Cathletes Gettin' To Goal 10/4 - 10/11

Look at you go, Nancy! :D Great job! Yay for being able to finds some clothes while shopping. One more week and then I'm going to hit it hard.

Nice bench, Linda. Yes, I'll post some pics when it's all over. :)

We took my DM out to eat after church for her birthday today. My SIL brought a cake and I did eat little but it was from Sams and had the whipped cream icing on it and I don't really care for it. Now normally, I would have eaten all of it just because it was in front of me and was cake but I didn't finish it today. :D For me, that's progress. LOL

It's going to be a busy week for me but I'll check in when I can.:D

Thanks for starting us off, Nancy! YOU are on a roll! I am thrilled for you!! I has to feel so good!! YAY! :D

HB to your DM, Rhondalyn! Good job on resisting the sub-par cake/frosting! You know a "friend" of mine once pretended to be "researching" cake frosting for a wedding cake and asked the Sam's Club bakery person for samples. And I agree, the whipped cream frosting was not good.:eek:

I have been out of commission for that last few days. Not sure what happened or why, but I had a set back with my back and have had the worst leg and backside pain ever. :( In short, I'm getting another cortisone shot on Wednesday and to help me through until then, I have an Rx of Vicodin.

I do have some hope though. I started feeling a bit better yesterday. I only took 1 vicodin in the morning and by the afternoon I was shopping at Kohl's, wishing I had some Kohl's Cash like Rhondalyn! I did have a 30% off coupon though. I had some luck with finding winter clothes too, Nancy.

Jacque, I did join that community center gym! The place was really clean and the pools (they have 2!) were warm and sparkling! I will start the water aerobics classes tomorrow evening. I'm really looking forward to them. My PT, chiro, regular doc, and the radiologist(he does the shots) all think the water exercises will be very good for my back. I'm hoping they're right. :)

Linda: How's the painting/room redecorating going today? That is a great deal you go on the Equoesque(sp) seminar. Let me know if they give you some info on the online classes. I was looking at their website and I would have to do their online program. I'd like to know more about them. :)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I'm watching my DH(from the warmth of the heated house) put away the patio furniture in the cold and wind! I'm also trying to come up with a clever theme (or is it scheme) to get my BIL and SIL's DH out here to help my DH take the dock out for winter!

'Til later! :D

Way to go Nancy!!!!

Rhondalynn: I'm so with you on that nasty whipped icing....who would want that???

Lisa: Sorry to hear you've been in pain. I hope you are feeling better today.

No weight loss for me, but no gain. Maybe I've permanantly lost the 6, but the rest won't budge! I can't pretend I don't know why....Chili's on Saturday and then a potluck at work where I brought Rice Krispie Treats w choc chips....let's just say today is major damage control. It does seem, though that if I get back on track quickly that I am not gaining back what I lost....I got a dress for the Marine Corps Ball. Its a size 6, so I cannot gain an ounce or it won't fit...that should be motivation enough.
My mom is coming to visit Nov 12, so I am starting my preparations...remember how that feels Lisa? Yikes!

Have a good week everyone!

Hey Nancy(because I know you have them all!;)), or anyone who knows,
what's your opinion of Cathe's special she has this week-- Step, Jump & Pump + Step Blast DVD . I am thinking about buying this one. I'll take a look at the video preview online later, but, 30% seems pretty good :).

I'll come back in a bit (maybe tonight) to post..., and after I eat dim sum for lunch(wish me luck with controlling my portions--I don't think I will do too well!!).

Encouraging the rest of you today!

I'm not Nancy, but I thought I'd give you my 2 cents worth on SJP/SB.

In a word, this DVD is: FUN!!
I'll start with SJP. The floor segment-by itself-is about 20 min. It is so much fun and the choreography is wonderful. The step segment on SJP is about 20 minutes as well; it's short, fun, and the music is great. I can't really speak to the weigh work because I've only done SJP "as is" once. I usually just do the step+hi/lo premix.

There are A LOT of premixes on this DVD.

SB(Step Blast) is just that: a blast!! :D There are 3 combos and then you do "The Challenge" (you may think she's trying to kill you!!). My favorite combos are the 1st and 3rd. Cathe has you flying around your step (safely of course ;)). Anyway, if you really like step, then this one is a must, IMHO. I really like this DVD...

