Hi Everyone:
I’m sorry I did not post much this week. It just started picking up speed this week and I only had time to post my 1-liners on Facebook… I saw Lisa tonight there!
I’ll try to get personals in on another post, ‘coz I know that’s important for encouragement and getting to know one another better, but, I am really tired and I might fall asleep on my keyboard J.
I’ve been pretty busy this week…
Some of you have been asking how my office/workout room is coming along. I did get it painted last Saturday, then Sunday I touched up the white spots that I missed(it is sort of a bright coral color—both my daughter and husband don’t like it, but I do because it is a happy color and brings positive energy to the room, which will be good to help me get motivated for my workouts). I need to put together the TV stand/console/shelf thingy I bought from IKEA, so, I have somewhere to put the TV. I’m still working out in the family room because it has the TV, and my DVD’s are still in the entertainment center out there. I want to put up a wire shelf for my exercise balls, wooden pegs behind the door for bands, and mirrors on one wall. All the office stuff is moved in, and about 2/3 of the workout stuff is(but still got a ways to go to finish this project!). Eventually you WILL see pics!
Dim Sum… Some of you already know J. Growing up in the 60’s Chinese, I got the Chinese food experience that most of you didn’t get. Portland didn’t really have any dim sum places that I can remember, but, on our vacations to San Francisco or Vancouver BC, we got to enjoy this fun eating experience. We went to the dim sum places around 11:00am. You entered the restaurant and the waitresses would be pushing around these carts with small dishes in steamers. You didn’t need to know how to speak Chinese; you just needed fingers to point(but, my parents spoke it, with English actually being their stronger language). The waitresses lifted the lids off the steamers and my parents picked the items – normally small portions of little steamed dumplings made of shrimp, pork, or chicken, etc. Sometimes they ordered chow mein noodles to eat with our meals. My dad use to get Chicken feet(it wasn’t gross to me either, just funny!). Anyway, these little steamed foods were bite size and always very tasty(probably not healthy). Fun to remember(without going into much detail…). Anyway, there’s a good dim sum place that popped up near my daughter’s school, and I went there Monday and ate a lot! The items are still as tasty as I remember, but there are “new” items(at least to me), and my friends enjoy it as much as I do! It’s fun, because we don’t always know what we are getting; it makes it a fun experience eating the tasty mystery food!
Also, I have been tired because I’ve been getting up early (4:45) to get stuff ready in the morning, and to exercise. But, I get stuck on the computer, and end of not exercising sometimes L. And, I’ve been busy with my physical therapy appointments(Tues and Thurs), that don’t take much time, but, detract from work, since I have to leave work. Also, I’ve been an Art Lit volunteer at DD’s school, preparing the Powerpoint presentations for the school volunteers. I go to both the volunteer training sessions (Tues night and Wed morning), which also detract from work.
A good thing I did yesterday(which also took me away from work) was I did a 5.1K fast walk. It was a lot of fun, as it was sponsored and encouraged by the health and fitness people at work. I walked with someone I didn’t even know(she was a friend’s friend, and she looked like Goldie Hawn & her DD Kate Hudson). We were competitive in the sense that we wanted to pass everyone and didn’t want to be last, and she was fun to talk to, too, so that made the time pass by fast. Today my legs were sore at my hip flexors, back, and I had shin splints! Very weird, ‘coz I exercise a lot. I guess those muscles don’t get used as much!
And finally today, we had a group event with lots of food and a movie. Very fun time, but, then again I ate a lot. I luckily ate mostly salad or fruit, and just put a small amount of pasta on my plate and had 1-1/2 petite fours.
I guess with so many things going on and with being back at work learning new process rules for the layout designs, I’m not putting enough focus on my portion sizes. I do track, so I can see most days I don’t go far over m WW points, but, a couple of days or maybe 3 days, I might go way over the points. Also, being too tired to exercise doesn’t help. I am thinking next week will be a calmer week and I hope to re-acclimate myself to this whole work schedule and life’s busy-ness! I’ve got to get back in the non-sabbatical mode again!
Tomorrow I am going to the Egoscue workshop from 9:00 to 4:00 with DH. Looking forward to that! Lisa, I know you wanted more info on this, and I’ll get it to you. DH is slowly getting better, but, I want to make sure that it really is “the” answer for him, before I go spreading the good news that he is finally getting better! BTW, glad your water therapy is helping you Lisa—maybe it is those old gals in there that make you feel young and youthful!!!
Okay, better sign off for now and get to bed. Got to get in some cardio or short upper body before the Egoscue tomorrow.
Oh, I just remembered: I did order SJP/Step Blast! Thanks so much everyone for all your good recommendations! I’m very excited to get it. I’m still getting a kick out of and having fun with Cathe’s older workouts – they are much more do-able and easily learnable compared to Amy’s which not only gives me physical fatigue, but, mental fatigue trying to keep up and pay attention! J But, I still do like Amy’s workouts a lot!
I hope everyone has a nice weekend and keep up the good work!
