Anyone getting the NOREASTER storm?

Wow! We had plans to meet my sister-in-law and brother-in-law in the city tonight for dinner but they both live in Long Island. They already have 10 inches and another storm is coming and they are expecting another 10 inches!?! Long Island is really being hit hard. Even here in the city it is pretty heavy, but at least we don't have any snow to shovel and we can walk to the grocery store and stuff. It's times like these that we really appreciate living in the city!

Yep up in MA wev'e already got about 6 inches and a lot more to come. IT's WONDERFUL my kids are teenagers and actually did the shovelling for me :) JOY JOY so I could do cardio and weights :)

My daughter is a freshman at BU and has been in Cairo with a class. They are flying back right now into Kennedy, then driving to Boston. I can only imagine the hell that awaits them. The flight was delayed over 12 hrs leaving Cairo. I'm surprised they're on their way, but they should arrive in New York after midnight, then customs, then...who knows! Poor thing. She grew up in the South and has been in Egypt for two weeks. When she left Boston, it was highs in the 50s lows in the 20s and no snow at all yet. A pretty rude awakening.

Gosh hope your daughter is ok. Imagine they satayed over somewhere.

Just woke up (live in MA) looks like we got 18-24 inches) WOW

no snow yet or even predicted for Mn I would love to see about a foot would be pretty and fun to play in Ever since i said Cross country skiing would be fun no snow. For those of you getting it be careful stay home til it has been plowed

She called this morning, thanks. They landed at midnight, left New York City at 3:15 am and took 6 hrs to drive to Boston, where she got dropped off at her room at 9:30 and told me she planned to sleep all day. Poor thing has to go to class tomorrow and missed 7 class days for this special Egypt trip so she has a lot of work to do. I'm so glad she's back on the ground in Boston! Hurray!

Hey Alexis - where in Chicago are you? I have some good friends in the city. I grew up in the suburbs out there, but moved to the Philly area 5 yrs ago.

It's funny what you say about the snowfall in Chicago... people do assume that there is more snow there. There probably is actually, (normally) at least in terms of frequency. Heck I went to school at NIU in DeKalb and it snowed a ton out there. The first couple years I was here in the east it snowed minimally, and when it did, LOOK OUT! 2 or 3" of snow is enough to shut the schools, and some businesses down. But you are so right - the last couple years have been much snowier out here than there. Wierdness... but surely as soon as I fly into Chicago for the holidays, it will snow like hell and delay my flight!

Hey Liz, I'm in the suburbs, too. St. Charles. Ten years ago, it was about as far west as you could go and not live in the cornfields. Now, it's built up for twenty miles through those fields! I'm more of a country girl (code for farmer)so this is as close to the city as I want to be. It only takes about 40 minutes, on a good day, to get downtown. I love Chicago but don't wanna live there..... give me the wide open spaces.

Went to DeeeKalb, huh? Small world. I've also lived in New Hampshire and Vermont. Now they get some snow! Snow on the ground for Halloween. Snow on the ground for Easter. We lived in boots for six months of the year. And then mud season. Ugh! Alexis

Hey Alexis! Small world indeed. My folks live in Oswego. Used to be you could drive half a mile and be in farm country - long ago. Now it too has been built up all around... strip malls galore! Anyway, nice to meet another Chicagoland'er.
:) Liz

For the first time ever, I had to run my snow blower. We got 16"!! I couldn't keep up. Luckily my husband was home for the worst of it before leaving for his next business trip. I really hope we don’t get hit this hard at once again while he's gone.

We got about 18" here in north central part of MA. We had a blast sledding while my husband snow blowed the driveway. At least we'll have a white Christmas.:)

My in-laws live in Boston. My DH was trying to call them for hours Sunday morning and no calls were getting through. He was pretty scared for awhile... But everyone's OK!
