Barbell question

Hi, I'm fairly new to Cathe's workouts- I have been working out consistently for the last year or so and recently discovered her on FitTV. She is amazing and I have been buying videos as fast as my finances will allow!

Anyway, I am going to start High Step Challenge tomorrow morning and I noticed in my preview of the video that she says she is using 40 pounds on her dumbbell. Is this total weight or that plus the bar? I'm asking because I only have an Olympic style bar instead of Cathe's standard style bar (I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terms here). Anyway, mine weighs more is the point- 25 pounds, I think. So if I add 40 pounds to it I can barely lift that sucker over my head, much less do all of the exercises with it. I can use what weight amounts she does typically (but not always) so I figure she must be using 40 pounds including her bar or maybe her bar doesn't weigh that much extra?

I just wondered if anyone else has figured this out. Thanks in advance and I apologize if someone asked / answered this recently. I tried doing a search and didn't find anything on point.
 
Also, her bar only weighs 5 lbs. I thought, when I began, crap - I'm weak. I didn't think I was!! Then I found out my bar weighed 15 lbs and hers 5 lbs. Evened out the score a bit more :p

lol I did the same thing. It was a long time before I realized her bb only weighed 5#. That explained a lot.