HTH!

Thanks Lisa! Yes -- that helped. It sounds really fun! I guess I will just HAVE to buy it. Wish I had it right now, though, so I could work off all the dim sum that I just ate. yumm! Do y'all know what dim sum is?:p

Off to check the prices of this DVD....

Monday

Rhondalyn, way to make progress in not eating something sweet when you didn't really like it. I'm with you on the whipped frosting -- give me buttercream or cream cheese frosting every time! Good luck this week.

Lisa, how is your pain today? I'm sure that retail therapy at Kohl's was responsible for a vast improvement. I saw on FB that you had your first water aerobics class. What did you think (other than being the youngest one there!)? I'm inferring from the dock needing to be pulled in for the winter that you live on lake? That must be beautiful. I don't think I would trade our temps for yours, even with the lake, though. It's all in what you're used to, that's for sure.

Lacy, that's great that you were able to get a dress for the ball. There's your incentive for keeping that weight off, that's for sure. You'll do it.

Linda, yes you must by that DVD if just for Step Blast alone -- so much fun! SJP I'm lukewarm about just because I don't much like floor aerobics anymore. But I don't hate it (and will defintely do it in a rotation) like I do MIC (which I won't do).

Thanks to everyone for the congratulations on my weight loss. I'm very happy about it. Saturday completed the first two-week phase of the 6-Week Cure diet that I'm doing and Sunday started the next two weeks that are nicknamed "the meat weeks." It's very low carb to rev up the metabolism and teach the body to use fat for energy. So far so good. I'm holding my breath that I don't gain any of the weight back now that I'm eating the meals I was replacing with shakes, but in theory that should not happen. The extended life of this plan is not low carb like these two weeks are.

Yesterday's workout was on the treadmill while watching Private Practice. Today's workout was CLX BC1. Hard to believe I'm into the third week of this already.

Have a great week, everyone!

Happy Tuesday everyone!:D

Just got the kids out the door for school. It's always a mad house here in the mornings. Yesterday's workout was Drill Max. Not sure yet what I'm going to do today.

Nancy, Congratulations on the weight loss! You go girl! LOL:D I'm impressed that you could do the shake thing for two weeks. Was it hard? How do they taste? I can't believe you're on week three of CLX already! The time is just flying by.

Rhondalyn: Hope you're getting through this stressful time ok. I know what you mean about passing up the subpar cake.:) We had a cake party at church on Sunday for all the October birthdays. I didn't resist:eek: It was a delicious chocolate cake. Have you found an updo you like yet? How about a dress for the wedding?

Linda, So did you get SJP/SB? If you did you won't regret it. It's a fun DVD. Defenitely one of my favorites. So did you get your workout room finished?

Lisa, Sorry to hear about your setback.:( How was your water aerobics class? I LOL at your frosting sampling story.:D So did you find any cute clothes at Kohl's? I've never shopped there but I know a lot of people like it.

Lacey, So glad you found a dress for the ball. Size 6 huh? That's great! Better stay away from the halloween candy!;)

Well I'd better run. We have bible study here tonight and I need to clean my house.

Checking in while I can. No w/o yet but I plan on getting on the TM tonight. It's raining here.

I hope it clears up by Saturday but it looks like it's going to be cold right now.

That's funny about your friend, Lisa. What a great thing to research though. I think I might have to try that one day. LOL

Hope you're feeling okay.

Good luck maintaining that size 6, Lacy. :p How far does your mom live from you?

Linda, I like that DVD as well. I do Step Blast more than the other w/o though but I recommend getting them. I have no clue what dim sum is? I was going to google it. ;)

Nancy, good luck with this next phase. Do you get fruit on this phase?

I've decided against the updo, Jacque. I'm not sure exactly what I'll do with my hair at this point but I do have a dress. It's being altered and I'm supposed to pick it up this evening. I pray I can fit in it is all I'm going to say about it right now.:eek::eek: I'm supposed to be cleaning but I hate it. I'm having the rehearsal dinner at the house but I just can't get motivated for some reason. I'm working on bathrooms today.

