August RTers -- Happy Hump Day!!!

Cathlete
Good morning!

So I didn't sleep at all last night worrying about when I should leave for NJ. Not sure if anyone read my post last night, it was kind of late. But in a nutshell, I went to my parents house last night and we somehow got on the subject of the RT. By the time I left there, I was all stressed about about my drive... They can't understand why someone would want to drive 6 hours to New Jersey to exercise. Of course, it's so much more than just exercising, but they don't understand.

So I got home and vented to DH and he said "Why are you listening to them? They don't "get it"!" And he's right, I love them all dearly, but they don't get it!!! Thankfully he gets it and so does DD even though she's only 8 yrs old. So as of this morning, I'm sticking with my original plan and back to stressing about my outfits!!!!:D

I'm doing a CC on my bike tonight and I can't wait! I think it's going to be a long one, too!!

Sending destress vibes to Melissa ;)

I am still not sure if my lower body will handle B&G tonight  Legs are still a bit sore. I may just try to do what I can!!

Melissa - Don't let them get to you. It's hard for people who aren't involved to understand why this is so important to us. I think my in-laws think I am nutters! My DH totally gets it though and it sounds like yours does too. I actually kind of enjoy my time alone in the car on the way to NJ. I made myself up a bunch of Cd's for the road and brought my own little mini-cooler with drinks and snacks last year. And I usually treat myself to a Frapachino (however you spell that) at one of the toll road service stations. You will survive! Just make sure to stop at least half-way through and stretch your legs, eat a snack and re-charge for the last 3 hours. And feel free to call me. I'll be driving too (on the road around 5 a.m., but up at 4:30 a.m.). I'll pm you my cell. Also, something I like to do on my directions is write the miles next to each step. For example, I'm on the toll road for 89.9 miles. Instead of constantly wondering how far I've gone, I set my trip meter to 0 as soon as I get on the toll road. Then I just cruise along not worrying about anything until I see my meter get close to 89, then I know I have a turn coming up. I only do that for the longer stretches, but it really helps me not to worry about missing that all important turn. ;) Of course, I could just spring for a Garmin or a Tom,Tom, but that would be too easy. ;)

Catherine - After last night's events, I didn't get any workout in except for cleanmax (I do that when I am upset - my house is spotless now). I'm really getting frustrated at myself for not getting a lower body workout in. I have to do one tonight. Hold me to it!

Oh, Melissa, sending you {{{HUGS}}}! You know, I didn't tell my family about the RT either until just about two weeks ago, because I knew their reaction would be the same. Don't let your parents make you feel funny about it -- our interest in fitness and love for Cathe is just something that other folks just don't "get." We are all going to have so much fun!!

Catherine -- Can you put off B&G one more day if you're still sore? Your tuckus might thank you for it! ;)

Liann -- Ah, your drive sounds pleasant, the way you have everything all set up for a fun time! Have you heard anything else from the Vet Tech program? Will you still be starting that up? It sounds like a great program!!

Catherine - thanks for the destress vibes. I think they are working!

Liann - thanks for the tips! I am going to reset my trip meter for the long stretches, that's a great idea. Treating myself to a frappachino isn't a bad idea either! I'm sure I'll need some form of caffeine half-way through. I was thinking about getting a book on CD, but may just stick with my iPod. Hey, and I could always listen to Coach Sean for some feel-good vibes.

I'm starting to feel all excited about it again. Now, if I can only avoid my family for the next week or so...;)

ETA - Hi Leanne! We must have been posting at the same time. Yeah, they can't wrap their brains around being excited about, and I quote: "being with 105 people that chat on the computer about exercising?!?!" TOTALLY INSANE!!!

Leanne - My High School didn't get my transcripts in in time for me to get approved before the deadline for registration. I called Purdue and asked them to process the admissions application anyways for the Spring semester. I should start classes in January. It's a little frustrating to have to wait, but this way I have some time to save up money for the registration and my books and I may be able to take more than one class because of that. I'm not giving up on it. :)

Well, I had a reply but I lost it so you all are getting the paraphrased version.http://www.thecathenation.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

Melissa-I know exactly what you are going through!! Even my DH doesn't really get it. He usually comments on me being on the forums too.

Liann-I know what you mean about enjoying the drive, up until Philly that is. It is hard to explain but it made me feel more independent when I drove up last year.

Catherine-What about stretching tonight and then a leg workout tomorrow?

Leanne-I got the friends request and added you to my list. How are your workouts going?

Today, I did another total body with cardio intervals and then I taught my Pilates/Yoga class. Tomorrow is cardio only and then on Friday I am going to do Muscle Endurance, which I love to hate because leg presses rank right up there with getting a root canal for me.

Beth

ETA: Help! I can't get the smilies to work. All I get is the website address. What am I doing wrong?

