I'm already making my plans--serious start of STS on Mon. Jan. 5th--the day my kids go back to school after the Christmas break. Woot! :D

Not quite sure how you read my post Autumn as anything other than excitement and curiosity if we each would have responded to the earlier Christmas thread differently?

i'M sorry Amy I was not attacking you. My mistake, I thought you were talking about a differant thread over in the STS forum. It just got a little tense over there and Christmas was mentioned etc. that's where I got confused.:confused: Sorry. but either way I didn't mean any harm to anyone.:)

I;ve been seeing a lot of owl-y comments in a lot of different threads lately. What's up with that?

Um, she was making a joke.

Again , sorry I thought another thread was being referred to and again I was not attacking her. In another thread Christmas was mentioned etc. and thats the thread I thought was being referred to which is why i said ppl were just excited to get STS and a lot of ppl kind of attacked SNM so much that SNM had to respond. the whole thread just kind of took a bad turn.

As for the owl-y comment, that was referring to the "economy thread" where some members kind of went head to head and the thread about new members should not post repetitive subjects. These are just 2 that come to mind right now.

I just wish ppl would ease up and get along and respect each other. We're all here for information, commaraderie,(sp?) and we all share a common interest. I'm kind of thinking about going back to lurkdom-much safer. Gosh I just feel whipped.:(

How long do we have to lurk before we "newbies" are welcome to post?

Wow, I didn't see anything in this thread that should make you feel you aren't safe to post? All Amy was saying was that what you posted was such GOOD NEWS that if people had heard it earlier they wouldn't have been such grouches on the Christmas thread. I was one of those grouches she was referring too! ;) I'm just not in to Christmas this year. Amy was totally supporting and agreeing with your post, so no reason to feel whipped. There was just some mild confusion as to why you reacted to her post the way you did and it totally makes sense now that you explained it. Everyone is getting along on this thread, so let's not drag other not so happy thread topics into this one. :)

I was just sitting here thinking about all the little sayings that my mom and Grandma used to say . And it reminded me of the generation gap. Here's a funny story.

My mom and aunt went to the casino. afterwards they went to one of the fast food places to eat. Thier order was taken by a young kid. What they ordered was not ready so the manager told them he would bring it out to them. So they went around the corner aisle and sat down and waited and waited and waited. Pretty soon the young kid came along and saw them and asked them have'nt they received thier food yet? My mom said no they hadn't. Well the young kid started raving how the BOSS had forgotten them and just went on and on about the BOSS made a mistake and forgot a customer etc. Finally my mom said "we'll just have to whip him with a wet noodle" The youngster came UNGLUED! He called my mom a dirty old women etc. and just kept going on and on about so what a dirty minded old women she was , that a women at another table went and got the manager and complained about him. Needless to say thier meal was free.
But my mom had no idea what had happened and was mortified when i expained to her what a "wet noodle" was to a teenager. And I OTOH had to have the expression "whip him with a wet noodle" meant!! lol

Anyway just thinking about old sayings and such.

Yes, exactly...Owl-y, cross, grouchy, snippy. no ones ever heard that before? Must be my moms generation. She would say that all the time.

OMG, I'm turning into my mother.

Tami

thanks tami and dbelden1 for the def of "owl-y"
;)
That's funny -- you are turning into your mom! :D;)

I'm totally turning into my mom and have been for years. Drives me crazy!!

I really didn't understand why she always said that I made her cold just looking at me... until I said it the other week.   Most of her other terms I use are actually what she used to say to me in an endearing way, like calling me "babesie" or stuff like that. :) I can't think of sayings she uses that don't make sense to me, though! LOL on your wet noodle story.

(And Tami I should have said it was those people who called themselves scrooges that I expect may think of the season this year a bit differently! Who can be a scrooge when it comes to a huge series like STS??! :p)

Ppl are just excited that's all, gosh I know I am. I can't wait to get these:D.

Autumn Whisper, have you had your coffee yet? It appears to me that Amy was making a bit of joke. BTW, what is owl-y? I immediately think of an owl with big glasses perched on a tree limb with a book.;)

My bad, I didn't take the time to read above ( I need MY coffee!) but I must tell you that I am offended. Owls are not grouchy creatures (unlike some of the people on these forums...HAA HAAAAAAAAA HAAAA!) Sorry, couldn't resist making a bad joke
