afternoon snacks?

MAYNARDSMOM

I need new ideas - What's everyone having for their afternoon snack? You guys do have an afternoon snack right?

Today I did have something different - a childhood favorite.
Pears (no sugar canned) with shredded lo-fat cheese & 1 TBSP light mayo. No faces now - don't knock it till you try it!! As a kid my Mom always made this & every so often I have to have it. It really is good! :D

Tami: Good idea to post this question so we all get new ideas. Yes, I eat a snack! :) My favorites: greek yogurt with berries, a cup of homemade muesli, unsalted almonds and an apple or peanut butter and low sugar jelly on a whole wheat wrap. I can't think of anymore right now...

oh, im so hungry roght now but im nursing my baby and i cant get up!!!!!

what i am DYING for tight now is a kashi waffle w/ pb and raisins sprinkled on top! or sometimes i'll put on banana slices or apple slices....

my tummy is growling now!!!!:p

Health Valley Organics Toaster Tart; or soy nuts; or pear or apple with almond butter or Ina Garten's Pumpkin Butter (YUM); in the evenings I also like dried turkish apricots and dried cranberries; or two graham crackers (plain or cinnamon).

Change of plans:
Some "Grawnola" (raw "granola" made with nuts, dried fruit and other yummies, and an organic Delicious apple).

today I had a grapefruit for afternoon snack and this morning snack was a cheese stick.

Sometimes it is an apple and cottage cheese plain or sometimes I add cinnamon and honey with it.

Drinking a chocolate whey shake now. I often eat greek yogurt with honey, or a larabar, my favorite is an apple with peanut butter, but I usually save that for an evening snack.

Cabot has really good individually wrapped reduced fat cheese in all kinds of variety. Alot of times I will have that with an apple or a banana and some nuts. I need some variety too. I love peanut butter and banana with granola. So good.

Yesterday, my evening snack was a thawed pack of açai pulp, blended with chocolate soy milk and a bit of agave.

This is what I'm currently snacking on....it's like a mousse....now if I can just figure out how to make it chocolatey!

1 cup cottage cheese
1 bowl premade sugarfree jello (1cup hot water/jello sachet)

IMPORTANT - When you go to make up the jello...
Just use 1cup of hot water per jello packet.....DO NOT add the second cup of cold, as written on the packet. Your final Fluff will be much firmer, like cheesecake consistancy.

Then put in fridge to set for an hour.
Then, put the cottage cheese and jello into your blender........and blend till smooth.
Pour into bowl.....then refridgerate for a few hours

That sounds pretty good I think I'll try making some, but today I'm having celery with soy nut butter:)

In the afternoon, I usually eat some Mott's no-sugar-added applesauce and some almonds.

Great ideas everyone!

Like a mouse?

ETA: oh....mousse!
LOL! (I was wondering how it could be like a mouse...or maybe your way of eating it like a mouse? I was totally confused!)

LOL, yea, that! Sorry I was in too big of hurry to really care about my spelling!

You can get sugar free/fat free chocolate pudding mix blend in the blender with cottage cheese for a smooth texture. I put it in the freezer. It's like chocolate ice cream!

Cynthia: Do you make the pudding first or just add the packet to the cottage cheese and blend? This sounds like a great evening snack!

I mix the pudding mix straight out of the box. If you freeze the mix for long time, it loses the creamy texture. I take it out of the freezer, toss it back in the blender to smooth it out;)
