Bringing up the Rear Check-In

This morning I did Get Glutes and added on triceps pushups. So cold this morning at -9. I don’t want to be a crier but it is hard especially when the heat in my car does not work. Ok, I am gonna suck it up now and stop crying before my tears freeze to my face. :(:eek:

Carolyn I don’t think it would be overstepping your bounds by emailing Kate if that is an option. Let us know if you hear back from her.

Congrats on passing your test Julie! No heat in your car that's awful. How have you made it through this winter??

Now it's been two weeks since we've heard from Kate right? Jeez I hope she's okay.

No workouts so far this week; I was feeling better on Saturday and Sunday but now I'm not feeling that great again. I'm also really busy trying to get ready for our vacation next week; we're taking my son to Disney so no w/o's next week but a lot of walking. I can't wait to see his face he's going to be blown away! I also have to register him for kindergarten this week, they grow up so fast!

No workout this morning. This winter is really doing me in. I just am not motivated and feel like working out 4-5 times a week is all I can handle right now. I am going to just accept that and not beat myself up for not doing more.

Carolyn The air that comes out in my car is probably 30-40 degrees so it is warmer than the outside air and keeps my windshield from fogging. I do need to get it fixed but am such a procrastinator with things like that. Hope you find what workout suits your mood today!

Amanda I hope you get better for your trip. Disney is so awesome especially at your son’s age. He is going to have a blast and so will you just being with him. Rest up for your trip.

This morning I did Get Glutes work plus added on some additional upper body work. Is it Friday yet? I am so ready for the weekend.

Carolyn Thank you for giving me something to think about. It is true that I should be happy with 4 or 5 times a week as so many people don’t work out at all. I have toyed with the idea of working out at night but am not sure I am there yet.

I know what you mean Julie I'm really lacking in the motivation and have felt blah these last couple of weeks. But your lacking motivation is what most people only wish they could be motivated enough to do! So I would say you're doing pretty good!

Carolyn I hope your storm isn't too bad.

I had every intention of working out this week and planned what I would do each night....haven't felt like it or had the time. Gotta finish packing.

This morning I did Bootcamp. So happy Friday is here! Doing my happy dance! I am hoping the work day goes fast and the rest of the weekend goes S L O W.

Carolyn I have always been an early morning exerciser too. I was just thinking of trying afternoons to see if that would help with motivation. You know shake things up a bit. Hope your storm wasn’t too bad.

Amanda That is exactly what I have been feeling lately, blah! I am ready to get motivated again but just don’t have it in me. I can’t remember when you said you are leaving but I am so excited for your trip. You are going to have a wonderful time. Maybe you can bring some of Florida’s weather back home with you.

So Friday we got about 4 inches of snow during the day. Driving home was not the best since the roads were not cleared. Saturday I did XTrain Legs. I didn’t like it the first time I did it because it wasn’t heavy enough but now that I am doing heavy legs three times a week with Get Glutes, it is nice to throw this one in there. Sunday I did Get Glutes and extra back work. This morning I slept in! We are supposed to get another 3-5 inches of snow by this afternoon. 30 days to Spring!

This morning I did Get Glutes. So here is a funny story and a prime example of why you should not trust your math skills when lifting heavy. I started my workout with 3 sets of hip thrusts supersetted with 3 sets of 1-arm chest press. So far so good. My next superset started with squats and since I got up to 110 lbs. for 8 reps last week, I decided to start with that weight. Loaded up my bar, unracked it, started my set and by rep 2 I was thinking this weight seemed a lot heavier than last week. I kept going and stopped at rep 7. Feeling frustrated that I was weaker this week, I started to lighten the load when I noticed I had been lifting 120 lbs. not 110. I guess the bright side is that I was able to push myself to go heavier without knowing it.

Carolyn That stinks that you got interrupted twice during your workout. Guess that happens sometimes. I hope you got a better night’s sleep.

No workout or post yesterday. Was a very busy day at work and then I had to leave early to get some errands done. This morning I did Get Glutes. The last few days have felt like Spring it has been so wonderful. The temp yesterday was only in the 30s but compared to what we had been having it felt wonderful. This morning we had thunderstorms and we are supposed to get rain all day and be in the high 40s.

Carolyn Oh I am so sorry you enjoyed X54 but can’t do the step portion anymore. I didn’t really like the step portion of X10 but I like the premix that has low impact, circuit blast, and fat burning circuit. That one is fun and goes by fast. I love working my glutes 3 days a week. Last week I did 4 days of glute work and I swear my butt looks better this week than it ever has.

Last night it was so foggy driving home and there was a tornado warning for one of the counties nearby. Such weird weather for February. Our Spring-like weather lasted only 3 days. This morning woke up to a light dusting of snow and slick roads from the rain freezing on them overnight. I did do High Step Challenge but skipped the ab work at the end since I wanted to leave early given the roads. So happy it is Friday!!!

Carolyn I can understand wanting to be outside especially when the sun is out. You are getting quite the cardio and upper body workout with all the shoveling. I wouldn’t say my butt is smokin’ but I have definitely seen some changes. Now to just get rid of the cellulite.

