An oustanding core workout

LauraMax

Cathlete
Saturdays I reserve for core & this week had a great workout. I did Kimberly Spreen's Extreme Kickboxing--not the interval pre-mix but the kickbox section first & the bodybar section second. Then I did Core Max sec. 3 & 2 (in that order). So it was kind of like warming up the core, building the intensity of core exercises, & hitting the pinnacle w/CM.

Let me tell you, my entire torso was so sore yesterday! Still a little today--it felt great! This Sat I might try the Spreen workout w/the intervals instead of breaking it into 2 sections.

BTW I need to thank one of the Pixies for bringing the Spreen workout to my attention. It's creative, fun & a serious fat burner. I can't remember which one of you it was but I would never have known about it without you! :)

Darn you, Laura! Now I just went and bought that dvd! Ugh! I don't think I'll ever be able to save money!!! :)

(You're description just sounded way too good!)

Allison

Sorry, yes, Absolute Kickboxing (I think I confused it w/the Saffel/Gomez KB LOL--there are so many it's hard to keep track!).

Allision, you won't regret buying this one--it's really up there on the intensity chart.

I love the Absolute Kickboxing DVD. Last time I did it (without the extra core work you did) I had major DOMS in my core and shoulders the next day. Plus it's loads of fun. I feel so tough doing those combat intervals. I also recommend Kimberly's Cardio Camp DVD--no combat intervals but there's hi/lo between kickboxing combos and it's a big favorite (of my few non-Cathe DVDs!)

Wwwwhhhhyyyyyyyyy? Why did you post this? Now, I have to buy another one!!lol!!!!
This sounds great - I am going broke! ha

Absolute Kickboxing is one of my favorite workouts! You should try the premix (the one that is the same length as the owrkout) that alternates the kickbox cardio with the body bar sections. I love doing it that way. You do the entire workout with this premix but after the WU it alternates the cardio sections with the body bar sections, then you do the post cardio CD, core, and stretch. Love, love, love this workout!

Oh yeah--I should have mentioned that's the way I usually do it. It gives a little breather between kickboxing sections (and also nice to put down the body bar when it's time to go back to kickboxing again).

Hey Lauramax! I'm glad you liked it! I think you'll really like the premix too. It's kinda long, but so much fun! Let us know what you think when you try it!:)

Carolyn

LMAO you guys! I've done the premix already also, just not on a core day. I like them both--I can't figure out which I prefer more. But I think the straight kickboxing followed by the bodybar section was more effective for core training.

Or I could just be full of crap, who knows? Either way it's a great workout so ORDER IT ALREADY DEBBIE!!!!!!!! }(

I NEED to borrow this ear stopper with all the preorders coming up. I've preordered Cathe and plan on preordering Amy and Tracey. Thank goodness I already have Kimberly's!!!!

Gee thanks, guys! I just HAD to order not only this DVD but Amy Bento's Kickbox Extreme. Oh, and did I mention that based on the other threads on plastic bottles, I'm now the proud owner-in-waiting of 2 SIGG bottles?!

Maybe I just won't notice when SNM charges my CC with the preordered workouts . . . }(

I need to stay away from these forums or I'm going to go broke!!!:D

Oh you're gonna love them both! Bento's KBX isn't the ideal KB workout in terms of form, but it is a butt-kicker when it comes to intensity, not to mention it's loads of fun!

You'll be broke but fit. Better than wealthy & unhealthy. ;-)

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the heads up on this workout. Of course, I have to order it now. I only have one question.

What is the weight of the body bar that is used for this workout?
