I'm in the mood for some easy reading and have stumbled across these books but have yet to start. I want some reviews! Are they as clever as everyone says or are they a waste of time?

I've read them all and LOVE them !!! They are very funny.....I laugh my way through them.....often out loud , scaring my pets !!:D

If you are looking for humor / crimesolving......Stephanie is a bounty hunter..... this is a great series ! :D

Absolutely love, love, love Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum. Grandma Mazur is an absolute hoot. Have a bit of a personal connection since her husband, Peter, used to be a colleague. After Janet wrote One for the Money, Peter transitioned to helping to manage the business side of her book writing empire. It's great to see really wonderful people succeed.

Evanovich's books are very entertaining and the character development over time has been really great. I recommend that you start with One for the Money and stay sequential. I'm still trying to decide if I like Ranger or Morelli better as a match for Stephanie.

I love these books!!! They are soo funny! I have read them a bunch of times. I agree you should start with one for the money. I can hardly wait until #15 comes out...grandma mazur is funny and I also love Lula.

I just looked these up after reading this thread. They sound great! I'm going to buy a set of the first three books! :)

I've read all of them and agree with what everyone else has said. Very funny. Please careful though...they talk about FOOD all the time!

I've read them all, very funny books. My ds11 is currently into them, I can hear him laughing away.

I have read them all, usually I read them in one sitting and then cant wait til the next one comes out. They're hilarious! Stephanie's my hero. My only minor criticism, is when Evanovich recaps a bit of the background history at the beginning of each book.

They are hilarious! Another vote for Grandma Mazur and Lula as favorites.

And Ranger....mmmmm, yummy. I think my very favorite character was Sal (I think?) the cross dresser.

These are laugh out loud books. Definitely a bit on the "lite" side but they really hit the spot when you're in the mood.

I enjoyed the first few books of the series but they got repetitive pretty quickly. The first two or three are quite good and funny, though.

I enjoyed the first few books of the series but they got old fast. The problem is the plot is very predictable and I got tired of the characters not learning from their mistakes. You should read the first two or three at least. They are quite good and funny.

I LOVED this series. Like somebody else said, they do get repetitive if you read a few in a row. So I started at the beginning of the series, read 1 or 2, read something else and then came back for another book or 2, etc etc.

You'll LOVE it!

I read the first one, but it was a bit much for me. She gets herself into some really outrageous situations, and I probably made a mistake in trying to imagine myself in her predicaments. If it were a movie, I'd probably enjoy it and find it amusing. Books leave too much to the imagination, I guess.

I was not a reader until this wonderful group suggested her and Now I am hooked on Reading.

This is an Awesome, Awesome, Awesome Series. It is Hillarious. I also was recommended the Bubbles Series too by Sarah Strohmeyer have them all but haven't read yet.

I love this series. Very funny. Definitely mind candy. the books always have me laughing out loud & my DH wondering what's up.

OMG! I love Steph! Esp growing up in NJ & recognizing a lot of stuff in the books.

Very light, easy & fun reading, not to mention LOL like every other page.

Let us know after you read a couple who you think she should be with, Ranger or Morelli (I'm a Morelli girl myself, I think Steph is a fool for jerking him around ;)).

I love these books! Don't forget Sally Sweet as another great character. :D Oh, I'm also a Morelli girl, but you have to admit, there is something about Ranger that's plain hot.

There is a website called stopyourkillingme.com which is all about murder mysteries.

It is sorted by both author and by main character (last name) and will provide the list of books in order, and also other series by the author. I find it very helpful when I am ordering books from the library. Apparently the Stephanie Plum books have numbers in most of the titles, but according to the website "Visions of Sugar Plums" is between "Hard Eight" and "To the Nines", and there other non-number titles after that.

The website also has a feature where you can find similar books to read. For example, if you like books set in the 1880's, it will give you a list of characters set in that era and then you can find the list of their books.

I love mysteries and a reference librarian showed me this website. I've been a faithful user ever since.

hope this helps.
