Bollinger Super Step

Hi. I would like to buy the grey step used as a weight bench in the Slow & Heavy series, but I can't find it anywhere. I've found bits and pieces of information from searching this site, but since I'm new here, maybe I'm doing something wrong? One thread said it would be available at Modell's online last year, but I searched their site, and they don't seem to carry it. Did this thing die a quick death, or is it available somewhere, and I just haven't found it yet? Thanks!

Hi Melissa,

I just purchased one of those. First of all, it takes nearly 4weeks for delivery. Go to buyfitnessstuff.com and you will see it there. Happy steppin'

Thank you, both, for the information! It seems the price has gone up--$104.00 + $17.95 s/h--but I really want it, so I'm willing to pay it. I appreciate your help. :)

I have to admit I have been intrigued by that step which Cathe uses in Slow and Heavy.

I purchased extra risers for my regular step and have been using it for weights as well as stepping. I have enough risers to do the weight work as Cathe does in Pure Strength.

I am wondering if getting the Super Step has any particular advantages. My work out space is limited but I would consider getting this piece of equipment if someone could tell me why I need it. Come on, guys, give me an excuse to buy it.

So, does the Bollinger Step provide anything that my regular step does not?

Thanks.

Marlene

This step is longer so you can lay on it for strength work and fit your feet up there, too. I would say that is the only advantage over a regualr step.
The disadvantages are that it is meant only for strength work, not stepping, since it is too long; and the heights it adjusts to are odd (I think 5 1/2 inches with no risers, and then it jumps to 10 inches with one riser). It also looks pretty bulky, which would make it difficult to store, possibly.
I don't have the step, and I may be off on these facts--just going by what I remember from when Cathe origianally posted the pictures of her latest videos...

Good reasons for buying the "super step"....

Hi Marlene,

It took me a day, but I came up with several "reasonable" reasons why you could justify purchasing the super step. :)

1. stacking the 5" risers by themselves make a perfect stool for sit-n-stand squats. Also just for use as a stool when your step is not needed, such as in PS-L&A.

2. it really is great for incline work

3. the base is 5.5" and can technically be used for a step (maybe on a day when you're not quite "feeling" 6", but don't want to go down to 4) (okay~I'm reaching now :))

4. I've also heard other's comment on using the risers for "tall box" work.

I have both steps, and I really like the super step for weight work, and since weight work is a major part of whatever rotation I'm doing, I think it was a logical purchase. And I just shove the step under my bed, and stack the risers in the closet.

RE: Good reasons for buying the "super step"....

You know, I was doing Karen Voight's Cardio|Strength a few weeks ago for the first time, and I noticed she was only using the base (of the Super Step) so I just used the base of my normal step company step (4"). I thought it was odd that no risers were used (because I had no idea the SS was taller! I know, I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box). Now it all makes sense. *smacking forehead*

But one question -- so the base is 5.5, and it's 10" with one set of risers, right? But how high does the bench go with 2 sets of risers? I'm curious because I'm sick of feeling like I'm stuck on the floor doing weight work on my normal bench set to 8". Does it go to 14.5" or what? I'm curious because I was considering buying more risers for my step co step to use it as a tallbox, but maybe this new step would be the better option. If it came to 14.5" that might be an ideal tallbox for me considering I'm tall-ish and long legged.

RE: Good reasons for buying the "super step"....

Hi,

The heights are:
step~5.5" and each riser~5"

so you have the options of: 5.5"/10.5"/15.5"