I really need to get on the TM tonight because I doubt I'll get a w/o in tomorrow. I think I have lots to do. I was supposed to start a new Bible study in the morning but I think I'm going to have to miss the first one. :(

Oh well........ be back later......

Just taking a break from cleaning.

Rhondalyn: I think the 'friend' Lisa was talking about was herself ;). I could be wrong though. I hate cleaning bathrooms I'm almost done with them though (4 down 1 more to go) I don't know why I'm so OCD about cleaning. It's not like anyone from the Bible Study is going to be looking in my son's shower. I'm sure your dress will look beautiful. You'll have to post pictures. :)

Much to my amazement, I'm down a pound this week! I thought for sure the scale was lying, so I weighed myself 4 times!! lol! Apparenlty, tracking food helps!! :p

Tonight I will do the SS Cardio Sculpt and some stretching. I think I'll put KS Fat Burning Workout back on the shelf for now, my pain coming back seems to correlate with the addition of that workout. I thinks it was all the side to side moves and lunges.

As Jacque and Nancy mentioned, I started water aerobics classes last night. It was a good workout-my arms already hurt! The music was a bit dated (think Monster Mash) and there was even a polka song! I've been researching water fitness a bit and I'm getting a belt (helps keep you afloat) and some water shoes. I wonder if they make a waterproof heart rate monitor? I love my Polar HRM! A deep water aerobics starts next month-looking forward to that because that is virtually no impact.

Lacy: Goodness I love rice krispie treats! They are not allowed in my house...much.
You'll have to post a pic of your new ball dress! Fun!
I totally remember preparing for my mom's visit. Good luck with your cleaning, organizing, planning....etc... ;)

Linda: Did you get SJP/SB yet?? I think you'll like it!! How did the dim sum lunch go? I do know what dim sum is and I think it's delicious! In general, I love all foods in the Asian region: Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese... love all of it!! I've been craving Thai noodles and Vietnamese fresh spring rolls lately. I keep forgetting to ask my sister the name of that Portland Thai place. It was THE best!

Nancy: You are doing so well on your eating plan AND on your CLX rotation! Do they slowly transition you back to "good" carbs?
My pain has been pretty much nil yesterday and today. That is a huge relief. I can get so much more done at work (even with the occassional visits to the Cathe Forums ;)) when I'm not in pain.
Yep, I live on a lake. And while it is nice to live on the water, I would gladly give it up for a house with a gourmet kitchen and closets! We have a very small house/cabin-my husband bought it back in 1992. I didn't meet him until 2006-I drop a hint about once or twice a year about how closets would be nice. :D
Don't get me started on the weather. As I get older (or is it wiser?), I really can't handle the winters here. It's just so cold. Most of our neighbors are snowbirds and go down to AZ or FL for the winter. Do you notice it when all the snowbirds come back down for the winter? :D Last year, DH visited friends in the Scottsdale area and I'm pretty sure we're doing the same this year! Even if the temps are only in the 60's, it is still 60 degrees warmer than here!!

Jacque: How did you post that awesome DM clip on FB? I love(d) that workout. My favorite drill is the one with the ball.
I got some great deatls at Kohl's! Spent $85 (saved $112!). I found a pair of jeans and a few shirts to get me through the winter. I'm planning to get back down to the size I was so I don't want to buy too many things since I have a whole wardrobe all packed away.:eek:
Have a great workout-whatever you pick and have fun hosting your bible study group tonight! I'm OCD too when it comes to cleaning for company. My husband just shakes his head (as he climbs the ladder to get the cobwebs at the tippy top of the ceilings and windows). ;)

Rhondalyn: It's raining here too. It's gray and yucky looking. :p
Not sure where I missed this..but someone in your family must be getting married this weekend? Son? Daughter? :) I'm sure your dress will fit just fine and it will look fabulous!
 Yep, I was the "friend" testing frostings. lol! I have such horrible cravings for it!! I've actually perfected a recipe. Let me know if you want it. :D

Happy Tuesday to all!

Tuesday

Jacque, the shakes tasted really good and I'm kind of missing them already this week. I can definitely see me using them for breakfast once I get into the longterm swing of this plan. How they taste is pretty much up to you as you can add all kinds of flavors to the base. For the morning I added fruit. For the afternoon I would add rootbeer or orange soda (people added Davinci syrups and extracts) for a creamy treat. I used chocolate and vanilla protein powder, depending on the taste I was going for. Congratulations on signing up for the 5K. You'll do great. Is it there in town?

