Advice strength DVD with most form instruction?

I have only been using Cathe DVDs since Feb. 2010. For strength I have BM2 and MM. I am saving for STS but I have also watched clips of the PH, MIS & BM2 and noticed Cathe gave several form pointers. Should I invest in some of these as well to learn proper form? Which strength DVDs give the best form instruction? Thanks, Kat

PH is a great resource for learning proper form. Before each body part, there is a 20 or 30 second intro clip where Cathe talks about the exercises you will be doing for that particular body part and how to do those exercises correctly. And, as a bonus, PH comes on the same DVD as MIS (another great full body weight workout) and the original BM.

PH would be a great choice (it was one of my first Cathe workouts), but if you want lots of good instruction and form pointers I highly recommend Slow and Heavy. It's a fantastic workout and one of my favorites!

Thanks Michelle, I will check this one out, I try to watch clips when I can. I guess I will have to tell my family I want Cathe gift cert. for Christmas presents, I'm hooked!

I second for Slow and Heavy. I have all of Cathe's DVDs. Slow and Heavy has the best weight-training form pointers of all, I think, and also because you do the moves slowly, you can really work on perfecting the form while you do this workout. There will be lots of other opinions out there - and all of the workouts by Cathe are great - but I would go for S&H.

I vote for SH and PS

Last week I did Slow and Heavy, and this week I did Pure Strength. So I can say I agree with Michele's and Ann's remarks about Slow and Heavy having good form pointers. One point is that there is a 1-minute rest between sets -- and Cathe spends most of the time during these rest intervals discussing the exercizes. As well the crew demonstrates each lift superbly.

As for Pure Strength, the form pointers here are aslo well done. Part of the reason has to do with the fact that this series was one of Cathe's first strength series (done in 1999), so she works extra hard to explain the exercizes to a "beginner" audience. But I find that after all these years, I still learn something.

David, thanks for the tip. I haven't done Pure Strength for quite a while, and will get it out and do it again. I am sure I will learn something new - I am always amazed at how much I can learn from a video, even if I've done it many times before. Sometimes time brings a new and different perspective.

Another vote here for Slow and Heavy! I've begun using it as a refresher after doing an STS cycle or other multi-month rotations, to polish up my form. It's hard for me to enjoy SH for more than a week or two in a row, as the slow movement seems to add to the dread factor if I use it too much --- but a week or two every few month is just about perfect!

I think the Pure Strength series has great instruction. I think Slow & Heavy does too but I S&H bores me too much and at times I feel the form pointers are just to fill the long rest btwn sets.
