Are all Catheites peanuts????

RE: Buzz Kill

Didn't mean to upset you, Hollie. Just thought better of it and changed my mind. My fur's not in a fluff. Just another example of why it's so difficult to "talk" in an atmosphere like this. We can't see each other, and we can't hear the tones in our voices, and words get misinterpreted, and meanings and connotations get attached to words that were never meant to be there in the first place. You can't read someone's mind, and you can't assume they mean something without asking for clarification first. I feel Pinky attached a meaning to my words which was not there to begin with. It's easy to do in cyber space, but you can't attach your own connotations and interpretations to other people's words. That's how things get misconstrued. I'm not on here to argue or "fight" with anyone. I never meant to hurt Susan, and I never meant to hurt Pinky. I was only trying to understand what I interpreted as Susan's anger toward this thread, but obviously my words were hurtful, at least to Pinky. It's impossible to please everyone all the time, even in the "real" world, much less the cyber one, but if I have offened anyone - Susan, Pinky, or anyone else with my words and my asking for clarification, I apologize. There's really nothing else I can say. I'm a big girl, and I can take constructive criticism, but anyone would get put out if someone else attached a meaning to a word without first asking for clarification. I thought that was what I was doing in my first post to Susan, but obviously it was not interpreted that way. I do however, think it's my best interests to stay off this thread now. The fun has gone out of it for me, and I don't agree with many of the things being said on here. I thought it was all right on this forum to express my opinion, but often I do wonder ...

Exactly, the point, Carol. A model of those proportions dosn't represent us. Why aren't there 5'2" models of various weights hawking jeans. Why does the woman who's buying wrinkle reducers have no wrinkles? I know it ain't the overpriced product and they are crazy if they think I do. Where is the woman with the huge ribcage. Can it be that the McRib sandwich commercial is the only place I can turn?

With regard to unfair sizing and feminism, I've always wondered why men can choose clothing sizes according to sleeve length, collar circumference, waist, inseam, etc. and women (who I imagine buy far more clothing than men) have to choose some arbitrary number which varies, sometimes greatly, from manufacturer to manufacturer.

I also think the point about a size 0 being "nothing" was valid. I never thought of it that way before.

Bobbi - I enjoy reading your balanced, humorous posts and you were nice to comment on the intelligence and humor of other posters.

Thank you, Susan! That probably has everything to do with the fact that I have 8 older sisters and one baby sister. A good sense of humor and the ability to see two sides comes in handy when you are stuck between, say, the sister who is always right and the one who's going to have her way come what may.

Your point is very insightful, Susan. Wouldn't that sort of sizing make ours lives so much easier? I might acutally be able to take my 14 year-old shopping without bringing along Kleenex when she melts down because nothing fits. Also, it costs more for women to dryclean and to get their hair cut. We really need to make Alexis queen. Them men in charge have dropped the ball!

I just got home from work and almost fell through the floor reading the 30 posts since my last visit. I realy enjoy all you "guys" and am flattered by the compliments. I was in rare, silly mode yesterday.

.....I left the party to get more snacks and come back to find my friends getting their feathers ruffled. Glad you all got back together and started dancing again. It was a great party; thanks for coming!

I'll never look at a McRib sandwich or a can of mixed nuts without thinking of my friends. Oh, look, there's Bobbi, and Carol the pecan, and Pinky.....and all the cashews and slivered almonds. And if you buy the really expensive mixed nuts, they'll always put in a macadamian or two to make you feel special ;) .

There is room on this forum for all of us. I like that.
Alexis, the Queen Nut, or Moose, or .....

Just had to add that I rarely if ever post here. I read often and excercise to Cathe nearly everyday. I often feel that the majority of exercisers here are amazon peanuts! So this thread caught my eye and I'm so glad I read it.

I am 5'11 and weigh 185 and wear a size 12. I am very happy with the way I look, but I am and always will be a "big" girl. I will NEVER be a size 0 and frankly I don't know anyone in my real world who is! So reading about all the size 2's etc here on this forum always blows me away!

Bobbi and Susan C your posts were wonderful! Thank you so much for expressing what I have often thought about.

Thank you, Alexis!! You ARE the Queen, and I'm honored to be a pecan!! LOL!!

Proud to be a nut!

