All you runners out there...

Do you think a good run is a harder workout than doing Cathe? time for time. I think it probably is. I like to mix up my routine and do both. But, I'm curious what others think.

I feel a hard interval run is harder than any other Cathe workouts as my heart rate is higher during a hard interval run than with a Cathe interval workout....just my opinion...:)...Carole

For me, running is harder than anything else. My body is not built for distance running, it's built for sprinting (powerful lower body)and so I really have to psyche myself up to go for a run. I love it, and I think that's BECAUSE it's so difficult for me. It's the best feeling of accomplishment when I'm done (plus those endorphins rock!).

I think running is harder too. I like to do 5 or 6 days of cardio a week and for me it's best to mix it up and use one of Cathe's workouts about twice a week. (That's when things are normal and I'm not training for a marathon! Only 11 more days....)

Running is definately more exertive and nothing I do is more intense. I love to mix my routine up, too, so I run at least twice a week (I have been cutting down since it has been getting dark so early now) and do Cathe cardio three times. :)

I really enjoy running. My perceived effort is higher when I run than any other cardio that I do (elliptical, spinning, Cathe cardio). I make sure I mix it up though and usually run twice a week. The data from these other cardio activities often tells me that I have burned more calories etc. from doing them than running. Even so, running takes the most out of me.

Running is definitely the ultimate in cardio workouts. It is an awesome calorie burner and IMHO, nothing conditions you better and provides stress relief at the same time! I'm up to 12 miles now and am working towards competing in a half marathon.

I find interval running a very good workout. For me it leans my legs out. By the time Ive finished the 45 to 60min run, I sweating buckets.

Definitely agree.

Also, the duration of some runs are harder too. :) I just ran for 4 hours straight last Sunday. teehee!

I'll be running in a marathon (Lasalle Chicago Marathon)in 3 more weeks! :7

yup, I go with the consensus. Running is super hard for me, though I've built up my endurance for both steady state and HIIT over the past 6 months. There is no feeling like after a series of sprint intervals for me!

I've found that since I started running (well, more like jogging for me ;) ) on a regular basis using Cathe's rotations, Imax3 and other interval workouts have become easier. The blasts are easier and I don't need to pause between intervals at all or as long as I used to.

Running does rock and nothing beats the calorie burn...

Just make sure you don't do ALL running. You need to mix in a few days of other cardio to prevent injury, overtraining and boredom. The "other cardio" will also help you become a better runner! Mix in the IMAX's for a great workout, variety and the plyometrics will help you improve your running skill!

Yup...I feel (literally) that running is harder. I have noticed some nice changes in my body since I added running to my rotations.

Running is harder than a Cathe interval w/o I believe. My heart rate stays up there in the higher levels for a longer sustained time. One thing I have noticed, and maybe some of you more experienced runners can tell me, is that when I hit the upper level of my training zone and actually above on say Cathe's IMAXs, I am very aware of my body taking in as much air as I possible can but when I run and my heart rate gets up there and stays up there, after a little while, usually about 1/2 mile, I will... what I call "settle in" to my run and not be breathing that hard at all, at least I don't seem to be.

I find running a more efficient calorie burner for me, however, I run outdoors first thing in the am and I have several hills in my running route which is like intervals built into the workout.

My baseline run is 4.5 miles (47 minutes) but on the days that I can't fit all that time in, I'll run a short 2 miler but always finish in my driveway with 200 walking lunges and 3 Lomax interval blasts. This is great for fat burning and leg shaping.

I think Cathe's workouts are way more complex than running, though. But effort-wise, running does it for me!