I’m late stopping by—just been one of those days. And I had to go to Target. Some of you may already have heard of this Targetitis I have. That’s what I’m calling my Target addiction today. At least we have stock in the company so it’s like paying myself…. Or something.

Anywho, did 4DS KB today. Remind me not to do that one with the weights first premix again. Ouch, it really hurt to do jacks and kicks after working my legs. Tomorrow will be 4DS BC.

Here’s what I’m thinking for next week pre-RT:
Mon…..LIC Upper Body Circuit premix
Tues…..SB
Wed…...B&G
Thurs….Yoga (to chill before finishing the packing)
Fri……..might do more cardio, possibly kickboxing, before leaving, but not sure if I’ll fit it in

What do ya’ll think?

Melissa, yep, so many people don’t “get it,” do they? I don’t know if my DH really gets it, but he gets it enough to watch the boys for me while I traipse off down to the RT, so that’s good.

Catherine, good luck if you try B&G tonight!

Liann, I kind of wish I was driving (and it’s only a little over 2 hours from here) but I managed to find someone to hitch a ride with and I figure it makes sense to split the gas and stuff. I would feel freer if driving my car, though. I love long road trips by myself. Sorry to hear about the little delay in your school plans, but it sounds like you are planning for it well!

Leanne, yep, it’s going to be so great to be with so many others who do get it!

Beth, oy, leg presses—I hate those, too. Sometimes I just skip them and blame it on my knees. Not sure what’s up with your smilies. Let me try mine. Yep, seems to work. Not sure what the deal is for yours. Hope they work for you next time. OK, just realized as I submitted my reply that there was a checkbox next to "Disable Smilies in Text" perhaps they were disabled in your last post?

P.S. Forgot to say thank you to everyone for your kind words and whops on the head last night! They were much needed. I'm still disappointed in myself for gaining weight back, but I will try to chill about it.

OMG, Melissa, don't give another thought to what others say. I tend not to tell many people about my "addiction" because I don't want to get the look. Think about the wonderful things you are doing for yourself via exercise. There are a lot of worse vices out there! :( Just keep smiling and checking in with us. :)

Catherine, I like Beth's idea of stretching! Give yourself a break.

Liann ,you have this RT thing down pat! Do you often take long drives? I tend to chew a lot of gum and eat a lot of hard candy when I have a long drive.

Leanne, you are right. We are going to have tons of fun. Does everyone have their PJ's?:D

Lainie, there is a Target right near the hotel. ;)

Today was HSC. I'm having trouble with upperbody work as I think I cracked\bruised a rib.I can do shoulders and bis. Chest work is a no no and even some tricep work is off limits for now. OK, get this, one night when I was down the shore for vacation, DH and I went for a walk on the beach. Well, he squeezed me so hard that it did something. I'm not sure it's called the rib. It's actually in my chest adjacent to my sternum. It's much better know, bu sheesh it hurt.

OMG Phyllis!! You'd better tell DH to calm down :p I hope you are healed for next weekend. The word on the street is that the BC class was a killer. And that was from Cathe herself:eek:

Well, I didn't exactly stretch tonight, but I didn't do B&G either. I did SZ 1-7 and weighted chinups. I will pick up on B&G either tomorrow or Friday. Because I may go shopping after work tomorrow;)

Beth there is a thing toward the bottom of your user CP to set to use the smilies. I have to look at mine and see what it's called.

Lanie- I think you are brave to do B&G next Wed. If your legs recover quickly I say go for it. But I would go easy, trust me. By Sunday last year I was walking very funny!!

Leanne, are ya ready????

Wow Phyllis, that man of yours is quite a hugger!!! And thanks for the encouraging words. Everyone's positive vibes today put me right back where I need to be! So THANK YOU FELLOW RTers!!

Catherine - I read that about the BC class, too, and I cringed a little! And I think Cathe mentioned that they have it on video... I can tell you all right now, that if anyone catches me on video mid-workout, it isn't going to be pretty! Pictures are bad enough, never mind video...

I ended up doing 4DS Kickbox tonight instead of a CC. I felt the urge to kick and punch!! I haven't done any kickbox in a long time and it felt great. My legs are already talking to me. Those low plane lunges are killer!

I've got to admit I'm pretty scared about this boot camp class. The wimp that I am actually got sick at Cathe's early morning class last week. It's kind of funny cuz' if you look at the official pictures on the Cathe website for the early morning class, you will see an empty step up towards the front in several pics - that's where I WAS standing before I had to run out of the class. And if you look at some of the other pictures, you will actually see me leaning down to put down my weights to leave. Awe memories... ;)

Liann, that is awful! You poor thing...was it something you ate?

I confess, I am a little scared of the BC class myself. I have a feeling that Cathe is really making us work this year.

AugRT

Just want to jump on here and say that I am sooo excited for the RT.

Catherine-Sorry I haven't posted on the chin up thread. I miss you guys.
