Am I the only one who was wiped out by HSTA? Oh My!

I just received HSTA yesterday, and did it today for the first time. Oh my goodness--it wiped the floor with me! I don't think I've ever been worked so hard before. After the first cardio cycle, I moved the step down to six inches because my legs were feeling like lead, and my heart rate was still way up there. I also was skeptical about using "just" 5's, 10's and a 30# barbell--I wasn't sure if I'd really feel it. Well, smack me over the head with that very same barbell 'cause some of the reps I could barely finish--I can't imagine how sore I'll feel tomorrow. Maybe it's just me because I don't often do circuits, but I REALLY, REALLY felt this one in ways and places I've never felt before!

Some of the Ya Yas are doing a BC 4x/week rotation. I think I may give this a try, except alternating BC with HSTA--I'm looking to jazz things up a bit, and man, I think this'll fit the bill!

What a workout, Cathe!}( Thank you sooooo much!

This is one tough workout, I found it a bit tougher thatn BC because of the leg presses. This is an amazing workout.

Hi Kim! Well it knock me to the ground when I did the first cycle with 8 inches so I lower the rest to 6 inches. The sweat was just pouring and my HR was climbing. Those sit and stand really wipe me out towards the end. Cathe is one tough lady}(.

Ditto! I posted my review here about a month ago after I did this workout for the first time. It is one super-tough workout. My heart was racing. I acclimate to cardio and circuit type workouts fairly quickly and have to mix things up constantly and find workouts with a different twist to keep me cardiovascularly challenged. This workout did the trick and it is still delivering. I am sooo happy that I bought these workouts.:)

RE: Am I the only one who was wiped out by HSTA? Oh My...

I know exactly how you feel. This is one tough video. I am experimenting with a roation. I want to the HSTA twice a week, BC once a week, HST Intermediate once a week, one heavy upperbody workout, and one kick boxing. I just got Janis Saffel's kick box circuit so I am doing that. I just want to see how it is going to work.

I laugh everytime Cathe says, "Let's get back to legs." I ask when did she ever leave legs because those leg presses are killer x(

I have a love hate relationship with the leg presses. This is one of my favorite tapes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! I did start my BC/HSTA-only rotation this morning, and I'm anxious to see the results!

Enjoy those leg presses everyone!}(

RE: Am I the only one who was wiped out by HSTA? Oh My...

Okay... it is all your fault! I just finally caved and bought this DVD! Yeah!!! :+ :+ :+ My hubby is going to shoot me! I just bought a CIA compilation and the Christy Taylor Fantastic 4 DVD set last week.

I don't know why I didn't buy the HTSA before? I guess I didn't realize it was so advanced. I have hit a major plateau and am hoping some of these total body workouts might help me kick myself out of it?

Thanks for the great reviews.... if my kids starve this week we'll all know why! ha ;)

RE: Am I the only one who was wiped out by HSTA? Oh My...

OK, I feel much better now! I thought it was just me that finds HSTA hard.

You know that first cardio -- the one with the front fast foot repeaters? I've had to lower my step to six-inches for that one and I still barely muddle through. I just can't get it up to speed on all the fast-foot repeaters (on IMAX 2, as well). I seem to land very heavy on them -- how do Cathe and crew make them seem so feathery light?! Not me -- BAM! BAM! BAM! (insert OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! here). Could only being 5-ft tall be a factor here?

And all those leg presses -- OYE!

I do, however, really love those glute raises/chest flyes near the end -- they feel SOOOO good!

Oh Fitnut, you're going to love HSTA! Let me rephrase that--you're going to love to hate it!}( I'm looking to do a little plateau-busting myself--I'm sort of at a standstill and want to add some ZING in my routine! I can't wait to hear what you think of it!

Hi Patricia! You know aside from Cathe and crew making everything LOOK so easy, I am just amazed how she can be doing the exact same workout that I am, at I'm sure a much greater intensity, and she can still TALK, LAUGH, JOKE and DIRECT US through the whole thing! I am breathless while doing her workouts! She really gives me something to aspire to! Glad you're enjoying (is that the correct word?;-) ) yourself!

RE: Hard Core High Step Training!!

Can you guy imagine that Cathe could make an even harder HST workout. This is really scary. The HST Avanced is kicking me & my spouse's butt. I can't wait to see what is in store.

Terri

Be Afraid!!!

RE: Hard Core High Step Training!!

Oh Terri I said the exact same thing when I read about the new workouts! HSTA was the first Cathe where I've actually had to pause the dvd and take little breaks--I can't even imagine a HARDCORE high step workout! I can't wait, though--this new series is going to be amazing!

And speak of the devil...I'm off to do HSTA right now!}(

RE: Am I the only one who was wiped out by HSTA? Oh My...

OK I read this post this a.m. and said to myself well I think I'll go give this a try. About ten minutes into the workout I was saying to myself "maybe I'm not as ADVANCED, as I thought I was"! I also had to stop the DVD a couple of times. And I think I'm starting to HATE x( leg presses!! I am a little "afraid" of the new workouts! Of course, I'll be preordering along with the rest of you!! RE: Am I the only one who was wiped out by HSTA? Oh My...

Hi Debbie! Oh there is hope for the both of us! I did HSTA for the second time ever this morning and it actually felt a little easier! Now don't get me wrong, it still really blew me away (cursed hover squats!}( ) but I was able to get through it with a bit less difficulty this time! In fact when I got done, I actually said out loud in a teenie tiny contented little voice, "I love Cathe." Such a geek... :)

Me, too!

I've done it 4 times and have (1) lowered the step, sometimes to 4" because I have knee issues, (2) reduced the number of leg presses to only 3 sets total and (3) reduced the impact and it STILL is tough!
