Oh yeah, even Kingsville was a culture shock for me, and I just moved from Oklahoma that time. It's the only time I've ever felt like a minority--especially when I started attending a Hispanic church--I was lily-white and blonde. That church was very accepting of a gringa member, though.

Tanya - how cool is that?? You probably know the street I used to live on then - Lindsey Drive. We've probably seen each other at some point :) If you ever want to meet up, I'm all for it. And if you bike, I'd be up for a ride!

I'm from Tomball (The south side - I live just past Spring Cypress off of 249). I'm going to the July road trip this year. I went to the one last year and it was wonderful! I had a blast. I was a little nervous to go because I went by myself and didn't know anyone. I met so many nice people and felt so comfortable. I hope you make the August one -- you will really enjoy it. Be sure you are at your computer right at noon to sign up it really fills up quick!

My grandparents live near Tomball in Decker Prairie. Do you know Goodson's Cafe? It was my other grandmother's originally. (I know -- chicken fried steak is not clean eating. :))

I live in Austin. I'm going to the July Road Trip as a First Timer. I'm a bit nervous, but very, very excited. I hope to meet you!

Good luck to you all trying to sign up for the August Road Trip tomorrow!
