Anyone looking for a good deal on dumbbells?

I have been searching for some heavier dumbbells and just found a website that has some on sale and with free shipping. They are the silver ones, not the rubber enclosed one. I decided to go with these though because the platemates will fit safer. These are wayyy cheaper than anything else I have found. The 35 lb ones are around $.65 a pound which is pretty good.

Liann, you must have been reading my mind. I was just looking at 30lb dumbells online and they were over $1.00/lb!!!

This is great! Thanks for posting.:D

Melissa - Everything I was finding was over $1 a lb too. It was going to cost me well over $200 to get what I wanted plus shipping. Here, I can get pairs of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, & 35 lbs for $181.28. I already have 10's but I want to be able to use platemates on them and my current ones are those plastic coated ones. Now, the trick it to convince DH that I've always had that many dumbbells laying around!

Liann - maybe he'll be so overwhelmed by the size of your weight bench that he won't even notice all the new dumbells!

I have some plastic coated 8's & 10's and I'm thinking that I might as well replace them since the price is so great.

Lol, I was actually thinking I could probably hide all the dumbbells under the new weight bench!

Who knew that such a good deal on dumbells would be so exciting to me!?!?

This has seriously made my day!! Off to fill up my cart..

Hey you guys, I was reading some other sites and this is a good idea - if you get 2 pairs of the 2.5 lb platemates, you don't need to buy dumbbells in every 5 lb increments. You could just buy 20's and 30's and the platemates would automatically give you 25's and 35's and might save you some space. Of course you might want to get the dumbbells anyway so you can incrementally go up from 25 to say 27.5 with the lighter platemates. Just throwing out options. I have 25's but I'm going to skip 30's and get 35's.

Oh and LIANN - thanks ofr sharing this awesome deal!!

That's a great idea Tess. Especially since that 5lb jump is hard to work up to. Maybe I'll skip the 30's and get 35's instead and 2 sets of platemates.

Oh no, you just gave me more things to consider!!! I could just get a pair of 10, 20, 30, & 40 if I did it that way... Do they have the hex platemates in 2.5 lbs? I just saw them in 1.25 lbs. I would be tempted to get platemates in both sizes so I could still have a middle ground between 5 lb increments.

p.s. Where are you guys going to buy your platemates from?

I haven't seen the hex platemates in 2.5 lbs but I did see the donut and I read that the donuts fit nicely on dumbbells over 20 lbs. I am going to get 2 pairs of 2.5's and 2 pairs of 1.25's, then 35 lb dummbells and my next dumbbell jump would be 45 but that's a long way off.

For all the platemates sets its about $100 at fwonline but it will save a lot of space and money on dumbbells.

Here's a dumb question - say I just buy a 10 lb and a 20 lb pair. If I put the 1.25 platemates on my 10 lb pair, I now have 12.5 lb dumbbells. And if instead I use the 2.5 platemates, I now have 15 lb dumbbells. Can you stack the platemates on top of each other though to make 17.5 lb dumbbells or do you have to hop from 15 to 20? Does that make any sense?

Yes your question does make sense and I wonder the same thing. I don't think you can stack them BUT I wonder if you can stick the platemates on the sides of the dumbbells rather than on the ends. Maybe someone can answer.

Lol, I can just see my dumbbells with everything but the kitchen sink hanging off of them to make them a heavier weight! If I can get one weiner dog to hang on to one side and another to hang on to the other side, I might not even need a 40 lb dumbbell! :+

Has anyone bought from them as yet? Are the reputable? Sports Authority charges $49.99 for one 40lb dumbbell.

Here's is the company's main website. I haven't dealt with them before, but I'm doing some searches to see if anyone has had any problems with them. I did look at some of their other products and the prices are pretty much the same as I have seen at Dick's and other places. It is just this particular dumbbell that is on sale.

Hmm, wonder if that would work with cats... :p

Liann, I was at the vet yesterday and saw some cute weiner dogs. Made me think of you. He was sooo cute!!

Well, for that bomb diggity of a lead Liann you get TWO margaritas because I have been wanting to buy dumbbells for my home workouts and have found the cost prohibitive until now. :* :* :*