At the Costco Wholesale Warehouse, where I often shop, they have a huge container of "Fancy" nuts. It contains Brazil nuts, almonds, pecans, cashews and hazelnuts, but NO peanuts, as if that's a good thing! The world needs more peanuts to nestle along side the Brazil nut, almonds, pecans, cashews and hazelnuts! I think we have proven here that all nuts can live together harmoniously, learn from each other, and best of all, laugh! Being a part of a fabulous community of Nuts, is as good for our good health as the exercising and careful attention to dieting we do. You are strengthening my immune system and reducing my stress levels and everyone who sees me wonders why the heck I go around smiling all the time. I'll bet they think I'm a nut! Or an idiot! LOL!

RE: Proud to be a nut!

The reason the container announces its lack of peanuts is probably because there are a lot of people with peanut allergies (my 8-yr-old son is one of them) and a reaction can be deadly! For some reason, peanut allergies are on the rise, too. That's why airlines rarely serve them anymore because, for some people, even just inhaling peanut molecules can cause a fatal reaction. (Luckily, my son's allergy isn't as severe as that. But allergies change and it might get to that point one day.)

Sorry -- didn't mean to change the light-hearted tone of this fun thread. Just wanted to clarify that peanuts aren't unloved or unwanted!:)

RE: Proud to be a nut!

I LOOOVE peanuts and just this year (age 45) developed an allergy to them! (I get a rash). I've eaten peanut butter, brittle, peanuts, peanut M&M's, peanut butter cookies (my fave!) Cracker Jacks and just about anything with peanuts in it all my life. I added peanuts to my trail mix (I eat nuts every day) and got this most itchy hivey rash on my leg. Finally figured it out and as soon as I made new trail mix sans peanuts, voila! Rash gone. I tested it out at a Yankee/Red Sox game this summer (ate 1/3 bag peanuts in their shells... I know, I know) and 24 hours later? Rash in the same place! I can eat tiny amounts of peanuts but that's it. It kills me!

RE: Proud to be a nut!

Thank you, Susan. Just as long as it's not because they don't consider them fancy enough!

Gretzky, that is a bummer! I am a huge fan of peanuts although I have also read that they have can have some fungus you shouldn't injest but, hey you can't give up everything!

A-Jock, I wanted to thank you for your size 0 post telling us what you eat. I ate a few Cheetos yesteday, thinking, if "Annette can indulge in a nightly "dosage of Cheez-Its, potato chips, Old Dutch Cheese Doodles or some other chippie-snackie", so can I". And here's a thought, what if the reason you have those bicep veins is BECAUSE you eat them! I may have to quit eating chocolate, eat more chippie-snacks and see what develops!

RE: Proud to be a nut!

I think of A-Jock often! Like when I'm adding chocolate chips to my trail mix, and every time I do plyo jacks and tuck jumps! But in a good way! Really! :D And while we're talking about A-Jock, can I just thank you for letting me know about aqua classes? They are building a state-of-the-art Y in my neighborhood, and I'm going to check it out and maybe join JUST so I can do some cross-training in the pool... who knew I'd ever get excited about swimming? Thanks!

Sorry to stray so far from peanuts... but wait! I might BE one. Ahhh! Back on track.

RE: Proud to be a nut!

ENOUGH WITH THE NUTS ALREADY!!

Bobbi, are you saying that because I prefer mixed nuts, I have something against peanuts? Huh? Huh? Are ya? ;)

It's become clear to me that we are very nutty! When you said you would like to be an acorn, my Pre-K brain remembered this song, "I'm an acorn small and round, lying on the cold, cold, ground. People come and stomp on me, that is why I'm cracked you see. I'm a nut."

I'm so glad you can "take" the ribbing :p !

And just for the record, I would NEVER make fun of little, small, peanut, short, diminutive, petite, tiny women.....who could beat me up!

See ya around, Alexis

This has got to be the nuttiest thread I've ever seen!!!LOL It's been a roller coaster ride of funny stuff and some serious, thought-provoking material...this from a size Large on a 5' frame(but I am working on this...my doctor says I have to lose the pounds...doesn't care about the inches I guess). I'll be an acorn, too...but I dearly love cashews!!! Thanks, Alexis for a fun thread!!!

Actually, I thought Alexis52 was a pretty good at what she said, I am 44 and I am 5'2", and I used to be 138 at my heaviest, and I hated it. I am now 109, and wear a size 6 almost size 4, and am SOOOOO happy about it.
I gained all that weight from havig babies 2 of them, and never exercising, and eating to much.
I am happy to be a peanut, not a size 0 though :7 .... but peanut enough lol..... SOOOOOOO PARTY ON :7 ....... Rhonda :7

NOT SLAMMING, just stating facts .....God blesssssssss
