Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Okay, I'm ready to do personals....I have a lot to catch up on. You gals were chattier then ever yesterday! LOL }(

Laurie: If you had shovelmax to do y'day I would NOT worry about missing a Cathe work out. Shoveling can certainly be a work out in itself! Hope the date you are going on with the small biz owner goes well! Keep us posted!:+

Cathy: KPC + BG both in full and back to back! HOLY COW! Are you actually walking today??? LOL I'm very excited to receive my shirt! I'll let you know when it comes! YEAY!:+

Carole: I have had to use every ounce of restraint to NOT add too much cardio to the X! LOL I just don't want to because I want to see what happens when I DON'T do cardio a bazillion times per week! I was always afraid to try it but when I decided to do the X I vowed I would give it a shot. So far, so good! Now I almost don't want to do more then 3 days of cardio anymore. How do I train for a half though if I want to cut back my cardio??? ACK! I know I could probably conquer half training on 3 days of running but I also have the class at the gym to contend with...I guess I could take the weight or yoga class if I had to. Hmmmm...I think I will have a few decisions to make once the X is done!

Judy: I'm not much taller then you girl! I'm 5'3" or so! :+

Gayle: GOOD LUCK TODAY!!!!! Pizza and beer at 10am? AWESOME!!!!:9 }( :9 LOL Glad to hear that your mom seems to be doing as well as can be expected. I hope the positive trend continues.

Sunny: Thanks for the kudos re the X results. I'm very happy. Nope, not following the eating plan. I am just eating the way I have been eating for a couple of years now. My diet is relatively clean MOST of the time. I am not perfect but I try and I guess it works!:+

Shelly: So did you try the 2 miler y'day? How did it go? I got through my class fine y'day. I intended to keep it less intense since I wasn't feeling great but once I got there and the class started I couldn't help but get into it! LOL :)

Elaine: My entire household has a cold! Theraflu is good stuff. DH and I use it. I hope you feel better soon! I am LOVING the X! The cardio I am doing is 2 days of running (one short, one long) and a class at the gym (step, kickbox or spin)for the most part. I have done Kenpo a couple of times as well as Plyo but keeping up with my running and getting the free memebership at the gym are more important to me then following the cardio to a T!:p I am actually only doing 30 mins more of cardio each week then the X "prescribes" but it IS more intense overall. I am getting good results too! :) The leg work IS sparse so I am going to be adding an endurance leg work out on Tuesdays during Phase 2 and will see what it does for me.

Jess: I don't even watch the game (Superbowl) so you are a bigger fan then I! LOL DH is going to a party. I would rather stick needles in my eyes then go with him :7 so I will hang back with DS instead. :)

Laura: Thanks for the kudos on the X! Have a great day! :)

Christine: Oh I know the woas of having a stick shift. I drove 'em for years. I got my current car a couple of years ago-it's an automatic-but drove primarily stick shifts before that! My first and second cars were automatics but after that it was sticks for quite some time. They can be a pain! LOL

Colleen: How did the sleepover B'day party for your DS?

Barb: Your water bottle froze on your run!?!? YIKES! I'd say that is NOT warm enough for me to get out there! LOL Glad you got it done though! I hope you enjoy your day despite the meetings you have to attend!

Hello to anyone I may have missed!:)

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

sunny- are they tough? I really want a kick butt workout!

wendy- I am only 5 2 1/2

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Happy Superbowl Sunday to the Cheetahs!:7 We're having an unusually chatty weekend:D

Wendy- I found myself with spare time yesterday afternoon and actually did most of yogaX!! I'm quite proud of myself. Yoga is difficult for me to get through, I like to MOVE... not hold a pose!
Since stretching is such an important component of yoga I don't see why you can't do that instead today. Hey, I'd be willing to bet that you're the only one who thinks your pics look awful ;-) Congrats on your results!

