Any Obagi users out there?

If so, I have a quick question. I am going to cut down on using the system to 3 days/week, but I'm wondering whether to use a moisturizer on the off days. Do you use one on the off days in the maintenance phase? If so, what type do you use?

Thanks for any input, and have a great night!

yes, I use it. I still use it everyday. My dermatologist told me to use cetaphil moisturizer. It has an SPF in it. It's cheap. You get it at your local drug store. However, I have found under my eyes looks more wrinkled when I just use the retin and their eye cream. So, I have been putting petroleum jelly under my eyes at night. And if I happen to wash my face at another pt during the day, I use estee lauder time zone or resilence. They are heavy creams ( I do think they come in a lighter lotion). I think my face looks better with it well moisturized. (I don't know if I am counter acting Obagi or not) I try to let those products do their 'job' for a few hours before I apply anything else.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks for your input, Chrissy. I think I will go ahead an use a light moisturizer along with the system when I need it. My skin seems pretty dry in the winter, and it is not an attractive look! I was surprised how difficult it was to find some information on-line re. whether using a moisturizer "interferes" with the system or not. You'd think it would be easy than that to find an answer!

Thanks again!

Deborah

Deborah,
Did you get the results you expected? I was using it for wrinkles and firming my skin. I have to say my face looks good but I am disappointed about under my eyes. I even use their eye cream. And still I feel I did not get too much improvement, especially when I smile. ( I have been using it since Aug) That is why I started putting petroleum jelly under my eyes. I think I makes them look a little better.

Hello again. I am pleased with the results overall. (I have been using the system for approx. 18 weeks.) I had some area of hyperpigmentation (sun spots, age spots, or whatever it was) and I now have a much more even skin tone. But, like you, I didn't have as dramatic results around my eyes. I have to think that this is due to the fact that I don't use the retin-A or Exfoderm on this area. (For a while, I was putting the Retin-A a little closer to my eyes, but it made the area look worse, in my opinion.) On the other hand, I do not have any of the Obagi products made specifically for the eye area, so perhaps that would have helped. (I am actually thinking of ordering one.)

I guess that was a long way of saying, I'm really happy with the results overall, but because I don't use the products right around the eye area (and I don't think you're supposed to), I can't say I've seen great results there. I need a good eye cream! I'll probably order Obagi Eye Cream or Obagi Elastiderm Night Eye Cream in the next few days, so I'll let you know if either of these help.

Have a great night!

A dermatologist told me to keep retin-A(tretinoin),away from under eyes, it would prune them up...deep moisturizer or product with alpha hyrdoxy is what she suggested....and newest is to keep away from parabens.

While we're on the subject- who has found a do DIE for under eye cream???

I use Obagi and have for several years now. It has done amazing things for my skin, removing the rather obvious hyperpigmentation I had, plus dramatically reducing pore size (and I didn't think I needed it for that when I started!), and I rarely break out anymore. I don't peel anymore, and at times have alternated with a lightweight moisturizer (Arbonne) plus Healthy Skin (it is a fabulous sunscreen although I admit very pricey). I stopped alternating so frequently when I noticed that my pores were getting clogged again. I do use an undereye cream (Lancome) and it is ok... I have noticed that under my eyes are more noticeably dry/lined and it may be from retin-a transfer but it is probably my age (40 next week). LOL

I am interested in using Obagi. Did you go to a doctor or order it by yourself? Is there a difference in strength between the two? Did you notice a difference that was worth it? Any great eye creams? I heard great things about Clinique All About Eyes, but haven't tried it!

I went to a "skin care specialist" at a nearby skin care center, but you can also look for a dermatologist in your area who uses the system. As far as I know, the Nu-derm line is the most aggressive. That is the line of products I have been using, and I am very happy with the results. Obagi has a couple of eye creams, but I have not tried either, so I can't comment on them. You really don't use moisturizers with the system (and if you do, you're supposed to use them sparingly), I think because is slows down the exfoliation or "turnover" of old skin.

At 40, I have tried many skin care products (including many of those recommended in the popular book The Skin-Type Solution), and Obagi has given my the best results by far, especially for evening out my skin tone.

Hope that helps. Have a great night!

Seriously, Chrissy? I mean, Cathe, Laura and I all told you last Friday your skin looks great -- and especially your eyes! It's funny this topic came up because I was bummed I hadn't asked you what you use. Did you go to a dermatologist, and which products did you use?
