Balance Boards / Bosu

I know alot of you have Bosu but at 100.00 its just not something I want to invest in right now. Are balance Boards or Wobble Boards appropriate to use in Bosu type workouts?
I am exploring these but just not sure from boxes and internet sites. The cost seems to be closer to 30-50.00 for these options.

I just received Sweatfest Sculpt and would like to get something that I can use in the Bosu segments.

TIA!

Thanks for asking about this, Traci, I had the same question because I don't want the investment into a Bosu right now.

Hmm, I don't have much experience with balance boards, but I think probably not. A bosu is stable on the bottom; isn't a balance board (by nature) unstable on the bottom? I think you'd be risking an injury.

BTW, you can get a bosu from gnc.com for a much cheaper price. If you search google, you should be able to find coupons as well. I got mine for about $65.

I bought a BOSU a while back at Target -- it was on sale for $79, plus I had a 10% coupon -- otherwise I probably wouldn't have purchased it because I wasn't totally sold on the notion.

Now that I have it, I have to say I love that thing. There are some great BOSU workouts available, and the BOSU itself offers a lot of variety and good core work, as well as great cardio. The BOSU step workouts make my legs/core work harder than a regular step.

Anyway ... I agree with Marie that you'd be putting yourself at great risk for injury. A BOSU flipped over can simulate a wobble board, but a wobble board can only be a wobble board. It cannot simulate a BOSU.

Best wishes,
Marla
