar Pip? Whether it is, or not…it is adorable! Good job on your run!

Good night everyone!

Personals Part Deux:

Okay, I'm back...AGAIN!:p

Jackie: Sounds like you and DBF had a fun weekend together. The run definately made me feel better. After finishing the run, I was actually considered doing Leaner Legs once DS was in bed tonight. He just went up and um well....I'm thinkin' it probably won't happen but I'm givin' myself lots of credit for just CONSIDERING it!;)

Christine: So you and DD15 spent a nice night together? That's great that she still thinks it's cool to hang out with mom at her age. I know I never really went through a phase where I was EMBARRASSED to hang around my mom so that was good. I didn't always wanna go where she was taking me but it had nothing to do with her. When I got older she became my friend and we'd go out to bars, etc together. Still do but now it's graduated from a bar/dancing to weekends in A/C!:D

Linda: Love 4DS! Hope you are enjoying it! Yeah, that drugged feeling is the worst. I was a zombie all day after that. I probably would have been better off NOT napping at all at that point. This is why I always sing the praises of the cat naps that I normally take. ;)

K, now I think I'm ALL caught up. Have a great night and I'll be back in the morning!:)
