Ab Hits - Bummed

I'm soooo bummed out. I won the Ab Hits DVD off ebay, and got it yesterday. I put it in last night and it doesn't work!! It either stalls and kicks you back to the main menu, or it sputters. I tried all the chapters/workouts and it happened to all of them. I'm so completely bummed now!!

Kim,

How disappointing! You may have gotten a dud DVD (when AB hits was originally released there was a bad batch). It could also be a fixable problem, like the disc being dirty or scratched. Check the DVD school section and see if there is anything there that may help.

You may want to try cleaning the disc. You could go to a store like Radio Shack and see about the cleaning kits they sell. I believe that cleaning is covered in DVD school and somehow Lemon Pledge is involved.

If the disc is scratched, you may want to try some scratch repair. Once again, at a store like Radio Shack, you can buy a kit were there is a solution to 'fill' up the scratches and maybe the DVD will play better. It can't hurt to try!

I hope either of these two suggestions work for you. That would be so disappointing if you got a bad disc as a purchase. You may want to notify the seller and see if you can get a refund.

Take care,

DVD's can be cleaned w/ just about anything, soap and water is a good choice. Be sure to wipe from the center of the dvd straight out, not around the disk in a circular motion.

I hope you left the seller some bad feedback or at least told them of the problem, they should be willing to refund your money or replace it. I'd let Ebay know if they've been dishonest or won't cooperate w/ you.

Oh I would be so angry at the seller for this. Did you try contacting the seller about this? Well anyway sorry that this had to happen to you:(.

I agree with the second half of this post: get right back to the ebay seller, and ask for refund of your money. If the seller refuses, make sure you leave negative feedback so others are not suckered in by this person again. Definitely. Don't even hesitate.

Before I did anything I went back to ebay and double-checked on the description of the dvd and it did say "like new....excellent condition". So from there I emailed her and I was really nice explaining to her what happened when I played the dvd, and asked if this happened to her. She sent me back a very short and to the point note saying No, it never happened to her, that she won it off ebay herself and viewed it one time and it worked fine, that I might want to clean it. I just got home from work a few minutes ago, so I am going to clean it and see what happens from there. If it does act up, then I know she is not being truthful with me.

Kim

Now I want to cry!! I cleaned it, and I put in back in the dvd player and the same darned thing!!! I hate confrontation with people, but I guess I'm going to have to tell her that it doesn't work after cleaning it. :-(

Kim

Go back and be firm. Demand a refund. I mean, jeez, she even confessed that she didn't buy it new, she got it off ebay too!!! So, when she said in her ebay blurb that it was new, never been used, blah, blah, she was lying. You can only say such things if you yourself bought it from Cathe's site and have not used it or used it only once.

If she gives you trouble, just write her up negatively without a second thought. She deserves no better for underhand selling techniques. Just because it's ebay doesn't mean people should/can sell horses**t and claim it's pearls. It never ceases to amaze me how people think they can sell crap and get away with it. Junk is junk, let's face it. She should not have sold that DVD on to you: it obviously did not work for her.

Most definitely email the seller and tell her you cleaned the Dvd and it still does not work so you want to return the item to her for a full refund. That's all you need to write. Make sure you keep copies of any emails that go between the two of you and make a copy of the item listing too so you have her words that say..."Like New".

I have been down this road on Ebay a few times with sellers who pawned crap off on me. If the seller does not return your money within 30 days then you can file a complaint with Ebay via email...there is a area to do this in on the Ebay site. This again can take up to another 30 days before you'll see your money but it's worth the wait to get your money back.

Goodluck to you and stand your ground. This person knew full well that the Dvd didn't work. They were banking the hope that the next buyer wouldn't complain and would just eat the loss.

And don't feel bad about this. I've bought expensive items off of ebay and had them arrive damaged...yet the box was perfectly intack so you know the item was broken when it was put in the box. Shippers are wise to this fradulent practice too and I've had shippers refuse to honor insurance claims because they say the item was damaged prior to being shipped. It's a great scam really, the seller breaks a $500 stained glass lamp...sells it on Ebay and packs all of the pieces in a box and 'highly recommends' that you insure it and then when you open the box and all you have are shards of a beautiful lamp...the seller says well it's not my problem the item broke in shipping so you need to file a claim with Fedex...thank you very much!

So, while the majority of my Ebay purchases have been problem free and I absolutely LOVE Ebay...you always have a few bad apples who try to take advantage of situation's like selling defective Dvd's and hoping the buyer won't want to go through the hassle of filing a complaint with Ebay.

She's not biting. I wrote her back after I cleaned it and it still didn't work and all she said was sorry, it worked fine when she had it and she is an honest seller and would not sell anything if it did not work for her without stating so. SOOOOOOOO.....I guess I need to complain to ebay. Do you think ebay can do anything about it?

Contact E-bay via the web site. Did you pay for it by Paypal?? If you did you can call them and file a complaint. Did the e-bay listing say "as is"?? Don't let them get a way with it!

I have filed before - this girl attempted to take my 257.00 and not send me the product. I contacted paypal and they took care of it and she is now out of business.

Have you tried it on a different player? Maybe it is just the one you are using. Not a help, I know, but I have had things work one place and not another, meaning maybe your player could use a cleaning. Try your computer if it has a dvd drive.

As far as eBay goes, I have had nearly problem free experiences both buying and selling. As a seller, I would suck it up and refund the money. Regardless of anything. If I knew in my heart that an item was perfect, and someone said it was flawed, I would have them send it back and when it is returned to me, I would send them back their money. One time I sold a pair of mint Dansko shoes. The photo was clear, and the shoes were in excellent condition. I described them as used simply because they were from my closet and not a store. I received my one and only neutral feedback, and was really annoyed. The buyer never even once emailed me about it. She said the shoes were mediocre and badly described. I would have happily taken them back and done whatever it took, but was never given the chance. Never even heard from her.

I know the seller you are dealing with is being a bit testy, but I would still ask her to take it back and refund your money, especially if the disc doesn't work on a different player. Good luck!

I totally agree with everyone on here. I've sold and bought stuff on ebay. If someone had a problem with a DVD I would gladly refund their money (who wouldn't if they are honest?), even though I've never had that happen. I always double check any item I'm selling right before packing and sending it. (unless it's new and sealed). I once bought something and paid for it with paypal. Never received it. I emailed twice, nicely, and then I got a negative feedback from the seller who never sent me the product. I was so upset, because it made me look bad on feedbacks. Then I saw later on that she was no longer a member in good standing. I felt somewhat vindicated. Stand your ground. It's not right!!

Kim, other people need to know about this woman so they won't make the mistake of buying something from her that isn't any good..... I think she knew it was bad that is why she was unloading it to get her money back...... Rhonda

Kim:
I just received my Ab Hits - I ordered from the site here, and the same thing happened to me, it would play then sputter and that would be on all chapters. I had my son clean it with his cleaning kit, even though it looked perfect, and it worked beautifully this morning.
Let us know how it turns out for you. I hope that you can resolve this.