Saturday I did XTrain Legs again. Now that I am working legs 3 times a week, I like adding this one in as a 4th leg workout. Then we ran some errands and visited my mom for a few hours. Sunday I did Get Glutes with additional back work and then did some work from home. This morning I did not workout. I had a terrible night’s sleep and I am not sure why. Other than maybe just being so excited about a whole new week of work!

Carolyn Our weather has gotten cold again. We are supposed to get another inch of snow tonight and then get down in the below zero windchills later this week. Oh that doesn’t sound good with your shoulders. I hope your shoulders and back are doing better today. I think doing hip thrusts or bridges at least 3 times a week has been what has really made a difference in my butt. But (pun intended) I also think I have genetics working for me a little bit. My family has always been known for their bubble butts.

This morning I did Get Glutes. I really felt it today and my butt is already talking back to me, in a good way. I did get better sleep last night which I think helped.

Carolyn I don’t have a cycle. I take constant birth control pills (same hormonal dose every day and no off week) so I have not had a cycle in years. I really don’t know why I trouble sleeping occasionally. Maybe due to work. I know sometimes I lay awake and just cannot shut my mind off. Of course, then I get even more frustrated and can’t sleep.

Hello!!!
We got back from our trip on Friday-I was totally exhausted. Disney is A LOT of walking and long days trying to get everything all in. We had a great time; Andrew loved meeting all his favorite characters and all the rides. The weather was perfect. I managed to not gain any weight ,yay! I was pretty careful most days about what I ate and indulged on the last day, the fruit was sooo good in Florida! This past weekend was full of laundry, cleaning, and sleeping! :) Even my dogs were tired from being boarded.

Today was my first day back at it and it was rough :( I did 4DS shoulders, calves and abs. I always feel like when I take a week or so rest my stamina goes right out the window and I feel the first few w/o's back are tough.

Supposed to be really cold again this week, high of -1 on Thursday can't wait...
Is this winter ever going to end?!?! Sounds like we've all had a rough one!

Looks like you two have been doing great with your w/os! I'm with Julie and I have a bubble butt too...it'd be nice if it was a little firmer and a little less cellulite! Gotta get back to those HTs and GBs.

No workout this morning. Took another rest day. It is getting cold again here and there are talks about another big snow storm over the weekend. The winter from h*** continues. Coincidentally, Spring is 3 weeks away today.

Carolyn Last night was another night when my powerful mind won the struggle of me versus sleep. Right now seems to be a very stressful time at work. Hopefully that ends this week or I might have to be committed for lack of sleep soon.

Amanda That is so great that you had a good time at Disney. Sorry you had to come back to this weather. It does seem like this winter is never ending. Yep I am right there with you needing to get rid of the cellulite and firm up.

This morning I did Get Glutes. I did it again where I loaded the barbell up 10 pounds heavier than I meant to and couldn’t figure out why it was so hard. I think my brain has frozen up with all this cold and snow.

Today I did Zuzka Cardio w/o 1. I thought I would mix it up some and try something different. I generally can't stay away from Cathe too long but I might try a month of her workouts. I got the cardio and strength series-there are 12 each and it was only $20 so we'll see.

The first one tonight was a time challenge you did 10 burpies in between each set of tuck jumps, jack kicks, kick ups and a few others I can't remember right now :p as fast as you can. It was a really fast w/o but I did break a sweat.

Felt like -20 this morning with the wind chill and we're supposed to get 10-20 inches of snow this weekend...oh joy.

This morning was Bootcamp. I had so much fun doing it a couple weeks ago I decided to do it again. We are bracing ourselves for another snow storm this weekend. I have heard anywhere from 4-8” or 10-12”. I am hoping for 0-0”.

Amanda I have heard of Zuzka but not seen or done any of her workouts. Would you say she is more intense than Cathe? From what I heard it is very intense and that scares me a little. Stay safe if you end up getting the storm this weekend.

Today I did Zuzka strength w/o 1, Zuzka ab bonus from the cardio series then I threw in Flex Train's firewalkers.

the strength w/o was another time challenge there were 4 moves that you did for various reps then repeated for a second set. it was short but tough warm up, w/o and cool down about 25 min. The ab bonus was killer again 4 different moves for various reps-the first move I could hardly even do :p I was swearing after 1 round so I'll work up to doing two rounds I can already feel I'll have DOMS. That one was only about 10 minutes.

It's a different style then Cathe so it's hard to say-Cathe has some pretty intense w/o. So far I've only done 3 of them I do like them it's kind of fun to do a time challenge. They are really short but pretty intense.

Julie did you do 4DS Bootcamp? That one is fun! Yep I'm right there with you were supposed to get 8"-12" of snow over this weekend.

This morning I did Z cardio #2-wow that was tough! This one was longer there were 7 exercises and it was a time challenge (I'm guessing they all are). The
6th exercise was 10 high jumps then jump back into plank repeat 60 times! I had to take a few breaks to catch my breath. I was drenched by the end and felt similar to having just completed 4-5 Cathe Tabatas. I'm definitely liking these!
