Cathlete
hi cathe & all!
i'm a 30-something, really busy doc and mom of a toddler. i used to run and do cathe when i was in school, but life sort of took over and i haven't consistently exercised for several years now.
i want to lose 15 lbs and just get back into great shape. i finally pulled out my old (and small!) exercise video collection a few days ago and although i'm sore :), exercising feels great.
i haven't bought a new cathe video in AGES and would love to hear tips/suggestions for videos to buy, rotations to try, etc. i can realistically spare about 45-60 min/day, 3-5 days a week for exercise, so whatever i do, it's gotta pack a punch. with that being said, i'm easing myself back into workout mode, but i can't wait to do some of cathe's newer, intense workouts!
looking forward to your input!
thanks,
sunsdaughter

Beginning DVD suggestions:

Cross Train Express (frequently referred to as CTX); a 6-workout series produced to be done one each day, with a 7th day of rest; varied cardio, isolated muscle group training for all groups including legs, upper body and core; each workout is about 1 hours;

The Timesaver DVD from the Body Blast series: a 5-workout compilation dvd of footage from the cardio and muscle conditioning workouts in Body Blast; each workout is under an hour, and if you perform all 5 workouts you again get cardio and total-body muscle training including lower body, upper body and core by the end of the week; and

The 4-Day Split Series: 4 workouts each of which include a cardio component and a muscle conditioning component so that, once again, by the end of the week you've hit all the majors; the muscle conditioning workouts especially have consistently gotten rave reviews. The choreography on the two step workouts is quite complex; be prepared for a learning curve there.

HTH - welcome back!

4 day split would be a good place to start. as mentioned above, it has both cardio and strength. each workout is approx. 60 minutes in length (30 cardio/30 strength) but they do not have to be done together. 4ds is extremely versatile and has several premixes, including circuits and double cardio. if your short on time, there are so many options to choose from to fit your schedule. i found the choreography on low intensity step easy to pick up on, however, higher intensity step did take some time (but I'm loving it now). bootcamp and kickbox are also favorites. good luck.

I'd also suggest 4 Day Split to get back in the swing of things. To take it up a notch also with alot of premix options.....Drill Max, Body Max 2 and for weights...Muscle Max for total body or the Gym Style Series for a split workout.
