Ahhh, the sweet, succulent, smell of summer

Sorry - just prior to reading this I read A-Jock's post. I'm totally the opposite and was thinking about this this morning on my walk as the sun was heating the air and the humidity on the rise. I'm sure to get flamed for this (though I think some diversion from all the "preorder drama" <and why DO we have that every time anyway?> is not necessarily bad.)

I was up at 4:00, getting in PUB and the BBW from Cathe's June '06 rotation. The air was cool and crisp and at that time of morning, so beautifully quiet. Then I headed out for a 6-mile walk and sensed every moment of the heat and humidity beginning to climb. I LOVE this time of year - and it's so short, that I try to suck in every single breath of it that I possibly can. I know most of you prefer the cool or cold to this staggering heat, but I'll take every day of it that I can get. (Oh - maybe all of A-Jock's usual energy comes my way this time of year. LOL :)) Happy Summer fellow Catheites.

I have to agree on this one:) I absolutely love this time of year, yes even with the heat and humidity. I live in WI, so since summer is so short I try to get in all I can. Now off to read A-Jock's post;-)

This may sound silly, but which of Cathe's workouts (you mentioned it's from the June '06 Rotation) is BBW? TIA!!

Lorrie, I'm pretty much with you. I love the long, hot summer days. But I do have to add that walking out of the air conditioned workplace into a wall of 90+ temps and humidity does make skipping a workout mighty tempting.

Allison - here is the BBW from the JUne '06 rotation. HTH

The following "Bonus Butt Workout" is to be done whenever you see "BBW" listed on a given day:

Bonus Butt Workout: (approximate time including stability ball segment of Pyramid Lower Body is 32 minutes)
1) One minute of squats with a challenging barbell weight
2) One legged front lunge (back leg propped up on high step)...2 alternating sets of 15 reps with weights in hands for more challenge.
3) Plie squats for one minute with a challnging barbell weight
4) Leg Press....2 alternating sets of 15 reps
5) Barbell Deadlift...2 slow sets of 15 reps
6) Wall squat with one leg elevated slightly...one minute on each leg
7) Deep and controlled power scissors for 30 seconds (or substitute one minute of walking lunges with 8 pound hand weights)

***Conclude the Bonus Butt Workout with the stability ball segment of Pyramid Lower Body

i don't mind the hot but the humidity is killing my sinsues. it seems the more humid the worse my allergies are. really stinks b/c i love this time of year. the trails are bright and green and everybody seems more friendler around here LOL. i wish it would rain here in lynchburg and get it over with. everytime they predict thunderstorms the humidity is unbearable for days. i want out on the trails already.

Hello!

I too love this early AM summer weather. I am out the door running in the park at 6AM. It is a beautiful sight.
I love the smell of the peonies. I love the quietness of the morning.

It feels great!

Of course, I hate the heavy humidity because it often makes my stomach sick.
Oh well! :)

I'm with you, Lorrie. Although we desperately need rain in Ohio this summer reminds me of the long, hot summers when I was a kid. It seemed like every day of summer was sunny (I'm sure it wasn't) but that's what I remember. But thank God for air conditioning, huh? ;)

HA - haven't turned it on once this summer - it may not even work. Nope - I turn on every ceiling fan in my house, open every door and window, and with the whole house exhaust fan at the top of the house on, it pulls up the cool air from my basement - and voila - I get the coolness of AC blowing through evry room with the smell of summer breezes. I consider myself lucky.

I am a summer baby and have always loved this time of year. For the last 15 years, we have had the great fortune of living in a tropical climate and therefore, enjoy summer weather 365 days a year. I run along the beach at 5:30 every morning and feel so blessed to live where most people dream of vacationing. However, I grew up on the East Coast and remember all too well those hazy summer days, with oppressive heat and humidity. Muggy summer weather... forgetaboutit ;-)