Rhondalyn, my fingers are crossed for you that you guys have good weather this weekend. As far as the eating plan, there is very little fruit in this phase. Also no dairy, keeping things very low carb. Hang in there -- the wedding will be over in a flash and you'll wonder how it could go by so quickly.

Lisa, hooray on the weight loss this week! I had to laugh about your checking the scale over and over. I've done that many times with both good and bad results that I just can't believe. I hope you can tolerate that hip music in your aerobics class. Maybe you can make a special request of the instructor to throw in at least a few more up-to-date tunes. As far as your house, yeah I can understand wanting closets. Who would build a house without them? Snowbirds will start making their way here in the next month or so and we very definitely notice them in both good and aggravating ways. They live here, too, so they stimulate the economy and help promote the arts and theater events. Unfortunately, they also clog up the roads and make everything more crowded. That's along with the college students attending the University of Arizona. Summer may be blazing hot here, but there are a lot fewer people! Scottsale is a fun place to visit, as there are so many upscale places to play around in.

I had a pretty busy day today, but got a lot accomplished, including some Torch Run work, giving blood, and getting the new stray dog's nails trimmed (they were brutal). It is a rest day on the CLX rotation, but I had time to squeeze in about half of Low Max. It was fun when I pulled it out from the shelf to see Cathe's autograph on it. Memories!

Oh my gosh! Everyone has been soooo active and busy. It is great to hear what everyone has been up to.

Lacy, enjoy the ball. I am sure that you will look great in a size 6 dress!!

Rhondalyn, I have been thinking about you since Oct 1 knowing you had a wedding coming up. I just couldn't remember when it was. As everyone can tell I haven't checked in in a while. I hope the weather is nice for you. We have had rain here everyday for almost 2 weeks now. It is awful.

Jacque, I hope your bible study went well. I will be joining you with cleaning an insane amount of bathrooms soon. Our new house has 4 full baths.

Lisa, I did water aerobics a few years ago and loved it. I liked that I felt tired from a tough workout but refreshed from being in the water. The hardest part for me was going out into the ice-cold temps outside afterward. I hope it helps your back.

Linda, I have heard of people eating dim sum but I have no idea what it is. Hard to believe, I know. I don't hav SJP/SB but I have the Timesaver and there are parts of those on there and they are great. I should just buy the dvd too!

Nancy, Good luck with your eating plan. I have trouble sticking to things like that for more than a week or two.

As for me, it has been hectic here. I am teaching 2 new courses so that takes up all of my time from after I put the kids to bed until I go to bed. I didn't work out for two weeks and did just the pushups from GS Chest and a few pull-ups. I did also did PUB biceps. (We are living at my in-laws and my brothers-in-law left a decent amount of gym stuff here. Trouble is I don't use it often enough.) Anyway, I was sore for 2 days in places I didn't know I could be sore. We closed on our old house yesterday. I spend most of my plan periods at school on the phone with lawyers, utility companies, etc. Plus my kids are sick. Danielle had a febrile seizure on Tuesday so we spent the afternoon and evening in the ER. Have you ever had to entertain a 2 yo on a bed for 6 hours where she can't touch anything? Nearly impossible. She now has to have an EEG and she had an EKG. They say these seizures are caused by a spike in temp but we are still having them run some other tests because this was her second one. I am hoping that by Mon I can get back to a more consistent routine. (BTW I love living at my in-laws. They are so helpful and the laundry is always done and dinner is on the table. I don't like that my kids are not contained to one or two rooms and I spend the entire time I am home chasing them. If one is playing the other wants to play in another room. If I could just get them to play in one room at the same time it would be great.)

I have rambled on for long enough now. I am home with the kids today and I just heard my little one. Have a great day everyone. I hope to check in again soon.

Thursday

Melissa, that's great that it's working out so well at your in-laws. Having those chores done for you is a great timesaver. What wonderful family you have! Did you get things straightened out about the new house yet?

Today was CLX Burn Circuit 2. I was crazy busy today and operating on about two hours of sleep so it was probably not my best effort, but it's "in the books" as finished.

