Thanks, Debbie! I can now better justify the expense to my DH!}( I switched around my workouts this week so I can play with my new Troy tomorrow! I'm so excited!

Tess - It is SOOO nice having it all out of the living room! I got my treadmill today and my dumbbell rack, so I am itching to go back home and put it all together. Then, I will take some final pics of the room. I hope this afternoon goes quickly!!!

OMG you got a treadmill too? Wow, I didn't know you were doing that. I bet your DH is just thrilled to have all this new equipment at his disposal, right? What kind of TM did you end up getting.
:p

Lol, once I moved everything downstairs, I had just enough room in the corner for one of those fold up treadmills. I started looking at Amazon just for the heck of it and they had a Horizon on sale 56% off with free shipping. With DH's approval, I got this one:

I ordered it last Wed. and it already came today! The truck driver who brought it was a sweetie. The first thing he said was "you don't look like you need a treadmill!" I wanted to give him a hug!

Wow, what a steal. That looks like a great treadmill! You are going to love it. I'm glad your DH approved. I had a heck of a time getting mine to approve my treadmill, I pined over that thing for years before he finally gave in. Good job!!

My husband fixed the width of the squat rack for me by unbolting the back support down at the floor, and just taking that center section of tubing to a local metal shop. The person at the shop was able to easily cut about 12-14" off of that center section. My husband then came home and used his metal drill and a drill press to re-create the holes in that shorter tube, and finally re-assembled the squat stand. It's now just the right width to accommodate my 5' bar. I had thought about purchasing a 6' bar, but I think the rack would have even been too wide for it as well. On the Troy website, they say the 6' Troy bar is only 42" between the collar areas, and the squat rack came w/ a 48" width (before we cut it down). And besides that, using a 6' was going to really be tight in my workout space, not to mention being really long for me to handle, since I'm only 5'2".

Now the plates on my 5' bar sit on the OUTSIDE of the squat rack, so I can load and unload them easily.

Oh, and by the way, the metal fabrication shop didn't even charge my husband to cut the pipe - it was free! He would have charged a fee to drill the holes, but luckily we didn't have to do that, since my husband owned the drill press and metal drill bit. But if you didn't own that stuff, the metal shop would certainly be willing to drill the new holes, too. It really made the rack work GREAT for me and my 5' bar, as well as making it fit MUCH better in my room, since it's now about 14" narrower!

Just checking in to warn anyone else looking at treadmills of what I learned the hard way. Treadmills are a lot like sofas: They don't look anywhere near as large in the store as they do in your home so measure carefully. I wanted a quality one and that's what I got but the thing is HUGE. It folds up but it STILL takes up a lot of space and is too heavy and cumbersome to be easily moved (and I NEED to move it).

You may want to consider buying the olympic size bars. They are 45lbs (I believe) so you really don't need to buy too many plates to get a good amount of weight for squats. For me this saves a LOT of time in loading and unloading. Last time I was in the states I saw a few for like $40 which I thought was a STEAL!

LilMoFit...

Thank you! That is a great idea! I DO have an Olympic size bar already that weighs 45# on it's own with no plates so I am THINKING maybe I can just get by using my Troy for lighter and then, using it for heavier? It would be nice not to go back & forth though. Thanks for the creative idea! What a great DH!!!

Thanks Carolyn! I DO have an Olympic size and it does weigh 45#'s. Maybe, I'll see if I can just use it and also my Troy at times. Thanks!

RE: LilMoFit...

I have 2 bars that I like to use. I keep my bigger bar loaded up for legs and then I have a smaller bar that I use for arms/chest. It takes a little more room, but I find it a lot more convenient not to have to switch the weights around constantly since my legs are much stronger than my arms. Now that I'm getting where I can handle more weight,I've been eying up that Wal-Mart squat rack! Hummmm, maybe I can talk hubby into it for next month.

RE: LilMoFit...

Tammy, get it! It is a very nice piece of equipment! There is also TWO racks so you can "store" your two BB's off the floor. Sooo, quit eying and start BUYING! :7

Okay, you guys, you probably already figured this out but I didn't til today! If you put the bench part in the decline position, it is just the right height to sit on the end for exercises like seated moves, concentrated bicep curls, seated flyes & so forth...I have been trying to sit on the bench to do these moves and it is just a bit too high for my short legs. The other position is perfect! (The yellow piece/rod underneath is placed in the very last hole) Just thought I'd share. It saves time not having to pull out another bench/seat!

no kidding! after hubby put together my last TM (i've been through 4... 3 models since the end of november... don't ask x(... he commented: "i don't know why they put wheels on it... it's too heavy to move around" so i'm not even going to try! i'm fortunate that mine is in the spot it's to be in and gonna stay there unless for some REALLY strange reason we need to move it.... fortunately i don't need to fold it up... it's heavy to lift... but does have shock assist for lowering! (It had a shipping weight of 400 pounds!!!!)
