Beginner Rotation - starting Monday, August 15, 2011

Checkin.......Still working on my 100oz of water.

Went to Walmart for lunch and got a DVD player and Universal Remote to go with the FREE 27' TV in the garage. Since I have a 3 day weekend coming up, I am going to hookup the DVD player to the TV.

Saturday we are schedule to do Upper and Lower Body. Instead, I am going to try my hand at Body Fusion, in the Garage if it is not to hot. I veiwed Kick Max and Body Fusion yesterday, both of them look difficult. I would like to get the flow of this routine before we acutally start it in the next couple weeks. This will save me time since I will be doing it before work. Body Fusion Format: warm up 6min, step combo one 8 min., weight segment one 4 min., step combo two 10 min., weight segment two 4 min., step combo three 9 min., weight segment three 6 min., Stretch 3 min., Total = 50 min. The Rotation states twice a week, maybe it won't be that bad, but it does look hard.

Fri: Basic Step plus Abdominal routine add on & WATER :)

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER. I pray that I am able to keep it up, because I would love to see the transformation after 3 months.

You are doing great... you have been so dedicated doing this every morning before work. That takes tremendous drive and will power. Good for you !!!

That's exciting to be able to get your new workout area all set up in the garage. I'm jealous !!!

I've watched Body Fusion a couple of times... just watched it while sitting comfortably in my chair :cool: It looks challenging for sure... but we will get there..

I'll be around all weekend and will be doing my workouts and posting.

Cyndi - Have a wonderful trip. We'll see you back here on Tuesday with a full report I hope. In the meantime, Deanna and I will keep trudging along. One step at a time... one bicep curl at a time... one lunge at a time :D

I think you'd have fun doing body fusion, even if you have to modify a little. Just about anytime I am learning a workout, the intensity is a little lower anyway.

Susan, Cyndi and FaithnVeggies again I would like to thank you ladies for your encouragement, you ladies are a blessing. :)

Friday morning check in - Just completed Basic Step, Abs and Stretch, currently working on 64oz of water before work. The Abdominal Add on was a killer this morning. Looking at the Rotation, we are working our Abs once a week (not good).

Basic Step is starting to become boring. I look forward to trying my hand at Body Fusion Friday 9.3.11.

Ladies, did you weigh and measure yourselves on 8.22.11 when we started our routine? If so, how often would you suggest we at least weigh ourselves? Me personally, I do not like the scale however I can see and feel a difference in my body.

Susan - I like the site eatingwell.com. The site seems to offer everything I want, a diet plan between 1200 - 1800 calories, it also offer a Grocery list........Thank you

Cyndi - enjoy your weekend get away with your family, we look forward to hearing all about your trip.

FaithnVeggies - you seem to be the quite one of the bunch. However, when you chime in your words are very positive, informative and encouraging.....We all appreciate your Wisdom.

OH MY GOD, THE ICE POLICE AT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS LADY DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO WITH HER TIME OTHER THAN COMPLAINING ABOUT PEOPLE USING THE ICE. GIVE ME A BREAK!

THERE ARE 3 PEOPLE INCLUDING MYSELF THAT HAVE THE 100OZ CONTAINERS. SO AFTER EVERYONE LEFT WORK YESTERDAY, THIS CONTROLLING LADY PUT A SIGN UP ON THE REFRIGERATOR DOOR THAT STATES. "STAFF WITH LARGE WATER JUGGS, PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE OF OTHERS AND NOT USE ALL THE ICE." GIVE ME A BREAK!

She had been complaining so much about the Ice over the last 2 weeks or so. I told myself lastnight I would just stop off at the Convenience Store/Gas Station where I purchased the container from on my way to work and get FREE ICE. Jesus.

Way to go Deanna !!! Great job on your workout this morning !!! I know you are excited about having the long weekend to set up your workout area in the garage with your new TV and DVD player. You are going to be all set to go full speed ahead !! Fantastic !!

Faithnveggies - always good to see you. Pop in more often !! We need all the wisdom and encouragement we can get....

Deanna - I weighed myself on 8-22-11. My plan is to weigh myself every Monday morning before breakfast. I don't want to get on the scale more than once a week because of the fluctuations that we all know happen. One can go up and down a pound a day, so I think once a week is good for me. I do need/want to lose 45 pounds :eek: so I do want to watch my progress on the scale, but more important is how I feel and how my clothes fit.