Hi everyone. I hope you're all having a good week.:D

Rhondalyn: I hope things aren't too crazy for you. Hang in there!:)

Nancy: That's great that you've been able to stick to your diet plan. I know I could never last on one like that. Maybe if I get desperate enough I might try it. I'll have to break my diet dr. pepper habit first. I'm pretty sure they're not on the plan;). The 5K is here this weekend. It's part of the county fair festivites which started tonight. I hear you have a new pet.:D That's wonderful that you'd take in a stray like that.

Lisa: Congratulations on the weight loss! I know what you mean about the HRM. I'm addicted to mine too. I have to know how many calories I'm burning. I really hope the water aerobics work out for you. You'll have to let me and Nancy know if you come down to Scottsdale. Maybe we could plan a get-together:). We're friends with a couple who live on a lake in Montana but spend the winters here in AZ. I think that would be pretty cool. They're always inviting us there but we've never made it.

Melissa: Sorry to hear about your daughter being sick. I hope it's nothing too serious. Wow! It sounds like you've been really busy. That's great that you have your in-laws to help you out right now. How long before you move into your new house?

Today's workout was Butts and Guts Standing glutes and abs premix. Yesterday I did PUB pyramid up premix and ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill. I though I better get at least one run in before the race on Saturday (especially since I haven't ran since before the RT:eek:) I should be able to finish the race OK (I'm sure I'll have to stop and walk a little bit). I won't break any speed records but at least I'll finish.:p

The weather has been beautiful. It was in the 70's today (suppossed to be in the 40's tonight). I'm so happy fall is finally here.:D

Isn't this weather great?? It's supposed to get back to normal next week, so let's enjoy it while we can.

Did you catch my FB post a few weeks ago about the 16-year-old I met who is running across the country? Here is her page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Jazzy/96858267625?ref=nf She is going to be in the parade tomorrow morning.

I understand about anyone being reluctant to try this eating plan that I'm on. If it weren't for the fact that I have prior experience with the authors I would be hesitant, too. It was pretty much a leap of faith. And truly, the shakes were pretty darned good and I miss the ease/convenience of them. I'll be having them again occasionally after these two weeks are over. You would have to give up your Diet Dr. Pepper for two weeks, but then you could add it back in. I am finding, though, that I'm just fine now with the caffeine free Diet Pepsi that I bought to get me through those weeks. Go figure.

Nancy: Darn. I was hoping the cooler temps were here to stay. I should of known better.:p
No, I didn't see your previous FB post. I don't think we were 'friends' then.:D I didn't make it to the parade so I didn't see Jazzy. Did you actually meet her? Why is she running? Is it for a cause? I signed up as a fan of hers on FB but I haven't read what she is all about yet.
I'm only hesitant of starting your eating plan because I know me and I know how I am. It would be very hard for me to only do the shakes especially when I'm having to cook dinner for everyone else in my family. I need to do something though. My willpower is horrible. I'm staying away from the fair this weekend because I know I'll be eating everything. It's bad enough that my DH brought back kettle korn, cotton candy and bbq sandwiches last night. He has a house on exhibit in the fair (manufactured home) so he's there for pretty much the whole thing. My DS is singing with his choir tomorrow at the fair so I'll have to go for that.

I need to get downstairs and do my workout. I'm not sure yet what I want to do though. My legs are a little sore and I have that race in the morning. I don't know if I should work them a little bit or let them rest. I need to get something done though.

Tonight is a home football game against Santa Cruz so I'll be going to that later. DS lost his starting position since he had to miss last week's game because of his sprained ankle. I'm not sure if I agree with that. Coach says he has to 'earn' it back now. If he plays well tonight he might get it back.

Did everyone see the new cathe downloads? Is anyone going to buy any? I'm kind of on the fence since I already own everything on DVD. I'm not sure it I would ever use the downloads. I'll have to think about it a little more.

Talk to everyone later. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hello!!

Who else has snow at their house? No one, really? hmm...well it is snowing here! I am NOT ready for this and I DON'T like it one bit!! grrrr....

Raise your hand if you're glad the week is over!! ^^ :D Work was crazy this week! It's quarter end and I've been a tax reporting machine all week! I report to no less than 27 states! I'm all done with state reporting, just have federal left to do.

