Appreciate Electricity

Cathe and Everyone Else,
Iam one of those Kansans that just spent almost a week without electricity due to an ice storm. I lost power Tuesday between 1-3am and it came back on Friday afternoon. It was miserable no heat no workouts. Fortunately I have family in town that did not lose power so I had somewhere to stay, alot of families didn't. Now we are getting hit with snow probably 3 inches on ground now an still snowing, but at least I get to workout today.

Tell me about it. I am a fellow Kansan. I live in Northeast Kansas and we still don't have power. I am at my mother-in-law's who has a generator so I can take a shower and see what is going on in cyber space. Hopefully today we will have power, but it's snowing again so I don't know. I hear everything from 30 days to tomorrow. I keep crossing my fingers. My son is loving this, since he hasn't been to school since Monday. Take care. I am so glad that you have power.

Where do you live? I live in Manhattan. I hope they get to you guys soon. Even though I had access to a shower and heat it just wasn't the same as being home. My 20 year old daughter still lives with us and she was actually crying because we couldn't come home.

I have my laundry going now. I never knew that I could appreciate having a washer and dryer and dishwasher so much. LOL

I live outside of Netawaka on a farm, so I actually don't live right in town, which isn't much of a town at that. Our farm is 10 miles north of Holton or 40 miles north of Topeka. I'm sorry about your daughter. It sure is hard to be alone at a time like this.

Isn't great. When I got home from work last nite I turned on every lite in the house, the x-mas tree, and ran the dishwasher just because I could. Congrats on your electricity.

Hello!! I am in Lee's Summit, MO and work in Overland Park so I am right here with you in all this nasty weather. Right now I am watching it snow snow snow.... it has been snowing for about 4 hours already non-stop.

I was lucky I didn't lose my power, well not yet anyways. The ice didn't melt for me so now the snow is hiding it for a slip and slid no fun event come Monday.

Nice to know that there are other Cathe fan's so close to me. We should all find time to get together and hold our own little "road trip" }(

It quit snowing here. I think I just shoveled 5 inches of snow what a mess. I would love to get together sometime.

I'm in Columbus Ohio and we're just now getting hit. We got a 5" of snow in less than an hour Saturday morning and, as I drove to work I could HEAR it switch to sleet. The City got the roads cleaned up while I was at work but It's sleeting again now (early Sunday) and we're supposed to get hammered today. As a postal worker at a major facility, less than 10 days before Xmas, I have to work weekends but, since hardly nobody else does, I think the roads are going to be horrible when I leave for work today. I wouldn't hate winter so much if it weren't for the dangerous driving and the electrical outages. I hope everyone had their electric back on soon. What a mess.

Hi Everyone,

I live in Kansas City, Kansas and thank goodness we did not lose our electricity. I have a bunch of relatives that live in Merriam, Ks (real close to me) and the whole city was without electricity for a day. It is only 13 degrees here right now. It snowed all day yesterday. I only like the snow if I do not have to drive in it. I am not going to church because I am scared to drive and my husband is at work and can not go with us. Hopefully it will warm up a little bit this week and everyone will have their power back on.
