Anyone else regretting NOT doing 1RM???

STS was delivered yesterday (woohoo!!!) and I'm totally regretting not doing the 1RM tests.

I kept telling myself that I'd do it when I had STS in hand, but now I want to start on Monday and am kicking myself for procrastinating...:(

Melissa- I only did about 80% of them... Have you kept weight logs on your other workouts? Those will come in handy for your educated guess'es & then you can put in your actuals .... I "think" once actuals are input the WM "may" update itself???? I could be totally wrong off course! Maybe just wishful thinking on WM capabilities! ;)

I might regret it later but I don't believe I'll be doing the 1rm tests at all... I'm pretty good at REALLY pushing myself hard.

After reading the user guide I understand the process better so while I originally thought I wouldn't do them I have changed my mind. I think I will devote this coming week to getting them done and also preview mesocycle 1. Then the following week I can start the program without regrets about not doing it as designed.

I did not do all of the 1RM, but I was dead-on when picking weights to get to failure within 10 reps, so I am somewhat trusting my judgement. I did most of the exercises that were rated at very important to perform the test, so I think I'll be okay.

If you've been training for a while and you are really challenging yourself (and you even have weight logs), you should be fine. SOmeone who is very new to weight training would want to do all the 1 RMs, otherwise they might try to use 3 lb dumbells for everything, which we know doesn't fly!

I didn't do any of mine either, and the more I think about it, the more I think I really can't spare the time! :)

So I am going to go 1-2 weight increments higher with STS than I have been using - e.g. 15 lb if I had been using 12, 30 lb if I had been using 25, etc. We'll see how it goes. And I will start logging my weights so I can see the improvement.

I didn't do mine either. I like the Workout Manager though so I may play around it with tomorrow and just do the 1RM for the first disc. After that I'll decide if I want or need to do the rest of the exercise.

Coming from someone who DID do the 1RM's (still have some more to go). I did Meso1, Day 1, Disc 1 yesterday and they really came in handy. I doubted myself on several and picked a lower weight and was suprised to see that I should have gone heavier. So, I'd say if you have the time, it is well worth the effort.

That is very good to know -- thanks for sharing that.