I'm still virtually pain-free! I even cancelled my cortisone shot. Water aerobics is going well. There was a different instructor tonight, and I like her style much better than the other instructor. She was organized and kept us moving the whole time. This weekend I'm going get a water jogger belt and some water sock. Gotta have the right equipment to get the full benefit of the workout!! ;)

Not much on the agenda for the weekend. Have to put some summer clothes away and pull out my winter clothes. DH and I might go see "Couples Retreat" tomorrow night. Looks funny. :D

Rhondalyn: Good luck with the festivities tomorrow! Hope everything is going smoothly!

Melissa: How's your DD? I hope she's doing better. How scary. Your in-laws sound wonderful!! How nice to come home to clean laundry and a meal!! :D When do you move into your new house?

Nancy: Tonight's H2O class had much better music. Nothing wrong with a little bit o' country :D
I asked my husband the same question when I moved in the house.."who thought closets weren't a necessity?" Also, the kitchen has only 3, yes 3, overhead cupboards and virtually no counter space. We're going to do a kitchen remodel-hopefully this spring.
Have you caught up on your sleep? :D I am so impressed with you following your eating plan and workouts every day, every week! I don't know if I could give up my Diet Coke! I tried replacing it with flavored green tea(hot) but it just wasn't the same!
How's your new puppy? What a great thing you do!!
Our neighbors are leaving for Mesa next week. So look out--here come the snowbirds!! :p The weather person is forecasting snow for Monday.

Jacque: GOOD LUCK tomorrow--with your run and the fair food! :D:eek: Stay far away from the funnel cake and deep-fried candy bars!!
How did your son's game go tonight? Did he get his starter position back? What a crazy thing to take that away from an injured player.
I did see the Cathe downloads. They look interesting. I don't have any sort of MP3 player -iPod or otherwise-so I probably won't be getting them anytime soon. Plus, I can't do them right now. Tho' I am going to give PUB a whirl tomorrow. :)
I will definitely let you and Nancy know if I'm coming to Scottsdale. Very fun! Scottsdale is nice...lots of good shopping! :D

Have a great weekend everyone, I'll check back in Sunday.

Jacque, best if luck with your 5K tomorrow and have fun with it! Be sure to let us know how it goes. I'm sorry that you're missing all of the fun of the fair, but I understand about being at a point where you just can't resist all of the temptation and it ends up being torture instead of a fun time. I gather your husband is a homebuilder or seller, then? I completely understand about anyone being hesitant about this eating plan. I certainly was. I always chose dinner as my meal for the day, so I was eating at the same time as everyone else. They ate what I was eating, although sometimes I would add potatoes or rice for their benefit. Mostly not, though, and they haven't missed them. I hope the game went in Safford's favor tonight and that your son was able to prove himself worthy of that starting slot. I did see the info about the downloads. I may buy a few like Stretch Max and/or Core Max just to have to do in hotel rooms when I travel. Now that I have my laptop, it would be nice to have different things to choose from in addition to Stephanie Huckabee's POWERFit and Cathe's upcoming travel workout (filming starts next week on Shock Cardio!!) without needing to pack the DVD itself. I imagine the gym rats are going to just love this feature.

Lisa, what is this "snow" that you speak of? <grin> What a boon that you have discovered the water aerobics and are liking it enough to start accumulating the equipment you need to make it the best workout you can. And the most important thing is that you're pain free -- how wonderful! That kitchen remodel will be a total pain while it's going on, but so very worth it in the end. If we can all meet up when you come to Scottsdale that would be a lot of fun. Please do keep us posted. Have fun with PUB!

Last night was another much-interrupted sleep night for me because of the new dog (we bought a bark collar for him today, which two of our other three dogs already get to wear at night), but nothing dramatic like the night before when we had more stray dog drama (three stray dogs, to be exact -- but they're gone now and I won't bore you with details). I swear, I have had enough of these strays for now, thankyouverymuch. I got up really late and we had a bunch of errands to run so I passed on a workout today, which I was kind of bummed about. But I'll be back on track with CLX BC3 tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone, including all of our missing members. Wonder where Heather has gotten to?
