Bodybuilding/Sculpting check-in;-)

Today I did Tabatacise and Core 1. This workout makes me happy...is that weird? Haha! I had an unusually stressful day at work, and all I could think about was getting home to sweat it out with this workout. Does the trick every time!

Nathalie and Jen, enjoy your STS rotations! You know, I have STS, yet I've never done it. The 1RM testing and the length of some of the workouts has scared me off up to thIs point. Some day I will tackle it.

Svetlana, I love the RWH weight workouts! I think Jen is right...they are the most challenging. I hope you enjoy the Suzanne Bowen workouts. I have Gorgeous Core but only liked a couple of the segments on the DVD. Most of the ab work was not very hard at all. Too funny about the bug...now I want to get the DVD out to look for it!

Tom, keep at it with the deadlifts. Practice makes perfect!

I have some serious glute DOMS from yesterday! SCORE! :D This morning was Ultimatum Blue workout + Butt Bible Level 1 Lower. Planned doubles is EBE2 Peak Cardio.

And Jodi--No, not weird at all! I love Tabatacise. More than any other workout I own, that is the one I revisit the most. In fact, I have that exact same workout scheduled for Friday! Tabatascise Premix 5.

Nathalie--I don't have 6 months mapped out. Only 15 weeks of STS. I can't even decide how/when I want to fit in ICE. As a recovery week? Or as a long (2 week) recovery after I finish STS but b4 I start the next thing? I really like the recovery weeks I have mapped out during STS, so I am not sure I want to change those (EFX/PiYo/Mobility RX/BodyFit 360).

Slow and Heavy is a good idea, too. I really enjoy those workouts. I just don't know yet. And I'm still waiting for Beachbody to release Hammer & Chisel. I'll figure out what I'm going to do when the time gets closer. Probably during Meso 3!

Svetlana--glad I could motivate! It has been so long since I've done the Pure Strength workouts in Peak Fit that I had forgotten what an awesome workout PS2 is--and that band! It makes some moves killer! Why did you previously blacklist them?

Hi Everyone,

Just posting a vid on Lower body training. It is from Jessie Hilgenberg. I like Jessie, she is thorough in her pointers:):)

Watching this has made me decide to pull out my rack more often! I have not actually used it since last years!
I can actually use it to safely do some heavy hip thrust without a spotter! I should have thought about this earlier.:eek::eek:
The part of the video explaining about the use of the rack is from 6:00

Tom I think you may need to view the video too. Jessie is really good explaining techniques.
Romanian DL is part of the vid too. The only detail i would add is to keep the bar closer to the tighs.
Jessie does not keep it as close as I do. Well cathe does keep the bar very close to the tighs.
For me personnally the closer I keep the bar to my thighs better I keep my form and concentration.
HTH.;);)

Today was overhead press tricep pushups and chin ups. I raised ohp 5# and did 2 drop sets between 1x3s and 1x8s I have been nursing sore bicep tendons so cleaning the bar to position was sore but this lift is easier on my shoulders since using an ez curl bar rather than Olympic! But now I cant use my rack and must clean it to position...o well good with bad!! Nathalie I agree, she needs to move the bar in! If she was using a heavy weight she risks back injury. but a good video...thanks!!

This morning was STS #2 Back & Triceps and I am feeling them! I love that feeling where afterward I can feel the delineation of every muscle I just worked. Planned doubles is Butt Bible Level 2 Lower.

That's a great video Nathalie. I don't have time to watch the entire thing right now, but I went straight to those hip thrusts! I could easily set my own rack and bench up to do that. I know I couldn't do a 100 like that, but that is definitely something I will work toward. Since I am doing the 100 rep hip thrusts every week during Meso 1 and 2, I planned to increase my barbell weight as I went a long--that method would be a great way to continue it into Meso 3. In fact, I think I will do that. Go really heavy in Meso 3, using Jessie's method and do 4 sets of 12-15. Thanks for that awesome idea!

Yesterday I did Ballet Beautiful: Body Blast. The instructor trained Natalie Portman in the movie "Black Swan". This was another one recommended by Amazon and it got lots of great reviews. Not sure I agree with the reviews...there is so much not to like about the workout. There are four 15-minute segments and you can do them all together, but there is no warm-up or cool down. It seems she intended them to each be a stand-alone quick workout, and a couple of them would be good as add-ons. One segment is called Swan Arms, and you basically wave your arms around at all different angles the whole time. Yes, my arms were burning a bit from having to hold them up for so long, but the whole thing just felt silly. There is a Total Body segment which has a few moves each for abs, arms and legs...nothing special or difficult about this one. The other two segments are Butt Series #1 and #2. This is where the torture is and I would use these again. Both segments are done on your hands and knees, and you do endless variations of leg lifts. My butt and hamstrings were cramping by the end, and I'm feeling it this morning. Oh well, at least I didn't pay much for the DVD!

Today's workout will be RWH Chest, Triceps and Shoulders again. Can't wait!

Hi everyone,

I learned something interesting. Platform Purple sells Kelly Coffey-Meyer's downloads (and Amy Dixon's)
But the workouts play only using the Purple software. And I need to acknowledge I'm informed that I don't own the video, only "the right to use it". If the contract between KCM and the Purple people expires, the video will be removed from my computer .
I ended up ordering Kelly's Trim Down DVD through Amazon UK. I prefer to own the workouts I pay for. I will get Cardio / Pump when the price goes down :)
I'm happy Cathe sells her workouts!

