Anybody get the song reference there? Well, I was just pondering the over 35 body changes. Even after my twins were born and I had a lot of weight to lose, my body responded so well and fairly quickly. That was then -- age 29 -- and now I will be 37 this year and since 35 passed, things have, well, changed. Even as a fitness instructor, I have noticed that it happens, but man it takes a whole lot more work now it seems than it did before. Or I get tired out a little more easily. Maybe that's got something to do with the twins huh??? So I was just sitting here and thought I would throw it out there and get others' opinions on this. I don't quite know how Cathe does her schedule, and that bod, my gosh. But hey I guess genetics helps with that a bit. Keep well all.

I...

...can relate with you! I've seen drastic changes this past year with skin texture, face wrinkles and also a bit of thickening thru the midsection. I am 49, teach Hi/Lo aerobics and light toning 4X/week and I still battle the bulge a bit. I also work out at home on my off days with Cathe and work at an advanced level. Since I found Cathe, it has kicked my metabolism up a notch but I have to continually keep at it. Luckily, I LOVE to workout, so that's not a problem. Are you using Cathe's strength vids? I definitely saw some great results from adding these to my rotations on a weekly basis. Don't know if I have helped you at all, but wanted to let you know you're not alone in having to keep at it to see results. I feel great and very healthy!!:7 BTW~I'm a twin!

RE: I...

I am 44, the first significant "decrepitudes" began at 40, the beginnings of "turkey neck", circles under my eyes, too much grey hair to ignore, spider veins, loss of close-range focus with my vision. I haven't noticed that it's any harder to stay in shape or keep weight off. Maybe that's something to look forward to. NOT! I'll just keep plugging along and see how far I get. It certainly won't help to give up and fill the ranks of dumpy Americans with one more, so I will soldier on.

RE: I...

Are you ready for the ugly truth? When I suck my stomach in, it wrinkles! But all in all I feel great and I have loads of energy. As we age it is true that our metabolism begins to change by about 5% per year but there's good news. Three percent is due to the loss of muscle mass so strength training can halt the march of time in regard to muscles; time is still marching across my face though! And sadly, I have such dry skin that I wrinkle easily. But, on the bright side, my husband is getting that middle age change in his sight! He needs glasses! He keeps telling me I look great and I warn him as soon as he finally goes for his glasses, he may not think so! hehehe! The other good news is that the other 2% is due to reduced activity so stay active. Yes, we look older but youth isn't everything. Now we are wise! I look at twenty year olds and say no thank you! Been there and done that! I live by the adage "you're not getting older, you're getting better". Wasn't that a hair dye tag line? Yes, I need hair dye now. I have a few wrinkles. My oldest is a teen. I'll be forty next year! I can't wait. I have a feeling it could be my best year yet! :)

RE: I...

Dear Bobbi (and everyone else!)
Yes I must say I agree. When I see the twentysomethings going through that twentysomething agnst I think geez I've come a long way and I can safely say that I am happier now than I ever have been. I know myself and most of all, like myself. I no longer fight what I always thought of as my "faults" but see them as what makes me, me. I have a dear husband and of course my beautiful twin boys. And I'm also in the best shape of my life. Thanks to all for the affirmations. You are all a great support group.

I got the reference too. I just had to respond. I am 42 and my husband says I look better now than I ever did - I have never been an exercise instructor - I wish I could, I have never been in competitive sports - I just lift weights and try to get as much areobics as I can - I have noticed changes too - the eye doctor said I will need bifocals in a year - no matter what I do I can't erase that lower ab pooch (it's not that bad but I see it) I found some gray hairs (I highlite now.)

All I can say is that how you age has a lot to do with genetics -As I age I am becoming a mirror image of my mother - and grandmother - but since I workout - I look better than I did when I was in my 20's and didn't work out and I feel better knowing that because I workout and eat the best that I can I am doing my part in keeping healthy and not becoming the old lady in the rocker. I like to look at the aging film stars for inspiration - Sohia Loren, Goldie Hawn, Sharon Stone - granted they were born beautiful and probably spend more time and money on their looks than I do but they are all women over 40 who look fabulous.

When I saw the title in the topics list, I sang it out loud! Anyhoo, Im 38 on friday and could care less. I cant wait to be 40! Any womman I truly admire, respect and think is cool is over 40!! Yeah, my pores on my face are getting bigger, the print is getting smaller, etc, but I feel better than ever and this forum is such an awesome, ageless place. If we take care of ourselves now, age is simply a state of mind. Im even thinking of getting a tattoo for my b-day, on my lower back, my 16 year old son just shakes his head and rolls his eyes!! Judy

I laughed so hard when I read Bobbi's response. It is all part of life - the aging process. It is all in how you respond to it. Some days I think "Hey, I look great for being 46 years old." And then there are days when I can look in the mirror and say "Oh my gosh, I can't believe it, I need to call a plastic surgeon!"

I have worked out since I have been 18 years old. But way back then I only had to work out once or twice a week. Now, I do weight training 4times a week alternate CX Leanerlegs and Power Hour 2 times a week and the other 2 times I do S&H Legs and a Body Bar workout CIA with Shannon and Allison. And I do the treadmill and of course Cathe's step tapes. I have seen a big difference in my muscles especially in my legs.

Well, I have given birth to 10 children and I still can wear a two piece bathing suit confidentially, so I am doing good. My question is, how old is too old to wear a two piece bathing suit?

My husband also says I look better now than I did 27 years ago when we met (his eye sight has gotten much worse, too) I thank God for that everyday.

I am thinking of another song that sums up how I feel really well. There is a season, turn, turn, turn... It's from Ecclesiastes and speaks of all the times of our lives. "A time to give birth and a time to die...: "A time to weep and a time to laugh...; "A time to mourn and a time to dance..." just to name a few. From a child to a woman to a wife to a mother, a mother of toddlers, now a mother of a teenager, an older mother who can council new ones. I am moving into middle age and I love it. I am grown mellow, calm and content. I wouldn't trade a single wrinkle or roll for youth because I like this woman. I can trace many moments, some not so happy, that have gotten me here and I will keep them all because that's what a life is made of. I have learned from my mistakes and I can roll with the changes and embrace the future. I have this moment. It's a beautiful thing!

If you look good in it, there is no such thing as being too old to wear a 2 piece AND YOU HAD 10 KIDS!!!!!! More power to ya!!! Judy

did you say 10 kids? Wow! you wear that 2 piece as long as you feel great in it! You are an inspiration to all. Keep it up!