So far, I don't see much difference in my body.... but I've only been good about what I'm eating this week... so that's only 4 days so far..... but I do notice a big difference in my energy level so that's great....

I actually gained a pound the first week... uh oh.... cause I was stuffing myself as a reward for doing the workouts every day. That's what made me get serious this week about what I'm eating. So my starting weight is going to be from Monday the 29th....

I look forward to hearing how you like Body Fusion. I may try Low Impact Step one day next week instead of Basic Step... just for a change.

We can do this !!! We ARE doing this !!!! Go team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Total fat < 48 grams .............Actual: 43.5 grams
Saturated fat < 12.5 grams ....Actual: 8.6 grams

60 oz of water - 50 oz

Cathe workout - I did 3 miles on the treadmill at the gym and one section of Stretch Max.

I'm going to do today's workout mid-afternoon. Need to do some housecleaning and errands first.....

I'll check in later... Deanna, stay calm..... don't let the Ice Police disturb your tranquility...... She's an idiot and you can't cure idiots....

My goal for weight loss is slow and steady.

It took me 10 years to put on this excess 45 pounds and I don't want to lose it too quickly then put it all right back on. So slow and steady is the word.

If I can lose 2 or 3 pounds per MONTH, I'll be happy. That would be 24 - 36 pounds in one year.

I want to eat good healthy food in moderate portions and exercise daily and get back to the healthy lifestyle that I used to have....... If I do that, the weight will come off gradually.

Just as long as the trend is downwards, I'll be happy :D

:) That is right Susan, that is what I would say. :)

Think about how the Ice Police was trying to keep me from drinking my water today! lol
However in spite of the Ice Police I met my 100oz. My problem is, am I going to be able to keep up this 6 day Rotation? I am not sore anymore however, I am losing interest in exercising 6 days per week. But I keep hearing Susan in my ear saying Deanna you can do it, you are doing it. :)

Okay I am going to attempt Body Fusion tomorrow, maybe it will motivate me.

Hi Ladies!
I haven't posted here regularly since I am not following the beginner rotation.
Right now my w/o goals are to:

*work out daily (maybe 1 day off)---mostly keeping it to 45-30 minutes!

*Work each body part 1 to 2x week (either 1-2 parts/day or total body w/o)

*Keep a variety of workouts going but definitely utilize intensity blasts/Hiits. I think that they significantly increase fitness and decrease fat.

*Become familiar w/ my Cathe workouts I already have but have previously ignored so I can stick with my faves.

Diet: lose 20 pds and gain lean muscle mass. I am a lifetime WW and use those tools of portion control and choose low fat foods, eat veggies and fruit, include fiber.

I can stick w/ workouts, but the snack monstie kicks my butt.

Deanna, where is the lack of interest? boredom with w/o? not enough Time? Want more dramatic results? Frustration w/ learning actual workout? Making it a routine part of your life?

Just asking...

For me, fitness needs to be a routine, matter of fact, part of the REST OF MY LIFE and that is where I run into trouble....mentally negotiating where/when/how I am going to workout that day. I do it, but it seems like I shouldn't procrastinate so much.

Faithnveggies - those are good questions. Deanna - do you know what the problem is? I know it is difficult to work out before work in the mornings, but you were/are doing so well.

For me... I have found in the past that the key is to exercise every day. The more I exercise, the better I feel and that makes me want to exercise even more. If I stop for even one day, it becomes too tempting to lapse back into my non-exercising existence and I don't want that.

When I exercise every day, I have so much more energy to do other things and... my mental outlook on life is so much better. So, for me, I like what exercising gives me - physically and mentally.

If I get into that routine of exercising every day, it becomes a habit - something I just do and I don't even have to think about it.

But I have a friend from out-of-state who comes to visit me for 2 weeks every year and she's not an exercise-type person so I don't exercise for those 2 weeks. After she leaves, it is sooooo difficult for me to get back into my exercise routine. I really struggle with it every year.

So for me.... I have to do it every day... no matter what. And the more I exercise, the more I enjoy it and look forward to my exercise time.

I am going to mix things up this week. I'm bored with Basic Step and I don't like the Upper and Lower Body Add-ons because I don't like the tubing.

sooooooo :cool: this week... when it calls for Basic Step, I'm either going to go to the gym and do treadmill or elliptical instead ... or... I'll try Low Impact Step for a change of pace.

And when we are supposed to do Upper Body and/or Lower Body, I'm going to try Total Body Sculpting instead.