Nathalie - Thank for the link. The Bodybuilding website has some article about a 95 year old bodybuilder. Wow! I will read it after posting ;)
From now on, Tslop you are not allowed to say you are old ;)
Jodi - today I did the Glutes section from Barre Amped and the Physique segment from Gorgeous Core. I preferred GC better :) But then, I love to work my abs. Suzanne is definitely a nice instructor.
Jen - I'm very capricious about strength training . Michelle's "hyper" attitude in her Peak Fit series gave me reason enough to abandon Pure Strength 1 & 2 . But I continued using the Peak Fit cardio workouts ;).
Luckily I found a way to work muscles hard: I do several individual muscle group segments from different workouts (6-15 minutes each). I end up spending enough time to completely exhaust the muscles :) The 10-minute Pure Strength segments fit well.
Colleen, Mary, Sarbear, Healing 11 - how are you girls?

Here is what I did fitness-wise since my last post
Wednesday - the first halves from Jari Love's Revved To The Max and BootCamp. Doubles - KCM StepBoxing and the HiLo only from Cathe's Step, Pump and Jump. This one has great music & moves and makes me happy!
Yesterday - Party Rocking Step 2 Doubles - X10 Cardio Blast and KCM's Your Best Body w/o 2.
Today I did Hiit: Double Wave Pyramid and then worked my back with the segments from Gym Styles BSB, STS Total Body and Power Hour. My doubles was the standing section from Cathe's Lower Body Blast & the shoulder segments from High Reps and Muscle Max.

I wish you all a nice weekend!

Today was squats, reverse lunges, and hanging knee raises. Next week will be a deload week using lighter weights (70%). I added 10# to squats 5x3 and 5# to reverse lunges. Svetlana...I will stop feeling sorry for myself after hearing about the 95 year old bodybuilder!!!

Today was another new barre workout...Pure Barre Pure Results Feature Focus: Thighs. Another instant favorite from Pure Barre! These folks really know how to do barre work right. My legs were shaking so much, and there was an emphasis on inner thigh work which I really need. Great stuff! And just to fry my legs completely, I added on the Leg Conditioning Drills segment from Kick Max. I ended up doing the stretch as well since it came on right after. Turned out to be a really great lower body focused stretch and felt great.

Today is deload week of phase 2, It calls for 70% of you previous weight on the heavy lifts for 3x3, but in my infinite wisdom, I decided to do some long sets instead. I dropped the bench to 135# and did a long set of 20 (this was better than I did on my initial sts testing 2 years ago where I did 6! When I was through with meso 3 however I had actually improved my 1rm by 90# which was crazy, and I was able to do over 200# for as many reps as I could initially do 135#. I dropped the curl weight on barbell curls to 80# and did sets of 1x 16 and 1x 8. Next week will be 4x10 again on curls and initially I used 80# in phase 1 , during phase 2 I was up to 90# for 5x8, and I will try to use 95# during phase 3 for 4x10.
I finished with suspended push ups 1x8 1x12 1x12. I think I will do some of this long set stuff during deload week with squats and pull ups ( except for deadlift because I think that may be potentially injurious) Hope all you Yanks have a great Labor day and our UK and European friends a great equivalent!!!

Hi Everyone,

Happy labor day to all! Have not had a chance to catch up with your posts but will do tomorrow.

I am quickly reporting today's leg day: 50 full goblet squat, Cardio was RwH plyo Hiit 2 in the morning.
Evening I did leg and shoulders from Slow and Heavy --- Loved it---It was a great workout.
I love combining a 30 minutes or less plyo to heavy leg session on the same day.
It is the way I like to pre-exhaust leg muscles. Evening my muscles were all activated and I felt
each reps. I pulled out my rack and now decided to use it everytime I do S&H.

More check in tomorrow. 11 pm here time to snooze buddies.

Wish you a good week:)

Today was deadlifts 3x3 at 70% of last week and I finished with a set of 10 of Romanian deadlifts dropping the weight 50# glute bridges 5x10 at deadlift weight and ab wheel roll outs 25x15x10. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Jodi, Jen and I were already keeping track of the weight load for each lifting program before trying out STS.
When I started working out cathe from power hour:p, I spontaneously, started writting down content of each dvds and the weight
load on a sheet of paper and enclosed it in each dvd cover....

Before embarking on STS, I had a plan. Completing 4ds, GS and STS Total as prep:):):)
This was my plan and it worked in getting my one rep max ready. It has also helped in facing
the intensity of the program:)

Feel the best for yourself Tom---Age is just a number.
Do your grown up children workout?

Hey Svetlana,

I love Lower Body Blast.
Double wave pyramid is a tough workout ---Very well done:):)
It seems like Jen's enthusiasm for doubles is infectious.

Jen Lol look what you have done:p:D

Today was RWH Back, Biceps and Shoulders again. Just love this workout! I tried using a heavier band for the finishers, but it only worked well with some of the exercises. For some of them, such as the T pulls, I couldn't pull it hard enough to make a difference. Something to remember for next time!

Nathalie, if I asked my hubby for help with the bra, I would probably never get dressed!

Sorry Jodi I have just read your comment to my suggestion Lol...

hmmm Well what would all that barre and cathe's hard work be helpful for if you are hesitant
to ask for help LOL--- I have no doubt you can handle that:p:D

Nathalie, you make a good point! I also keep track of my weights for every DVD I do so that is a start for the 1RM. Also, I plan to do Burn Sets again soon so that will help me with determining the right weights at least for upper body. I don't know why I let STS scare me so much!
