Blood Pressure

I have always been told I have blood pressure on the lower side but never thought much about it. Since I have been pregnant I have been checking it daily. The norm is about 95/60. Today it was 90/55. Thats seems extremely low to me. I am not dizzy, tired etc.
I was just curious if anyone had normally low blood pressure.

Hi Susan - I've always had freakishly low BP (sometimes similar numbers to yours). My mom always has, too, and it's never been a problem for either of us. :)

Susan--Mine always was very low, even during my pregnancies. And I gained waaaay too much weight and was super sedentary during that time! I think that some people just have low bp. I'd just mention it to your OB next time you go in so she'll know. It's something for them to keep in mind especially if you get an epidural when you deliver. The two times I had an epidural (my second child I had a spinal), my BP really nose dived and they had to give me meds to bring it back up. So I think it's good for them to keep note if you're experiencing super low BP.

Hi Susan!

My blood pressure is normally around 98/65ish and I feel fine, but there are times when it drops to 77/60 and that's when I'm dizzy, nauseous....so if you aren't having a problem with it, then it's a great thing that it's low instead of high!!

Thanks for all the repsonses..I really appreciate you taking the time.
Stephanie-I didnt have an epidural with dd because I had heard about problems with low pb. Thats scary! Guess I will try and make it through this labor too.

Mine runs lowish, too. When I had DS, they gave me the epidural and my blood pressure nosed dived and I turned white as a sheet and told them I was gonna pass out!!! They had to dial the epidural back a bit.

Nan

Ditto! I have a low BP also. Sometimes it even takes the nurse/tech a couple of tries before she can get a reading!

Thanks. I feel better knowing I am "normal" for having low bp. I will have to let my obgyn know about it. No epidural for me!

I have orthostatic hypertension (hypotension?)- my blood pressure is normal most of the time, but if I move from horizontal to vertical too quickly, my blood pressure can drop 40 points in a second or two. It is very uncomfortable, but not actually dangerous, to my knowledge. It mostly makes me very dizzy.

A friend of mine has freakishly low BP and Blood sugar...we were at a health fair and they asked her if she needed to lay down, but she was just fine!

I just read in my Babycenter newsletter that in this trimester BP is lower than usual...so I figured out what is going on. Thanks to all that have commented!
