Best DVDs for muscle building/weight training

I just came from getting my body fat % done. According to the chart I am obese, 32%:( . I love doing cardio, walking, biking and eliptical. Which I do 5-6 times a week for about 45-60min. I was told I need to add in weight training to gain muscle and lose weight. I am 37, 5'3", 150lbs, and gain weight recently from being 16 weeks pregnant and having a miscarriage. Prior to being pregnant I was 133lbs. Any one have ideas for the best weight training Cathe DVDs.

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

Any of Cathe's weight training tapes will help you. Personally, I love the Slow and Heavy series AND her newer Gym Styles. Both of those series have given me definition and I tend to have a difficult time gaining muscle. Also, the Slow and Heavy series REALLY emphasizes good form, so it's a nice place to start.

Best of luck to you. Remember...just keep at it and you'll reach your goals.

I completely agree with above poster. The Slow and Heavy series is meant to be used for three weeks at a time, so if you're able to, get the Gym Styles to alternate with. The Pure Strength series is great as well ~ it's just a bit older and looks sort of dated.

luv2tri...you're already doing great with the variety of cardio you are doing. I too like the Gym Style series the best. You may also want to consider adding one or two of Cathe's total body workouts. There is a post at the top of this forum that rates all of Cathe's workouts (degree of difficulty) and they are broken down into categories. A very useful reference to have.

Muscle Endurance (ME) and Max Intensity Strength (MIS) are also good strength training workouts.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Also thanks for reminding me about the ratings for Cathe's workouts. It is very helpful.
