Chalean Extreme??? really???

ok ladies, need your feedback here.

Does anyone out besides myself who feels like they totally wasted time and money on this program???? I was SO dissapointed with it. Very boring and it just feels like all she does is train back.... Anyone thoughts??? I will be returning!

I have it and have tried it a couple of times. I don't really like it. I am thinking of trying it one more time out of a misguided need to finish what I start.

Don't you just love Dr. Emmett Brown? "Is this a hold-up?" "No, it's a science experiment!"

Sorry, cannot comment upon C Xtreme.

I love it, personally. I've lost 50 pounds since I started it (between June and November). I'm working my way up to STS. However the cardio routines that came with the deluxe package were horrid. I didn't mind Burn Intervals, but the others were repetitive and boring. I liked the weight dvd's though. For my cardio i would do Cathe step, treadmill, or Turbo Jam with Chalene. I think part of why I like it so much was because I didn't need anything other than my Bowflex Select tech weights and a band. I just recently bought a barbell so I'm hoping for my upgrade to STS soon! (sending hints to my hubby).

Here's a pic of my progress so far.

I loved it too. The workouts were so short, I could get up in the morning to do Chalean and still have time to fit some cardio in during the afternoon. I lost weight and gained muscle. I just started another rotation of CLX and hope to have the same results as last year.

Wow, Shelby, you look great!
I, too, loved CLX. It was the best fitness investment for me. I didn't think that such short workout would give me such great results.
I'm sorry you are not enjoying it, but I loved this program.

I liked it a lot when i did it. I didn't get any results from it besides strength gains though because my diet was not where it should be. I was thinking of selling it coz I have so much and never use it but I think I need to give it another chance one of these days...:)

I tried it several times, and I really didn't care for it. I think this is one program you either love or hate (not quite that extreme, but you get my point). I was sadly disappointed that I did not like it after reading so many positive results people got w/ her program.

I used it last year. I like the length of the workouts and it was the program where I first discovered that I really like heavy weight training and after it, I discovered Cathe and had to buy STS. I wasn't a big fan of the cardio workouts - they were kind of boring or the yogaish one. I liked the program but that was before I found Cathe. :)

I like the program but I don't really care for Chalene. I get tired of hearing about how great we will look when she herself doesn't look all that great to me. Also I got tired of her pointing out her sister saying 'Hey if you wanna look like this...blah, blah, blah'. Instead of how great we will look she should have just stuck with how great working out with weights is for everyone. Like I said, I do like the program, but I haven't been able to stick with a full rotation of it yet. I think what I need to do, is just not use the videos and use the book.

I have similar throughts on the program DeeDee. I did a rotation last year after I completed the STS 3-month rotation. I did not "jive" with Chalene. I didn't like the revealing tops/cleavage shots and the repetitive terms like "go heavy or go home" and "it's time to get extreme, baby" but did really like the concept of getting in and out in about 30 minutes. I did finish the 90-day rotation but didn't really see any changes in my body...mainly because my eating sucks!

I tried it last summer and never past the phrase 2. So far, the first one did not do anything for me. I might be a bit toner, but not that much. I was thinking of trying it again this summer and hope to finish the whole program.

I appreciate all the different opinions on these workouts. I have all the DVD's including the deluxe and have yet to try them.

Did anyone not use the program as designed? Also, I saw a rotation that mixed up all the cycles - did you like that better?

Yes, I went through the three month rotation. Actually I did Burn Circuit for about 4 months until I felt up to moving on. Push Circuit was the hardest for me and not because of the workout itself. I was always hungry! I certainly was not prepared for my metabolism to go into overdrive like it did. It took me while to really get my calories adjusted. Lean Circuit takes some coordination. I also made sure to not watch Chalene's form for a lot Push and Lean Circuit. I would look at the book's picture or one of the two people in the back row for form. As soon as she bumps up her own weight you can tell she can't really lift it that well and her form is awful! Her lateral raise and deltoid raise both look the same. Luckily I'm stickler for using correct form and just didn't do what she did!

I definitely agree with the statement that Chalene's workouts are a love/hate relationship. Personally I like her a lot although I prefer her Turbo Jam stuff a little bit more. To those who don't like to listen to her I suggest doing what my husband does. Turn off the volume! He can't stand her constant chatter either so he just turns the volume way down.

ETA: the mixed up cycle is great. it does leave me with a little more soreness throughout my week though.

I've thought about getting it, but frankly, it just looks hokey to me. Not impressed.

I think one of the problems with Chalene is that she tries way too hard to be hip and cool; sometimes she just comes off as tacky...at least she does to me sometimes. Unfortunately there was a lot of 'tackiness' in the Chalene Extreme workouts, from some of the outfits to some of the comments.

Ooh can someone post the mixed rotation? I totally love CLX and can't wait for her Turbo Fire, so I can mix that in as well! My body actually responded better to the CLX program than it did to STS, but I'm probably in the minority there..