Laura- If you're looking for a fun new kickboxing w/o I recently received Kelley Coffey-Meyers new "Step-Boxing". It's a lot of fun and a great workout IMO. Re: the Eat to Live lifestyle (I don't like to call it a diet) Yes, it is vegetarian but don't let that hang you up. I'm not vegetarian but just following the basic principes really did the job for me anyway. I eat very little meat anyway and it's not difficult at all to get adequate protien on a vegetarian diet as many of the cheetahs here can attest to.

Laurie- The date with your soccer guy does sound promising! I'd be willing to bet he's pretty jazzed up about meeting a gal who has fitness as a priority:) Have a great time with shovelmax today}(

Carole- I guess that new mattress did wonders for you since you're up for a 10 mile trail run and a leg workout:eek:

Judy- Yoga for 3 straight days! I am impressed. I'm proud of myself for getting in one session a week! I really should try and do better.

Marcia- I'm glad your conference went well. Sounds like you had a great time. Please do post your website address when it's ready. I'd really like to see it.

Karen- 8 miles today for your long run? Racking up some serious mileage there cheetahgal! Keep up the good work.

SunnyD- I havent done PlyoX for a while, it really is a unique workout isn't it? Hope you're having a relatively relaxing weekend, You work so hard!

Cathy- You sure are one helluva good friend to have!!! I don't know how you fit everytning into your schedule. Hope you have some strength left for painting after ME}(

Barb- I think you get an extraspecial Cheetah award for going 8 miles in -3 degree weather:eek:

Susan- I agree, this is definitely not a good weekend to be eating clean! And you have your wonderful new elliptical to erase the effects anyway!

Linda- I'm so glad your leg is better today! My goodness you are posting early! I got a kick out of your story about speedwalking in Aruba!

Today will be the B&G Leg Blast premix. Never tried this one before and am looking forward to it! Then I think I'll take the plunge and go for walk run intervals.
Hi to all who follow!

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Good morning ladies,

GOOD LUCK GAYLE!!!!!!

I am such a bloated cow this morning(LOL)! I ate everything in sight yesterday, so I am going to do an hour on the elliptical and try to undo some of the damage. It was fun though just letting loose yesterday with the food. There really is nothing better than being with friends and enjoying a meal together and then some:)

We are not doing much today. We are not football fans, so we will not have that on. I have to help my oldest with a report due in a week and I think we will have a playdate over here for my youngest. I will throw them out to the trampoline. It will be 60 here today.

Anyway, I will be back later for personals after I feed all the kiddies and myself. I will be much better today with my food than yesterday.

Have a great morning gals!

Susan

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

I just finished turbo jam kickin core workout. It was fun but not alot with the legs, mostly upperbody .

shelly- thanks, I will have to check it out!

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Go Gayle Go!!!! Good to have a Cheetah racing today!

You ladies are too chatty! I cannot possibly hope to keep up with you, so I hope you'll forgive me if I don't say hi to everyone individually! I am feeling better today. Yesterday was interesting as I did Spinervals Hillacious all except for the very last part of the very last challenge. So, I did well. Grabbed a bowl of quinoa for breakfast, took a shower and took a half an hour nap. Then got my nails done, went grocery shopping and got everything put away, and took another 1/2 an hour nap. Then was asleep after dinner by 8 PM on the sofa. I felt okay while I was awake, but needed a lot of naps!

Today, DH and I are going to the gym a bit later than normal, because we decided to go to a local watering hole to watch the Super Bowl, and the gym and the bar are in the same area. I'm going to do a mix/max of Cardio Coach Choose living and CC #5 on the elliptical. Should be fun. Hope I don't need naps, though - that could be embarrassing.

Enjoy your day - and for those Football fans (Not Wendy, I know :+) Go TEAM!!!

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

laura- barry's bootcamp workouts are very intense. they do kick your butt:7

christine- sometimes the body just needs extra rest. glad you got some:) . have fun with CC today!

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

I can't believe all the chatting going on here today, on a Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday! LOL. Read them all too.

