Cathlete
hello--

i just decided after reading many posts that i need to leave full body workouts and target specific groups--- i got cathe's gym style tapes at the library- but have been putting them off-- they are an hour each, right? i can't imagine doing legs or chest and back only for an hour straight--- do any of you get bored?

Yes, I despise weight work. I DO like cardio though. ;)

It depends on the workout, though I rarely get bored with weight work.

In GS, you can certainly skip over some exercises (there are more than enough chest and biceps exercises, IMO, so you can think of them as pick-and-choose rather than do-all).

I love these videos! And I really like weight training. I do not get bored at all, somehow each section seems to go by really fast, and then before I know it, we are on to the stretch.

The videos are legs, chest and tricep, and back, sholders and biceps. The chest/tricep video is closer to 50 minutes i think. And for the legs I only do the standing leg work, I really can't stand floor leg exercises of any kind, I tried the floor work from this video, but still not a fan.

But you'll never know until you try it. You have nothing to lose, and you might find out you really like these videos! :D

Hope you try them soon, let us know how you like them when you do.

I like weight work too, so no...I don't get bored. I just think about the muscles I want to build. Plus, we should concentrate on form and getting the most out of each exercise. I'm always watching my alignment or evaluating if I need to go up, down or stay with the same amount of weight for the next set.

With all that thinking going on, time flies.

Well, I put off getting more serious about weight training because I thought it would be boring also, especially compared to cardio and all the variation one can have there. But I was surprised when I started doing Cathe's weight workouts ... I'm not bored. The time passes very quickly -- I think due to the variations in the moves and because of how hard I work. It actually requires concentration. You might be surprised too!

>so--- do you avg an hour for splits?

I average 45-60 minutes for splits and no, I rarely get bored. Although you exercise the same muscles, you'll do different exercises with different counts to switch things up. Love the splits.

for upper body, it's usually about 45-60 minutes. for lower body it's often longer ... GSL and B&G are longer than an hour if you do the whole thing ... many people shorten them up to about an hour.

I never get bored with weight work. I've found that Cathe's weight training workouts go by faster than her cardio workouts. They are just so intense that you have to remain so focused that you lose track of time. Suddenly, it's been 30 minutes and you're like, WOW! And then before you know it, the workout's over!

The GS's are a great place to start for weight work on separate body parts.

As a sidenote: After splitting my weight work out into separate body parts each day, I find it VERY difficult to consider doing an all-over body weight workout. I just don't feel like I'm accomplishing anything with total body workouts...but I FEEEEEL it when I focus on 1-2 parts each workout.