Hey !!! What can I say.... I'm a rebel :p but I'll do Basic Step .. maybe once.... and I'll still do the Abs and Stretching when they are on the schedule.

My feeling is... substitutions are fine as long as we stick with the "theory."

If the schedule calls for cardio.... it doesn't matter "what" cardio you do... as long as you do cardio.

Same for Upper Body weight work or Lower Body weight work or Abs or stretching.

I'm going to do what we are supposed to do, when we are supposed to do it..... but will change up the DVDs that I use......

Deanna - hopefully, getting your new workout room set up in the garage will re-inspire you !!!!

We ARE doing this!!!!!!!!! We shall continue to do this !!!!

It sounds like you've got a good plan !!!!

I was thinking about what my plan is going to look like after we finish the Beginner Rotation.

I'll probably do Cardio 3X per week
Upper Body 2 X per week
Lower Body 2 X per week
do stretching after Lower/Upper Body
and I need to fit abs in there twice a week ... somewhere..

I'll figure it out once we get there :)

Deanna - can't wait for your report on the progress of getting your garage set up. Have fun !!!! That's soooo exciting !!!
 
Ladies, you are wonderful and oh so very thoughtful and I appreciate your encouraging words. :)

I am not going to quit on myself or my wonderful workout buddies Susan and Lovetocamp. And oh how I look forward to the advice from Faithnveggies.

I am just getting bored with Basic Step, been doing it on and off since 2007/2008. I have never made it through the 3 month Beginner Rotation. Then again I did not have workout buddies. I read something recenlty that said if you have a workout buddy, you are more likely to succeed (accountability). It makes it easier when I have someone in my corner like SUSAN, LOVETOCAMP AND FAITHNVEGGIES. I feel like you ladies are right there with me, encouraging me every STEP (lol) of the way, and I am there for you as well. I look forward to posting my exercise experience as well as reading yours.

My exercise area in the garage is up and running. :) A little to warm outside so I am going to workout later today and Sunday morning.

Slow start on my Water today, but you know me I am going to get 100oz down. :)

I will post after I ATTEMPT (lol) Body Fusion.

That's the spirit Deanna !!!!!! Way to go...

How exciting to have your workout area all set up. I'm sure you are thrilled. It shouldn't be too too long before it cools off enough in Vegas to do your workouts out there....although I remember one of only 2 times I've been to Vegas... once was in August... egads it was hot... the other time was in early November and it was warm enough to swim in the outside pool of the hotel... lol Of course, that was 20 years ago... I think it's gotten even hotter out there since then.

well.... I just finished Total Body Sculpting.... whew !! Ya know... some of these DVDs don't look that difficult when you watch them from the comfort of your chair :p, but when you actually TRY them... well... different story.

Total Body Sculpting is only 27 minutes and I had to pause and rest twice... lol.
THAT shows why I need to be doing this program.......

But I did it (not as many reps as Cathe, but I did do it) and I like it. I think I'll go back to our regular upper and lower body workouts during the week and try Total Body Sculpting again next Saturday after I've built up some more strength.

Deanna - I agree about Basic Step getting boring and I've only been doing it for a couple of weeks. I'm going to try Low Impact Step a couple of time this week when we are supposed to do Basic Step.

Can't wait to hear how you like Body Fusion !!!!!

Lesson learned..... do not buy a package of chocolate cupcakes thinking that I can eat one or two a week as a treat..... it just doesn't work out well... sigh

Oh well... I was really really good for five days and I just threw the rest of them in the trash... all mushed up and inedible... and I'm back on track !!!!!

Other than the sinful chocolate cupcakes, all the other food in the house is of the healthy sort..... If I don't have junk food in the house, I'm fine. But bring it in the house and I can't leave it alone. I KNEW that when I bought them this morning. Lesson re-learned.

Susan, when I read this about the chocoalte I laughed because I feel your pain. Actually, I am in pain (camps). :( I blew my diet, exercise and so far I have only consumed a little over 64oz of water today. But tomorrow is another day, like you said onward and upward. :) We are going to have set backs but we can't allow that to discourage us, we have to keep STEPPING...lol... :)

I am finding eating healthy is expensive! I guess it is going to take some getting use to, changing my ways.

I am going to ATTEMPT Body Fusion, Basic Step or something tomorrow, I can not let 2 days pass by without exercising. ooooooooh cramps!

In the famous words of Susan "We CAN do this.....we ARE DOING this"!!!!!!!

I will check in tomorrow morning after I complete my workout.
