>You say this isn't a slam, but it sure reads that way. Also,
>society isn't labeling the woman a size 0 ... it's labeling
>the CLOTHES a size 0.
But who decides how to label the clothes? They don't label themselves!
You say big women "get in the way", and
>make reference to "we", so I'm assuming you see yourself as
>"big", yet you say you're a size 10 or a 12. That's not
>"big". The average size today for women in this country is 12
>or 14, so 10 or 12 is not "big".
Considering my height/weight many people would call me "big". In fact, arccording to height weight charts, which I know are dubious, I am "morbidly obese" although to look at me you wouldn't think so.
I have been a size 14, in all its manifestations, since about age 10. I've been a size 16 as well. I know what it's like to be gawked at while people watch you put food on your plate. I've endured comments from family members, people who meant well, and even strangers asking me "when am I due". The hurt just can't be expressed.
Truthfully, I'm having
>trouble understanding what exactly it is you're so upset
>about. Are you saying we're slamming you?
NO!
Are you saying
>we're slamming big women?
NO! But I teach small children and isn't it sad that I already hear 5th grades girls talking about how fat they are?
Are you saying society as a whole
>labels people by putting numbers on clothing labels?
Our society, popular culture, to be exact, talks a good line about how beauty is on the inside, but when you look at what's on the TV, in the movies, or in print, it's all externals.
Or are
>you just one pissed off woman in general?
No, actually I have a pretty good sense of humor.
That's the way it
>sounds to me, but of course that's only my insignificant
>perception here. I could be wrong.
Unfortunately I think one post expressing my frustration makes it easy to peg me as pissed off - LOL!
Sorry to be a party pooper. Sometimes I really regret opening my mouth.