Thanks for all the wishes for today's race. I gotta admit, the thought of backing out did cross my mind for a split second this morning. The temp was 4 BELOW ZERO! Without the wind factor, at 7am! By the time the race started at 10:30, it was 4 below WITH the wind chill! LOL. COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDD! Long story short...let's see if I can do that! LOL. HRM wasn't working right, so I just turned it off. That turned out to be a GOOD thing. I didn't feel any pressure at ALL! I bundled up and off I went. Crossed the finish line at an UNofficial time of 54:11! That's over 3 minutes faster than my time for this race LAST year! AND...the conditions were HORRIBLE today. Ice, snow, wind, HILLS OUT THE WAZOO! lol. But, I'm good on hills, and it paid off today. 54:11 for my 10K! YEAH! I'm happy with that!

I drove with my heat blasting in my car the entire way home. Took a steaming hot shower, and now need to go get some quick things done before the kids get back with DFiance. THANKS AGAIN for all the wishes.

Wish I could comment to each of you right now, but as usual, I've got tons to do. Even on a SUNDAY!

Have a great Super Bowl Night! BBL

Gayle

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Just another quick check it which I'm glad to say congrats to Gayle. You did awesome. That's such a great time and three minutes off to boot..

I managed 8.5 on the treadmill again today. Not to bad with keeping my mind going. Off to pick up pizzas. Help. You know I'm going to eat a slice. Right

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Gayle, that's awesome!!!! Shaving 3 minutes off of last years with the conditions as they were today is such a huge accomplishment!!! You must be feeling so good about it!!! The well deserved hot shower must have felt heavenly!!! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Take Care
Laurie:)

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Gayle- That was an incredible performance for you:eek: Congratulations.
That would have been a great time even under ideal conditions. WTG!!
Now relax and have a great SuperbowlSunday!

Christine- Hey there Queen of the Naps! Spinervals Hillacious sounds like my kid of workout! I may have to check it out. Hope you don't fall asleep at the bar tonight :+

I finished B&G leg blast premix....OMG! I don't know why I didn't try this one before, what a burner! I had a successful reintroduction to running today also :) I took it easy with alternating between a jog and an easy run and even stopped a few times for stretches and went an easy 4 miles. Feelin great!
Okay, now it's nap time for me! Gotta work tonight x(

Ciao everyone!

ShellyC

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

THANKS!

Shelly-I LOVE THAT B&G PREMIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's on my schedule this week!

Gayle

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Hello again,
I finished 50 minutes on my elliptical and got my heart rate up to 165, which never happens, even when I run 7 miles an hour,YAY for me(LOL)!

I am off to go to Sweet tomatoes, which is a salad buffet restaurant. My kids love it, but it is not that clean, oops! I will be pretty good though.

I am going to do an hour of yoga tonight with my hubby, probably Eionn Finn.

I tell ya I am really feeling balanced with my workouts lately. I did 3 elliptical workouts and 1 bike workout for cardio and 2 days of butts and gutts leg blast premix and two upper body workouts this week and 2 hour yoga sessions. My body is really reponding well to this less cardio phase.

Anyway, enough chatting for me, I am off to take Mariahs playdate home and then to lunch.

Enjoy the Super bowl ladies!

Susan

I ran 9 miles this morning. It went good except for the last mile, which was excruciatingly difficult. I believe my problem was a case of dehydration since I drank nothing at all for the entire run. DH rode his bike with DD on the tagalong for the first ½ of my run. I thoroughly enjoyed the company. Now I am thinking about how far I have to go to be ready for a June marathon and I’m just not going to put any pressure on myself for this one.

How ‘bout some personals,

Cathy, it was so incredibly nice of you to help your friend! I mean this in all sincerity because the things you described doing are among some of the worst jobs imaginable to me. Even though I can say that there are times when I am quite sure I hate my DH (LOL!) I would never want to be in the position of having to weed through a bunch of responses trying to determine who among them is date worthy. I hope you don’t have to go through many bad ones before you find a good one.

