Amtrak

I'm pretty sure I'll take the train. I'm coming from Harrisburg, PA. I'm debating on driving or the train. Where are you coming from?

Sonja.

I'm coming from Richmond, VA. I contemplated driving, but, since I'd be leaving Friday am, there's no way. Traffic on 95 to DC starts backing up about 60 miles outside the District. And I know coming back Sunday will probably be horrible, too.

I love the train; while the commuters are stuck in traffic, I'll be napping, reading, or gazing out of the window at the parking lot that is 95 in the morning, thankful that I'm not out there with them!!!!

I've been stuck on 95. That's the WORST! Philadelphia traffic can be pretty bad and I would be driving through Philly. I'll probably be on the train. Looking forward to meeting you!

I might take the train from Connecticut as well. What city do you stop at and how are you all going to get to the hotels?
Kris

It stops in Philly and the Rapid Rover that was discussed in an earlier thread also caters to the train station.

Sounds like you call them when you get in, but I'll probably call about 15 minutes before we get there.

What time do you think you'll be arriving? If some of us are getting there around the same time, we could split the cost. My ETA is 12:47 PM on Friday.

Teresa,
I used to take the choo-choo back and forth from NY to NC and I cannot recommend enough taking the business class route. If you have AAA you will pay about the same as a regular ticket if you take advantage of the AAA rate and book business. You will be much more comfortable and enjoy much more peace and quiet that way.

LOVE business class!! I use to work in DC, though I still lived in Richmond, so I took Amtrak twice a week, to and from. My company paid for my business class ticket and it was wonderful. I may have to do that again on this trip. (oh, and, have I mentioned how much I wish you were going to be there???:-( I have? Okay, but I just wanted to say it again.)

I can pretty much arrive in Philadelphia at any hour on Friday. One arrival time is 12:43, about the same time as Teresa.

I'd like to meet up with someone at 30th Street Station if possible and then we could make our way to NJ together.

Sonja.

I'm buying a Cathe shirt for easy identification, Sonja!!! Let's try to meet up!!!!

Keep in touch!

You can call Rapid Rover one stop prior to the 30th Street stop in Philly. The driver will meet you at the train station and take you to the hotels.

We will post the Rapid Rover info shortly. This will include the rates from the train station and also rates from the airport.

Hi Sheila,
sorry it took long to post but I would love to meet up on the train with a fellow catheite. I will be coming on at Stamford. I will wear the cathe t-shirt. Do you know which Philly staton to get off at? There is more than one.
Kris

Kris,

You get off of the 30th Street Train station in Philly. We are finalizing the Rapid Rover info for those traveling by plane and by train.

Lorrayne

I will make it to the 30th st location around 10:58 but I can wait for everyone to arrive so we can share the rapid rover. What time on Sunday is everyone planning to return? I have a few times 12:37 or 1:20. Does rapid rover pick us up at the diner or the hotel on the way back?
Kris
