Beware of new computer virus using FedX in the subject line

I just heard tonight that someone opened up an email from FedX. The subject line said something to the effect that they couldn't deliver a package and needed to confirm the shipping address. She opened the email and there was a link stating to click here to get the phone number to call (which she did) and her entire hard drive was wiped out and can't be restored. With the holiday season upon us, people may not think twice about opening up this email. FedX has said that they've been getting many calls about this so the virus is spreading quickly. If you get an email from them, you can call FedX directly to see why and if it was truly them that needed to contact you. Please pass this along to anyone you know and hopefully this problem will be aborted quickly.

I just don't understand the whole 'virus' thing. It just doesn't make sense that some people get their kicks out of making people they don't even know miserable. It must take a lot of time to create the virus.....can't they use their time to perhaps cure cancer or something???

I agree. If they don't know what to do with all of their frustrations, then they should just do a Cathe workout. That'll cure whatever ails their insides!

I have gotten that email in my spam a few times but never opened it as I knew I had no packages en route via FedEx. Lucky.

I am wary of "links" like that so usually will avoid them unless it's for something I have just requested like changing a password, etc. When I get things like this I will just open my web browser and go direct to the website myself and navigate from there to avoid any possibility of a phishing scam, hacking, viruses, etc.

I've been getting those emails for at least a year now. I don't open them because they are obviously not from Fedex. The headers are always something like, "We had fail to deliver you fedexpackage." I also get ones that say DHL, UPS and USPS. I have never had any of those companies contact me because they couldn't deliver a package. I'd be lucky to get a note on my door, but a personal email? Forget it.

Angie, most virii are not designed to annoy individual users. Most commonly, they're an attack on a network or intended to steal information.

I got that email in my "junk box" I knew I didn't have anything from FEDEX so I just deleted it THANK GOODNESS!!!! Its amazing how people can just be so mean.