Sunny, PlyoX and a run!!! All I can say is WOW! I do love PlyoX a lot. Do you like it that much?

Karen, Did you post a while ago on the Open Forum that you were considering a marathon? If that was you did you settle on which one it will be?

Judy, What yoga DVD(s) do you use? I really need to work yoga into my routine more but I spend so much time as it is with cardio and weights that it is the first thing to go.

Wendy, The camera is not my friend either. I look horrible in pictures no matter what. Those are some pretty impressive nbrs from just phase one!

Laurie, ShovelMax is a good workout I am sure. It’s been about 30 years since I’ve had to shovel snow but it was difficult enough that I remember how hard it was. You’re not alone in tending to be ditzy. Whenever I meet someone for the first time I am so shy that I invariably say something really stupid or silly. Or at least that’s how it seems to me.

Laura, I have all of the Powerstrike Millenium (1 through 3) and really like them. I have seen discussions on the Open Forum about how to get them so you could do a search if you want. I got lucky and got all 3 of mine off ebay in a really good deal.

Barb, OMG! Your water froze???? I must have missed the part where you explained why you ran outside instead of on your TM. All I can say is WOW!!! The high here today is supposed to be 75 so, as you can see, I cannot even imagine…..

Susan, I don’t remember saying hello to you yesterday!! But that doesn’t mean I wasn’t thinking about you. I made a giant heart shaped frosted sugar cookie yesterday so can relate to your indulgences yesterday. But I gripe about needing to lose 7 lbs!

Shelly, I did B&G leg blast the other day for the first time and absolutely love it! I know I’ll be working this one in at least once a week. Tell me about your walk run intervals. What’s that all about?

Christine, Hi!!!

Gayle, WAY TO GO!!! I cannot even imagine running in the cold like that. You rock!!!

Talk to you all later!

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Some personals

Gayle...WAY TO GO!! Improving your time is awesome. Shows your hard work is paying off.

Cathy...I am following a P90X style rotation, as I add legs and cardio. Nice of you to help your friend yesterday...good luck with the online dating...

Wendy...way to go on your results for the 1st phase of P90X! IMO, you will have to do more cardio, especially running when you train for a half marathon.

Laurie..sounds like a nice date last night...:)...I think Plowman is way cute (if you watch Men in Trees!)..Watching the game will be a blast.

Sunny...glad you found a dumbell set that works for you! How did PlyoX go? The bed did feel heavenly..

Shelly...I agree, that BM2 upper is a fryer! Never did get to kickboxing yesterday. My DH and I are will be watching the SB by ourselfs with the new TV! Any of the iClimb 40 mins one will challenge you. I think I have them all. Have fun with the B&G leg fryer...

Laura...wow...way cold there too! My run was fun but tough. Good job with your turbo jam workout.

Elaine...those onelegged squats always seem to burn out my back leg's quad! But the longer I do them the better they feel and I can go all the way. Sorry about the cold. I use something called Colloidal Silver that I get at a health food store , and whenever I feel something coming on, I take it. So far, so good. if you think you want to do P90X, Cathe and run, I will let you know how I did that...:) it is doable...sorry about the hard last mile today. You might want to carry some water or sports drink with some of the lomger runs.

Christine...hope things are better with DH today. We seem to be getting along which is always nice. Going riding would be fun and I will keep it in mind...:)...no turbo horse for me though...I got to watch some TV yesterday and yes, the picture is awesome. You definitely are the nap queen..:)..enjoy the SB!

Barb...this new Bread machine did replace and old one. I think I wore it out!! I am trying an Italian Herb bread for fun today. Good job running in that kind of cold. It'll just make you a stronger cheetah!

Linda..thanks for the info. I am glad your leg is better today..:)

Karen...hope the 8 miles goes well...Have fun watching the SB!!!

Judy...the run today was just under 10 miles. Tough course. Enjoy your rest day.

Susan..good job with the EXT workout.

Had a nice trail run today. About 9.7 miles and I didn't walk any of the tough hills....jogged slow yes...:)...here is a pic of the lake as we start the run:

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Back for some personals..

