Ever since my DH was on a plane TO Boston on 9/11 and was kept on the groung at Logan airport for 12 hours, and I was home with a nine month old I have been preparing survival bags.
I keep one in my car (which I actually had to use today) one in my house for each child and parent etc. I keep meds, first aid stuff, trash bags, long shelf life water, matches, solar wraps, kids clothes, socks, shoes, helmet etc etc etc.
Today we drove tou our beach house and the heater was not working. It was 42 dgrees in the house. In the 4 hours we waited for a repairman, I was able to heat the microwavable hot packs, cover us all in blankets, break open the whole body heating packs (just like hand and foot warmers) and keep me DH, 2 little boys and 14 yr old niece warm. I had a flashlight ready to go for the heater room, under the house and tools etc.
Anyone else, plan for these things and much, much worse that we can only pray will never happen again???
