Broken Tail Bone!

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just left the doc's office. I have fractured my tailbone with my gracefull slip down our steps this weekend!!!! Anyone ever do this??

She said exercise is up to me and what I feel. Tried jumping jacks - those are a no go...

Zoiks! I hurt my tailbone in high school and I had a hard time sitting for a few weeks. I remember going to college orientation which involved sitting on wooden bleachers for 30 minutes while some college officials blather impertinently. I took one look at those wooden bleachers and said "No way!" To this day, whenever it is damp I can feel it in the old tailbone. You have my sympathies!

OH MAN !! I feel for you. Never done it myslef but DH did a few yrs back. He was a hurting unit for quite some time. Of course he is a man - LOL
I have to ask....Did they take an x-ray of your butt?

Yes, they did! :) Doc said there's nothing they can do. I asked her to do a cast in a nicely shaped butt with no cellulite :D:D -so my butt would look nice for Christmas. unfortunately, they don't do that.

Yes, I broke my butt! I knew I had a crack in it, but now i have two - in and out :D:D:D:D:p:p:p:p:eek:

The DR. broke mine delivering my first son 14 years ago. (He still is a pain in the @$$! LOL)
Some exercises like boat pose and things are still uncomfortable.

And old boyfriend of mine did and I guess it was painful for a few weeks. The first week or so, I would concentrate on upper body - give the butt a break - no pun intended. It actually recovers faster because it's not in a cast.

Although I have to admit I teased him a lot about having his butt in a sling.

I broke my tailbone a few years ago when someone knocked into me at a roller skating rink - I went flying and fell right on my behind. I broke my wrist, too. If I remember correctly, it took about three weeks to feel healed and, for some reason, got worse before it got better. I think how you feel really depends on where the bone is cracked - whether it is higher or lower in the tailbone. I think I was able to exercise (cardio), but had to modify what I would normally do.

Hope you feel better soon.

ROFLMAO :D:D:D:D

Not about your pain, but your butt crack, not the first butt crack, the NEW butt crack!!!:eek:

A tailbone injury is painful for a week or two so take it easy. Because it;s not a bone we use for weight bearing etc, it heals pretty quickly. Rest, ice and Not too much jumping around!!! Hope you feel better soon

I recall driving was fun. i could drive only short distances and did so by having one hand on the steering wheel and one hand pulling on the door to keep my whole arse from being on the seat. And yes, I do recall it getting much worse before it got better. I never went to a doctor.

i'm so sorry to hear about your tail bone!

.....but this thread is cracking me up!

beavs, i can just picture someone driving like that!!! lol!!!!

Oh man, I did this in high school and it was so painful. I remember it taking weeks to heal as others have described.

Don't they make those donut seats that you can sit on that don't put pressure on the tail bone? I wish I'd had one of those back then!

Heidi

yep, they make them. I picked one up at the drug store.

However, I was thinking, maybe I'd feel better getting the kind of donuts you eat and then there'd be more padding?

Oh I'm so sorry about your tailbone - but amazed at your attitude - that you can laugh about it! I hope you heal fast!!

They are pretty greasy, especially with frosting so you might end up sliding out of your seat....and literally leaving streaks.

I really have to try to put this behind me now.

HA HA

Yes, have to have a good attitude, it hurts, but it's also a bit funny with all the jokes! Cracks me up.

Beavs, streaks........too funny

OMG! this tread brought tears to my eyes... Mostly because of the jokes (loved the two cracks crack!), but also I remember how much it HURTS to break your butt, because I have BTDT TWICE. I fell off the monkey bars when I was about 16 years old and felt like I was paralized for a bit, and remember those little stars and little yellow birdies swirling around my head for a bit... then I fell down the stairs at a friends house about 5 years ago and did it again... this time i had a nice black and purple cantaloup sized bruise on my a$$ too! That one I used the whoopy cushion... I mean the donut pillow, the non-frosting, skidless kind!

Thanks for the laugh and hope you heal quickly! :)

I feel for you as I am a big clutz when it comes to stairs. Have broken it twice! it actually is probably the cause of some of the back issues I have now, a fall 15 years ago. I found it did not heal quickly, and was told there is not a good blood supply, although it is bone, so should have one. Maybe because they cannot do anything and you have to sit....Take it easy for a couple of weeks and it will slowly feel better.

I don't think i broke mine, but years ago I squatted down FAST to pick something up and right onto a Coke Bottle . And that sucker hit right on my tailbone. Didn't think anything could hurt like that!

A friend of mine broke hers years ago. She used a donut that she carried with her everywhere she went. She had a toddler at the time and he insisted on having a donut for himself so he could be like Mommy. They lived in a small town and she didn't drive so of course they walked everywhere. It was so cute to see them around town each with their donuts in tow.