Gayle—congratulations!! That is a great time for any temperature, but especially for it being that cold. Awesome job! Really, really cold out there and you did it faster than yoru last race in warmer weather.

Cathy—it was nice of you to help your friend. I’m with Elaine on thinking of having to sort through online dating responses, but I think it makes good sense to do this. It’s a good way to meet people “nowadays.” I have friends here who met through ads in print newspapers or online. Your rotation looks good and hard and thoughtfully planned.

Karen—fantastic job going that far on a treadmill. I am very impressed!!

Marcia—glad your conference was fun. What workouts are you planning for the week?

Carole—hope you’re having a fun football day. Beautiful photo! The new mattress sounds good – as does the bread! I’m always looking at those Temperpedic mattresses, but they are way out of my budget. Thanks for the High-five on the run – I feel like a stronger Cheetah for doing it.

Wendy—great results from your P90x workout. I hate having my picture taken in general. I like both stretching & yoga, but get impatient with both of them. It’s a struggle for me to do them, but always worth it. I join you with the “yikes” about the water bottle. It was a bummer. I removed the lid to drink something, then the inside rim of the lid froze, so I couldn’t put it back together. Really annoying, but lesson learned (that IT shall bring a thermos of hot cocoa next time.)

Laurie—shovel max is a hasslemax! Good for you getting it done. That sounds like a great date. Having enough to talk about for 6 hours says a lot.

Barb
more to come....
:)

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

and.....

Laura—I liked the KCM stepbox workout, too, like Shelly said. It took me a few times to make it the right intensity, but it’s a nice change. You can play around with the step height, the pace and whether to use weighted gloves, etc. It’s short & sweet, so if you want a longer workout, you can tack on something else. The Amy Bento Kickbox Extreme workout is fun too, but the choreography is weird, IMO. I haven’t tried her hi-lo xtreme but there have been some threads about it on the open forum.

Shelly-thanks for the cold run award. I needed to be outside today to clear my head, but then my head froze and overall that was a good thing for my mentalmax. What did you think of the BG Leg Blast? I did that for the first time this week and thought it was hard. How many times can you do walking lunges??? Yikes

Susan—I think it’s so super that you are so balanced with your workouts. If you feel like a bloated cow today, we are all in deep doo-doo…..you look great Cheetah-babe.

Christine—have a good workout with DH and fun watching the game. It sounds like the rest y’day was just what you needed and you are still working out of being sick. Take good care of yourself!!

Sunny—I missed what your workout was today. What are the Barry’s tapes like? Are they circuit style workouts.

Elaine—Sorry about that last mile, but great job running 9 miles! It’s nice your DH and DD could keep you company. From y’day: becoming a paralegal sounds fun, but like a a lot of work. Are you enjoying the reading you’re doing so far? The water freezing is just bizarre. Let’s just say I did the run today, but I didn’t look “good” out there…

Hi to Kristi, Colleen and Judy
Have a great rest of the day. I hope your team wins for the SB..

-Barb

:) :) :)

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

barb- hello, today was plyoX. check out www.barrysbootcamp.com. they are 5 dvd's all together 4 of them are 30 min. strength training and 20-30 mins of a TM workout and a non-TM cardio workout. the 5th is a full body workout using your bodyweight.
do you think the stepbox workout is advanced?

RE: Cheetah Runner Check In Sunday Feb. 4::::::::::::::...

Hi gang:

I just finished PowerHour, good workout. I thought it would be a good idea to start some more serious weight training so when I start on P90X I 'might' not have quite so many DOMS }( ;-) }( :) I'm definitely up for the challenge!!!

This week I have step class Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; so it's weights the rest of the time.

I looked for the book called "The Eat Clean Diet" by Tosca Reno, but couldn't find it. Anyone here read it yet? Is it good? Worth the purchase?

I'll be back soon, i hope everyone is having a great Sunday!
Marcia.
