Cathe, In your beginner rotation first 3 weeks you only have two days of ab work, I don't feel like this is enough for me. I have am on week 2 an none of my jeans fit in the ab area. I can feel it every where else, but there. Iam used to doing abs everyday. I would like to add at least 1 more day. Is that ok? I have eaten pretty good alot of salad and fruits and veggies an low fat suppers, I have actually gained wt.

Not Cathe, but I too had the same problem. I got her Ab Hits DVD and substituted one of those on the Ab days. Two days was enough using those tougher ab workouts. As for the gaining weight problem, well, when you get the answer to that one, let me know. I have the same issue with weight gain but I wasn't eating near as well as you are and Cathe told me that diet was like 90% of it. I'm watching the diet much closer now but still no weight loss. :-(

If you're both doing weights and you haven't done them before, then the weight gain could be because you're also putting on muscle. I know that Cathe has posted about this before -- that when you first start lifting, you tend to gain some weight because you're putting on more muscle and your muscles also swell up.

I think that it's also OK to work abs more than twice a week, but if you work them intensely, you probably don't need to work them any more than three times a week.

Hope this helps!

The Ab Hits is very traditional ab work. I think that if you switch to a more core-focused ab workout that cathe uses in her more recent dvds, results will follow. Plus, ab work is tricky, because you really have to focus on working the muscle and not ripping on your neck. Core Max is a popular video for abs/core, but most of her stuff from IMAX 2 and forward is less traditional. I personally love the ab workout on Step, Jump and Pump (it is more traditional, but fun). I actually kind of dread the core stuff because it is so challenging! Maybe someone else can suggest an ab workout too? And really, two or three times a week is enough for working abs.
