It is now 25 bucks to get your picture taken with Santa at the mall?
My god....That is crazy..
What if somone had 5 kids?
You know, sometimes i think some of this has been blown out of porportion.
I really would like my grandson to go, but i think it is nuts to spend that when it could be spent better..
Am i crazy ?
Am i being cheap?

no you aren't!!!!!

we haven't taked the kids to see Santa in a while since they have outgrown that, but when we did one of us would stand in line and the other would wait around for the kids to get on his lap and then take a picture with our own camera. :p

That's insane!
Santa is a big draw for the malls. You would think they would keep that to their cost only. What the heck could they be thinking?

I agree - a big rip off! Actually last night we had pictures taken (by my mother) who is very reasonable ;) It took about 15 shots to get one that actually looked good because I have a 9 year old goof ball who thinks picture time is the time to cross eyes and stick out tongue:p ...but we printed them off the computer and whaaaalaaaaa - pictures are ready for the Christmas cards. I don't think people keep the pics anyways so I figured why spend all that money for professional pictures?

Sometimes I think santa is a bit overrated. :7

My kids are too old for Santa now but when they were younger we were lucky to see Santa in other places than the mall - company Christmas party for kids, big annual cookie sale they have around here, etc. If you keep your eyes peeled maybe you can find another opportunity for your kids to visit with Santa, get a picture and not have to stand in line for hours like you do at the mall. :)

There is NO WAY I'd pay 25 bucks to have my kid (if I had kids;) ) sit on the lap of some fat old geezer dressed up in a Santa suit. This is in the tradition of Ebenezer Scrooge and Mr. Potter--lol!

Well you save a lot of money if you're with my son b/c he took one look at Santa and had a major freak out. You forget how big Santa looks even when you're 3 ft tall. Woah baby.

Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice.

You are neither crazy nor cheap.
That is outrageous.
And quite against the spirit of Christmas, since only families with money (or with only one child, perhaps) could afford it.

Sounds like the mall (or whereever) has made a profit-making venture out of it.

I remember when 'Santa' came to my house once as a kid, and delivered one of my presents. I'm sure it didn't cost my parents much at all (because we wouldn't have had the money).

That is totally absurd and ludicrous (sp)! What is this world coming to anyway? There seems to be a bunch of greedy people out there who want to make lots of money on something as sweet as a picture of your child with Santa!

Maybe, it is just this one place you went to. I sure hope so - I definitely wouldn't pay for it either.

Cheryl

That is ridiculous. We have 3 children 6 and 2. For the past 4 years we go the Saturday after Thanksgiving to cut down our own tree and the kids can see santa and a picture for free.

In all due fairness I never grew up going to the mall at Christmas and we do not push the whole santa thing.

My sister, on the other hand, has always taken her kids and had pictures taken.

I haven't done the character-photo thing in years. My eldest used to scream his head off every time he'd be on Santa's lap, so I'd always caption those photos, "You'll shoot your eye out, kid" (hehe).

The final straw was taking him to the Easter Bunny and having him tell me how "old and creepy" the bunny's hands were. Ewww!

The picture with Santa only lasts for one month. Then it is over. WOW! Talk about using Christmas to get money out of people. Geesh! It really makes me rethink the whole thing about why I do this buying once a year. Ummmm.

Well I'm going to reconsider buying anything next year. Just made my eyes even wider.

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

PLEASE tell me the money goes to buy toys for kids who might not have such a Merry Christmas.

Or that the $$$ is donated to "Toys for Tots".

At our mall you can stand in line and take your own photo for free. It's when you pay for theirs that it is insanely expensive.
