Hi all! I've decided that I'm going to get certified in Bodypump and was wondering if you any of you out there are intructors? If so, any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated; I know I can count on you guys, my fellow Cathletes!:D:D

Hi,
I am not a bodypump instructor but I am a Group Power Instructor and they used to be the same company before Les Mills and Body Training Systems split. They are pretty much the same kind of class and I love teaching Group Power. The best thing to do is to be already taking body pump classes so you know what you're getting into and you have the endurance and stamina to teach this class. You will learn how to teach everything from the training weekend. The training weekend kicked my butt and it was so much fun. You are going to love it. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)

Thank you, Kris, for your input. I actually have attended a bodypump class and it seems like a walk in the park compared to STS endurance phase. Of course that's just MHO and I don't have to talk through it so I'm sure it's much tougher than it seems!:p The next certification starts here in two weeks. Could you tell me a little bit more about what goes on during the three days? What is involved in the written test? Years ago, I was a certified trainer through AFAA. Wondering if it's similar? TIA! Hope you're having a wonderful fourth!!!!:D

I don't know if the Bodypump training is similar to Group Power, but typically you learn a complete class during the entire weekend. For instance GP realeases new music 4 times per year and at a training you learn the current release. So on day one the trainer will lead you through an entire class. Througout the weekend the trainer will teach you about the Les Mills Brand, and breaks down how to teach the current release. Then they assign each person 1 track to teach and they film you teaching the track. From there they will break down your form and teaching skills. For GP there is no written test however you have 90 days to learn the release and film yourself teaching it to a live class and then you have to get approved by Les Mills to teach Bodypump. If you fail the test they will let you refilm. Les Mills and GP are liscenced workouts and you can only teach in a gym that pays for it's liscence. If you are currently at a gym that teaches bodypump you can ask to become a sustitute teacher and from there you can work your way into getting your own class. It helps if you are currently a group fitness instructor however I know people who do the training and never taught a class before in their life and they became great instructors.

Thanks again Chris! I'm being sponsored by the GFI manager at my gym and then if I pass the certification, she's hiring me immediatley!:D Very excited and a bit nervous to boot! Hope this all fits in with my current STS rotation:p I'm a die hard Cathe fan, to be sure!:D:D:D
